HUMP DAY HOPS!

HUMP day is here which means it is FINALLY time for my THREE favoritey fun HUMP DAY HOPS!

If you're here for Chats on the Farmhouse Porch or Get Wired Wednesday only, then scroll down.

First up this week is WEDNESDAY HODGE PODGE from Joyce at From This Side of the Pond.  This meme is fun and sometimes even poses a challenge (read: she makes us use our noggins!).

1. Who taught you how to cook? My mother and my grandmother (her mother). I still can't cook as good as them but I don't do too bad. I do measure like they did though- which means I eyeball everything. What's a measuring cup?

2. Have you been told you think too much? Are too much of a perfectionist? Are too sensitive? Were they right? Yes, I've been told that I analyze everything. How else am I going to be right about everything if I don't know exactly what the deal is? But I'm not too much of a perfectionist- I'm a just right perfectionist. And no one has EVER told me that I am too sensitive. Because I am absolutely NOT too sensitive. As a matter of fact, I could probably use sensitivity training. But don't tell anyone that I admitted that!

3. As a child did you have a favorite blanket or toy? Tell about it. I don't recall a blanket or toy. I did love my stuffed animals and they had their positions on my bed and no one was allowed to move them out of position. I would know! My favorite things when I was growing up were living things- my dogs! I loved them all and played with them every day!

4. What 'institution' do you have the most faith in? I have faith in the institution of marriage and family.

5. Chrysanthemums-pansies-burning bush-ornamental cabbage...your favorite in an autumn garden? I'll go with pansies. No, chrysanthemums. No...dang it! How about NOT burning bush or ornamental cabbage?

6. What superpower do the kids in your neighborhood seem to posses?  The same one that my kids had for sure: RADAR. They know when you're busy or not looking or in a good mood or a bad mood or when you're baking. They always show up. Whether they are yours or not. Let's just say it's a good thing I like kids.

7. Are you a fan of the cranberry? As in cranberry sauce? NOPE. As in my Christmas cranberry punch? YEP. As in cranberry muffins? OF COURSE. As in strung on the Christmas tree? DEFINITELY!

8. Insert your own random thought here. I ADORE Christmas music and Christmas movies. I might start listening to them before but I don't admit it officially until November 1. But this year it almost made me sad because I realized that Birdie won't be home for Thanksgiving for the first time! Deanie won't be here either but, while it is sad, it's not the first time--she goes to the boytoy's family gathering for Thanksgiving. HOWEVER, all is NOT LOST! EVERYONE will be home for Christmas.

Next up is a HUMP DAY HOP from Patrice at Everyday Ruralty called Chats on the farmhouse porch!

Questions:
  1. Alison asks: What's the biggest obstacle you've overcome or need to? Probably my weight issues. I seem to have overcome my bad eating habits and turned them around. And the weight is coming off.
  2. Julia asks: If you won $100,000 what changes would you make? You mean after the freaking tax man takes 40%. That's not much to make a change with. I guess Hubs and I would sit down and look at our priority list, start with number 1 and see how far we get.
  3. McGuffy Ann asks: What's the most unusual pet you've had? Nothing unusual here. Birds, fish, hamsters, dogs, cats. The usual.
  4. When do you start decorating for Christmas? We usually begin the Saturday after Thanksgiving. But we have a wedding to attend this year so we'll wait until Sunday! The wedding is Breezy's BFF and his fiance. Missing it would be like missing one of the lovelies' weddings!
  5. What's your favorite type of magazine to read? I'm not much of a magazine reader unless I'm sitting in a waiting room. If that's the case, I usually pick up anything sports related or like Time. I do pick up skirt! magazine every month and use it for scrapbooking. It has perfect sayings if you have daughters!

Last but NOT LEAST:
I'm wired are you?

  1. I never measure anything either when cooking! Makes it difficult to tell someone how to cook something...

  3. Holidays definitely get a little trickier with grown up kids. I will have both girls home this year and potentially two boyfriends. I hope they are able to work it out...course their families will be missing them but everybody grows up and we just gotta roll with it, right?

