The Week in the Proverbial Nutshell

It's FRIDAY and time for my week in a nutshell:

Breezy and BestSonInLawEVER were home this past weekend!  I always work myself silly cooking meals for them love it when they come home!  I did notice, however, that I am adjusting well to 'empty nest quiet' because it WAS NOT quiet while they were here and, I missed it.  Say it with me- PROGRESS! LOL

I would know that the weather has turn to the warmth of spring for the last three weeks even if I had not gone outside one single time.  How?  The neighbors on one side of us is how.  DrunkFemale and JerkFaceMale.  As soon as the weather warms up, they go out in their backyard and stay all day long.  So what?  I'll tell you so what.  They are completely, totally, utterly DRUNK which means they are obnoxious, vulgar, argumentative, abusive, irrational and intrusive just to name the main characteristics.  And all of us neighbors in the surrounding area can hear every single word.  Every.  Single.  Word.  ALL DAY LONG.  And then, when Sunday comes around, they are out by 7:00 am and THEY'RE ALREADY DRUNK.  I don't get it.  Did it go on all night or did they just get an early start?  Last weekend they argued, LOUDLY, about the name of a friend's child.  Everyone in the subdivision knows them as the neighborhood drunks.  Hubs and I are known as those poor souls who live next door to them.

I started participating in the National Blog Posting Month or NaBloPoMo just to see what it's all about, maybe get my momentum going and to attempt some improvement in my writing.  This isn't easy, but it's kind of fun. You can join in any time so it's never too late!  Just follow the link or hit the button and check it out! The theme for March is:  In a Word!  Come on and give it a shot!  My word for today is:  Nutshell. Our actual prompt for today is: What's your favorite thing you love to waste time with right now? A guilty pleasure.  But, since I'm not sure I actually have one right now, I'm just going with NUTSHELL.  That's another nice thing about the NaBloPoMo, you don't have to use the prompt, you just have to write something.  Anything.  It does seem to help with the momentum issue.  Although it tends to make my brain ache just trying to think about what to write.

Tucker and I have walked 16 miles so far this week.  In the wind.  I mean WIND.  It's practically picking us up and carrying us on our walks.  Yesterday it was crazy strong!  Things were blowing up against the house last night and it was SPOOKY.

Our college babies have spring break next week.  DoodleBug is taking a train trip to Philly with her roommate the Gibbster (or, as my very southern mother likes to say, "The yankee that we like." Oh Mother...there are at least one or two more whom we like. LOL).  Birdie and current boytoy (who will be known from here forward as BoyWeWantForSonInLaw) will be leaving late next week for DC to visit Deanie!  They, too, will be traveling via train.  I won't ride on a train because of a bad experience when I was three that I remember like it happened yesterday.  I will spare you the details but it happened at Tweetsie Railroad (a wild west theme park in the mountains of NC) and involved a steam operated train, Indians who attacked said train, and FEAR.  (Don't judge-the only Indians I knew about at that age were Hollywood depicted.).  Not even Fred Kirby (a rootin' tootin' singin' cowboy a.k.a., my hero) could pry the death grip lose that I had on my dad's neck.

DoodleBug and the Gibbster came over for supper Wednesday.  They had to take Birdie a plate because she had a research project meeting.  Those Athletic Training majors are having a busy senior year.  I fed them Shrimp Scampi (and the shrimp was FRESH off the boat.  Hubs goes to the docks when the shrimp boats come in and buys them right there...he has to head them though because I'm NOT doing that...once you taste them fresh like that, you won't ever eat them any other way.  Ever.), served on whole wheat linguini, a big fresh, tossed salad, sauteed mushrooms, and french bread with garlic butter.  Nothing big for dessert, just some Bryers mint chocolate chip.  YUUM-EEEE!

And that's the week in a nutshell Dahlings!  Here's to your weekend, may it be all you hoped for and more!

I'm linking up with Java's Follow Friday 40 and Over!

  1. Oh my gosh, those neighbors sound awful! See what I mean about the quiet. You will get use to it.
This is Ladies weekend for me. Every year we go to my sister in laws house at the shore. We are daughters, sister in laws, cousins, and daughter in laws and moms. We have a blast just catching up with each other.
    Have a great weekend!

  3. Oh man EN, I would absolutely HATE to have to deal with such horrible neighbors! Sorry!

Also, your dinner made my mouth water and it's only 10 in the morning. I love shrimp.

And I checked out NaBlo and it looks really cool! I'm looking forward to using it as a resource when I'm feeling like I have nothing to write about!

    Have a great weekend!

  5. I remember having neighbors like that when we lived in Canada. They were like 5 houses away, but every weekend they had the music turned up so loud we heard it in the dead of winter, when all windows were closed. I pity you!
Your meal for Wed. sounded really scrumptious! You are a good cook!

  6. oh no!! I am so sorry to hear about your drunk and very obnoxious neighbors. Since we live in a townhouse (at the moment soon to not live there anymore, thank God!) we can hear said crazy woman and her 20 family members who are always over or visting. The worst part is that there are constantly cars coming and honking for them. That is SOO annoying! Why don't they use a cell phone or better yet get up off their butts and acutally go to the damn door! I hate this family of crazies so much and can't wait to be done with them. Only thing is, what kind of neighbors will our new place bring? Yikes!

  11. Betty-I might be able to take the music better than the yelling. Their tone is downright hateful.

JD- I'm so glad you're getting to move from them! It kind of takes the joy out of things to have neighbors like this, eh?

chele- Yes indeed- ALL DAY LONG. You gotta wonder about the condition of their livers.

Ren- Oh it's just the best fresh! Come to SC and I'll make you my bourbon shrimp and grits!

    Jeff- No problem!

Carol-Especially when they're drunk all the time!

  12. You should video neighbors and post on YouTube. Now that would be funny!

  13. Barb- I would--I mean it. I would climb right up in our magnolia tree and video them over their privacy fence BUT the poor souls on the other side of her can see through their side of the fence and say that she is out there nude every weekend. And, as Hubs says, "Now that's something I NEVER want to see." LOL

  14. Seems like you had an eventful week...and those neighbors...try dousing them with water when they step out next time...might keep them inside...

  15. I think the youtube idea is a good one, maybe if you can pay somebody to hold the webcam. They sound so irritating, I would blast my radio speakers by their fence, just to piss them off.
I love shrimp, send some over will you? Hey, maybe I can hold the camera for a big plate of shrimp....

  17. caterpillar- I didn't think of that one---when they get mad I can just play 'dumb Dora'--Oh I'm so sorry, I had no idea there was water coming out of that hose. LOL

Alessandra- Deal! You hold the camera and I'll prepare the shrimp! LOL

Shawn- the people who lived there before were the best neighbors in the world!

  18. OMG! Breyers Mint Chocolate Chip is my favorite! Not beg on shrimp, though. I'll just skip from the salad straight to the desert!

  19. With neighbors like that, it's time to seriously consider a move to North Dakota where no one has neighbors. And you might even find a 'Yankee that you like' along the way. :-) LOVED that!

Thank you so much for taking the time to comment! It makes me feel connected to everyone even though we may live far apart! Have a wonderful day!
