Fessin' Up Day: Week 4

It's time for the Slimmer this Summer update/check-in/fess up post for week number 4.

I was able to stay true to my goals for the challenge again this week!

Water intake stayed the same-- I was able to drink 64 oz of water each and every day followed by another 16-24 oz of my beloved iced green tea made with spring water, Splenda, and lemon juice.

Exercise: I walked every day again.  I still can't get Tucker to go more than two miles so, once again, I only got in 12.5 miles this week.  What I really need to do is go back out there after I bring him home and get serious. I did compensate in the afternoons with Zumba, Pilates, and Just Dance for Wii!  Pilates is T.O.R.T.U.R.E.  But I LOVE it!

Calories: Once again, I have not had trouble with keeping the calories down. I am still giving credit for this to 1- livestrong.com; b- Debbi's delicious recipes; 3-my own sheer determination; and d-the challenge.

Here's the breakdown for week four:
  • Monday: 1025
  • Tuesday: 1181
  • Wednesday: 1066
  • Thursday: 958
  • Friday: 1198
  • Saturday:1225
  • Sunday:
  • Total calories for the week:
Discoveries?  YES.  I feel a self-sabotage coming on in the form of frustration that the weight is not coming off as quickly as I'd like.  It's an old mind trick of mine that gets me back into some very bad habits and defeats any and all positive efforts.  However, I am determined to ignore it.  It's not that the scale isn't moving, it's that it isn't moving quickly enough.  Which is stupid.

Goal changes? None this week.

Here are the numbers for week 4:

Weight loss:  -5 lbs (Total for 4 weeks: 22 pounds gone forever!)

Inches: -2.5 total (chest:= -1; hips = -0; waist = -1.5; neck = -0)  Total for 3 weeks:-15.5 inches off forever!

I am still waiting on the proverbial 'other shoe to drop' almost daily.  I'm extremely grateful that it hasn't but I have no idea what the future holds.  All any of us can do is continue to take this thing one hot summer day at a time.

Hope everyone has a fantastic week!

  4. Perfect! A five pound weight loss in one week is amazing and remember, the goal should be "slow and steady".

You are an inspiration to me. Even with all my running, I have stayed the same weight. My problem, I am famished after a run and make poor choices. I should record on Livestrong like you are doing. I have the app on my iPad but have been to lazy to use it.

    Have a great 4th!

  6. If you don't want that 5 lb. loss, I'll take it!! I too was sitting the other night and the stomach was empty and that old mind game started playing - this is taking too long. I talk to myself about patience. Patience, Patience, Patience. We cannot let that sabotage us anymore. Well done. At least we are recognizing it before we act on it now rather than regretting what we have done afterwards.

  12. 22 pounds? That's terrific! I'm at the same spot all the time. The more I put on my plate, the more I eat to keep rolling.

  13. You had a great week. The small amount of pilates that I do are felt, I tell you, too! Good work, good tracking. I really think that tracking is the most helpful tool. It keeps us in check. Food adds up if you don't count it, you know. And the water. Yep.

Let's keep rollin' on this challenge! Have a great week 5.

  16. 5 lbs is amazing weight loss. 1 lb a week is a good average. But I understand about it not coming off as quickly as you'd like. I wrote about that last week...the greedy feeling of wanting more weight loss numbers. But everyone reminded me that it didn't come on in a year, so it's gonna take a while for it to come off. Slow and steady wins the race!

  17. Most of the time I accept the fact that I am a very slow loser. It is a lot of effort for so little downsize every week, but that is how my body works. So, be not discouraged. Keep doing everything right, like you are, slow and steady wins the race. Michele