  5. Funny how that $100,000 doesn't sound like so much. Well, not funny but it really wouldn't go that far, really.

Cranberries in muffins - yes! My favorite. I never like cranberry sauce with turkey - it seemed weird. have to admit to liking it just to eat though. Got my hand slapped many a time for that one.

  6. I love pansies but have never thought of them as a Fall flower. Love your cranberry answer. Enjoy your Christmas music, it's the best! Sorry about Birdie and Thanksgiving. ((HUGS))

  7. Oh yes, I forgot about kids with their auto set transmittors which signals the moment you have your back turned. lol

I forgot about Uncle Sam getting its grubby pals on the $100,000. *slap self on forehead* Oh well...I'm gonna have to rethink my line of strategy for spending what's left.

  11. So do I detect another left-brained woman? :-) My daughter says my EQ (emotional quotient) is LOW. LOL

Have you seen the (old) Christmas movie, Prancer? It's a kids' movie with Sam Elliot and I just love that movie! (I think it raises my EQ a nanobit). :-)

  14. Lol re "how else am I going to be right about everything if I don't analyze?"!!
I love Christmas music too! But usually I hold back till nearer the end of November, maybe I should change that ??

  15. I love Christmas music ... AND Christmas movies! I'm so sad that you won't have all your lovelies with you for Thanksgiving ... but so glad to hear that they will all be home for Christmas. ;-) I only have one daughter, and she lives just 5 miles away ... but it's still difficult to coordinate the holidays (with her dad & his family, with her in-laws, and with us).

  16. Kathy- It sure does. But I can never seem to remember to write it down no matter how much they fuss!

Julie- Thanks! These things are so much fun!

Joyce- You’re right, we do have to roll with it. But we don’t have to like it. LOL

FG-Thanks! I enjoy the Wednesday hops too!

Stephanie- RIGHT?! I afraid we wouldn’t get too much done with a mere $50,000 or less. I can’t eat cranberry sauce at all- I try all the time but-icky. LOL

Debby-They always sell pansies around here in the fall months. I’m enjoying some Christmas music as I type this!

Cathy-That radar is universal in kids and husbands. I’m convinced. Yep, Uncle Sam can ruin everything!

Beverly- Thanks! I have to cover my ass…I mean tracks. Yeah, tracks. LOL

Queen-Sorry it took me until today to get back- I’m heading your way in just a few!

Leon-So glad you came by! I’ll head to your blog in a bit!

Judy- I have seen that movie! We have it- and we watch it and it raises my EQ too! As do they all! Until someone ruins it for me. LOL Mostly, I’m pretty unfeeling when I recognize a pity party. Can’t stand those.

Betty- Thanks girl! I’m enjoying our words with friends games! But I keep getting too many vowels!

Patrice- They have skirt! up your way. At least they do in DC. It’s completely free and somewhat feminist. And then they run ads about how we aren’t all that great if we don’t get lipo and face lifts, etc.

Mimi- Be bold! Turn that Christmas music on NOW! LOL

Kathy- ME TOO! Lucky she’s so close. We have an issue with holidays, sort of, between my dad and mother. They have been divorced since I was 21 and dad is easy but mother always throws a wrench into everything. Annoying.

  18. I loved reading your answers. I always enjoy these question/answer memes but never remember to do them...one of these days! lol

I always PLAN on decorating the weekend after Thanksgiving, but somehow after we've cleaned up the dishes after Thanksgiving dinner, I always seem to start getting a few Christmas decorations out. It starts with the centerpiece and a few candles and some Christmas music...and the next thing you know I'm out of control. I just can't help myself!

  19. Barb- Thank you! When will you be here?!

Dearest- I would probably start right after too but we're usually at my dad's house! But this year---oh no! I hope I don't get carried away and miss the wedding! LOL
