The Simple Woman's Day Book Entry...and One More Thing

This is a fun way to start the weekend! Just head over to Peggy's by clicking the button below and join in the fun!

FOR TODAY

Outside my window...the sun is shining brightly and the birds are eating at the feeders. They look all fluffed up from the cold and the wind.

I am thinking...that I am not a fan of being sick. What usually happens to me in October happened this week because of the waytowarmforJanuary temps.

I am thankful...for the cold weather!Though I doubt I'd be saying that if I lived in, say...Minnesota, for instance.

In the kitchen...there is a mess and I really need to get in there and clean it up. Probably not going to happen. How does it get so messy anyway when only two people and one little dog live here? Oh, wait. One of the people is a male. :)

I am wearing...my workout clothes and a hoodie. It's cold in here.

I am creating...cookbooks for each of the lovelies. I found these neat-o (yes, I just used the word 'neat-o') scrap/cookbooks at Michael's ONSALE just before Christmas and I got one for each of the lovelies. I gave them to the lovelies for Christmas but they had to give them back so I could put recipes in there for them. I am filling the books with all our family recipes and all the things I've learned so far about going gluten free. I am putting the recipes in as written originally and then, at the bottom, writing how to make them in a healthier, gluten free, sugar free, lower calorie way.And I'm being very specific. One of them isn't even sure how to boil a chicken.

I am going...NOWHERE. I mean it.

I am wondering...whether or not we'll get lucky enough to have that rare to the low-country snowfall this year.

I am reading...The Psychology of Everyday Things.

I am hoping...that we get that rare to the low-country snowfall this year.

I am looking forward to...that rare to the low-country snowfall this year. IF we get it.

I am learning...something every day. For example, today I learned that Netflix only gives decent choices on independent films sometimes. Today is not one of those times. AND 1/4 cup of dried cranberries has 96 freaking calories in it. WTH?!

Around the house...it's very quiet. And it's been that way since everyone left after the holidays.Until the husband gets home from work. Then you'd think there was a party going on. A noise party. :)

I am pondering...if pro is the opposite of con, is progress the opposite of congress?

A favorite quote for today..."The light made the snowballs look yellow. At least I hoped that was the cause."

One of my favorite things...about winter is the hope for all that snow that we are so rarely allowed the pleasure of enjoying here in the low-country.

A few plans for the rest of the week: Work on the cookbooks; find this year's patterns for the knitted gifts for Christmas and start those now so I don't get behind thinking I can do this, no problem; organize...

A peek into my day...

See Tucker in the lower right hand corner? I had to move that book so he could get in the chair. He's much happier now. Everything had to be moved to the dining table. My desk is just to small to handle it. Mainly because Tucker likes to sit on the left side of the desk and look out the window for squirrels. I think our lives may be ruled by a little ten pound pooch.

I am also going to link up with FRIENDSHIP FRIDAY, a new blog hop from Create With Joy.

Friendship Friday

Friendship Friday was designed to help bloggers meet new friends and comes with a question every week. This week's question is:

What do you love most about blogging? That is SO easy! It's all of YOU! I had no idea when I first started blogging that my life would be enriched with new friends! But it has and I will be eternally grateful for each and every one of you!

Just click on the button above and head over to join in Friendship Friday. The linky will be up all weekend!

  1. Well Minnesota is actually quite the place this winter. We have higher than average temps (30-50s) with very little snow, unless you go to NW WI (and that is not MN!). Most of us winter lovers are sad that we can not play in the snow. I hope you get some down where you are.

Love the cookbooks that you are making. We should pass more things on (tangible things) to our kids. I am passing along some of my sewing skills this weekend with my lovelies, my daughters and DIL. We have "women" only sewing weekend at our cabin. They will arrive in a few hours. The GBS (only girls: 7 and 9 years) are coming, too. I will teach the boys, too, but this is for girls this our first time. So, lots to enjoy this weekend. Have a great time putting those books together. Michele from Minnesota!

  3. I love the peek into your life. The table looks like you are being very productive and I can tell those cook books will be a great gift that the girls will use for years to come.
I had the same idea once and started on them too, but it was an online site and once you finish the cookbook you get them printed. I still think I´ll finish them someday, but only when I can see that my girls start to cook.... LOL!

  4. Michele- Wow, that does sound a bit unusual for Minnesota! I guess a lot of US folks are having unusually warmish weather. I think it's absolutely fabulous that you're having the girls over for sewing weekend! Please take loads of pictures for us to enjoy! I love that you're going to teach the boys too. But there's nothing quite so special as a girls weekend! Enjoy your lovelies!

  5. TT- I do too! Thanks! I'm headed your way now!

Betty- That's one thing I love about pictures- they make me 'seem' productive. LOL Only one of the lovelies is a true cook. And one...well, you just don't want her in the kitchen. Good thing her hubby is a fantastic cook. LOL The other two...they are just now starting. Although one still comes over here for the real thing. :)

  9. I enjoyed that little peek into your life, Pam. What a great idea about those recipe books for your lovelies. Hope you feel better soon. It's not too good for the germs when it's too warm. Cold and crisp here today, but I haven't ventured outside, as there is a really cold wind. I can see that Tucker is a very spoilt and much loved pooch!! Enjoy the rest of your weekend my friend.

  11. itsjustme- I think most of us are ruled by our beloved pets! And we wouldn't have it any other way, would we?! Have a great weekend!

FG- I do feel better. Except for the cough that just won't go away. Thanks!

Eva- Thanks! I do feel better!

Diane- I hope they will enjoy the books. Especially the little quips and comments I've included! We're having a cold wind too. It blew in my face constantly during our morning walk. Brrrr...Still, it's way better than the heat! Have a great weekend!

Stephanie- SNOW?! YES, I want it! Send it right down here!

  12. Well tell Michele, in northern MN it isn't that warm, at least not the past week, it's been chillier, in fact this morning when I left to go to the gym it was -4 and now it's only 8* however it has been warmer even up here and I think they said into the high teens and low 20's this week. I can handle that.
I think one day I'll put together a recipe book for Mike. Especially if he's going to be away and cooking for himself.
Tucker rules your house like Wilbur and Scout rule ours and then there's Monster Bobby who thinks he just owns us all.
Have a great weekend Pam. Blessings my friend!!

  13. Stopped by via TSWDB. Whatta great gift idea those cookbooks are! An heirloom or sorts :)

My daughter has recently gone gluten free too - so we're in that boat w/ you. It's not so bad, really.

  14. Julie-Minus? Holy Cow that's cold! What's Scout going to do when Mike goes? Stay with y'all or go with him? Did I ever tell you one of my brothers is a Mike? Only we usually call him Michael. Thanks!

MofH- Thanks for stopping by! You're right, it's not bad at all!

  15. I'm visiting from the Friendship Friday blog hop :-)

I hope you are feeling better!

I love the cookbooks you are making -- I would love to do that someday for my kids although it would be more of baking then cooking since I don't cook very well but I love to bake :-)

And Tucker is very cute -- I used to have a cat named Tucker who was my baby - I still miss him -- sigh.

  17. I loved when you said this: "if pro is the opposite of con, is progress the opposite of congress?" This cracked me up! Unfortunately, I believe you're right!

I made cookbooks for my girls this Christmas also. It surprised me how long it took me to do!

  18. I have the Psychology of Everyday Things, it is very interesting to me. My BIL suggested it because we design software, and it really helped me look at things differently.

I was wondering if you every received your scarf?

Thank you so much for taking the time to comment! It makes me feel connected to everyone even though we may live far apart! Have a wonderful day!
