HUMP DAY HOPS!

Are you ready for a little Hodge Podge love and some chattin' on the porch? Want to get wired? Feel free to click on the links and join in the fun!

If you're here for Chats on the Farmhouse Porch or Get Wired Wednesday only, then scroll down.

First up is WEDNESDAY HODGE PODGE from Joyce at From This Side of the Pond.  This meme is fun and sometimes even poses a challenge (read: she makes us use our noggins!).

1. George Washington-Abraham Lincoln-Thomas Jefferson...who would you most like to meet and why?  Thomas Jefferson because I would love to discuss his philosophy (so hard when it has to be pieced together from journals, letters, papers, etc) and discover what it was like being part of the democratic revolution in America.

2. What's your favorite chain restaurant?  Right now it's Brixx pizza- they offer the gluten free option! And the pizza is really good!

3. I spied this question on the Bears at Home blog last week and she gave me permission to steal borrow it-

When you look back on your life, do you imagine you'll think about the goals you failed to meet with regret? Or will you look at what you accomplished and say: it was good? For the most part, I look at what I accomplished and say it is all good. I don't look at un-achieved goals as failures, but more as things that were not as important as once thought.

4. Grapefruit-take 'em or leave 'em? Given the choice between an orange and a grapefruit which would you choose? Would you prefer it served as is or squeezed into juice? Grapefruit = YUCK. I would, and do, choose an orange every time. As is please.

5. When was the last time you cleaned out a closet? Is there a closet in your home that currently needs cleaning? What are you waiting for?I sort of cleaned out one last month. Yes there are a couple that need cleaning. I am waiting for Armageddon. Apparently.

6. You get to have lunch with three famous people...who would you like to see round your table? I'm not a fan of famous people. Well, depending on what they are famous for. And is this dead OR alive? Hmmm...DoodleBug says she would like to have Alan Rickman, David Bowie and Joni Mitchell. Living, I guess I would like to see Michele Obama, Bill Cosby and Hillary Clinton. The list of those who have gone on is quite extensive and there is no way I could narrow that one down to only three.

7. On a scale of 1-10 how would you rate your ability to parallel park? That would be a -100. I can't do it to save my life.

8. Insert your own random thought here. I enjoyed such a lovely dinner last night with Hubs and DoodleBug for Valentine's Day.

I made salmon on fresh baby spinach and brown rice

and this delicious gluten free, completely from scratch, coconut cake. SO GOOD!
Here's the inside- and part of the card I made for DoodleBug

Hubs and Tucker after dinner.

Next up is a HUMP DAY HOP from Patrice at Everyday Ruralty called Chats on the farmhouse porch! Sometimes we get to visit with Wendell the wonder horse too!

Questions:
1. Did you do anything special for Valentine's Day? Not really. I am not much on Valentine's Day. I did prepare a meal for Hubs and DoodleBug (who came over from school to join us). You can see the pictures above.
2. What was the last craft item that you made? Valentine's Day cards for the lovelies and their fellas, my mom and her sister and one of my brothers and his wife. You can see part of DoodleBug's in one of the pictures above.
 3. Are you planning a garden? Are you swamped with seed catalogs? I am planning a garden but I am not swamped with seed catalogs. I have my seeds already and we don't usually buy seeds from catalogs. We just have a small raised bed area in the yard for growing veggies.
4. What cosmetics do you have in your purse? Zip. Ziltch. Zero. Nada. Don't do cosmetics.
5. When there is a room to be painted in your home, who does the painting? Well, Hubs does it but I do get in there and help- mostly with the prep work though, which I hate but it has to be done when Hubs is involved. He is such a perfectionist. I would paint but I kind of suck at it so I mostly cut in the walls and he does the rolling. He's really, really good at it but he really, really hates to paint. Oh, and he cuts in the ceiling part because he gets tired of getting the ceiling paint out to cover up where I get the wall paint on the ceiling. I try really hard not to but, like I said, I suck at it. Ok, truth. I hate it and I get bored which leads to getting in a hurry which means paint on the ceiling. And everywhere else. Including myself and Hubs. AND, this last time, I stepped in some and didn't realize it until I walked through part of the house. Yeah, painting is a real treat around here.
And NOW:
I'm wired are you?

  1. I laughed about your answer on the closets. Mmm, that coconut cake looks yummy. That reminds me I saw a delightful recipe on American's Test Kitchen I want to try and haven't, but it's not gluten-free,though. This isn't a problem for me, as it is for you. Of course the calories I can do without. lol I'd love to Bill Cosby! He's such a funny man! So you say Brixx pizza is good. We have a couple in town and we haven't eaten there yet. They sure to smell good. =D

  2. You sound like me with the painting. I tend to get in a hurry too - Biz just takes his time and does it right. Doesn't it drive you crazy when they make something look so easy!

  3. I am literally ROLLING....that minus 100 for parallel parking just has me in stitches. You and me both. I asked Bud for an answer and he said "You'd be in the minus category". So, yep, you and me.

  8. That is so funny about you painting. It made me laugh to think of you walking through your house. Only because I have done it.
Oh that cake looks so wonderful. How do you do it? I would sit and eat the whole thing with a fork.
The salmon on spinach looks yummy too.
It sounds like you had a nice evening. The sunflowers I will be sending are pretty big, I hope you have room. Birds love them so much I was lucky to get these seeds.

  9. I'm drooling over the salmon. Looks so yummy!

We paint the same way. Think we make the mess on purpose (subconsciously, of course)to get out of that boring job?

  11. Your salmon looks very similar to the salmon I made the other night. I'm not a huge fan of fish, but I do love me some good salmon.
I'd be interested in knowing where you're favorite sites are for gluten-free recipes.
    Happy day to ya!

  13. I'm always glad when you join in. Wendell says he's sorry about not being on the porch this week. He could be mad that he didn't get any Valentines. Sounds like you were very busy making cards. Now I'm off to read your post on clutter- my middle name!

  14. That dinner looked awesome!
I can't paint, no patience and my husband does a decent job but we really have to hire for the main rooms, only bedrooms do we tackle!
I'm a little odd, my closets are pretty organized, and thinned out, I have a tendency to enjoy it, cleaning keeps me stress free, so I do it often LOL

  15. Brenda- We love fish around here. Which is good since we can get it fresh anytime. I'll do a post about the gluten free sites soon. I think that will be the best way since people keep asking me! I think you'll like the recipes!

    April- They were! Thanks!

Patrice- What?! No Valentine's for Wendell?! That's terrible! Make sure you enter for the book giveaway!

Lucy- Hubs would shoot himself before he hired any work out. That or just never get it done. LOL Maybe I need you around here...whenever you get stressed, come on over! :)

  17. I sooo agree with you about grapefruit although my mom says pick them right off the tree and they are delish...maybe someday I'll find that out in person, who knows?

  18. Quiet- The cake was delicious! I can't nap during the day. Unless I want to have a major attitude problem. LOL

Cindy-I have never tried a grapefruit that I liked. Never. But Betty says they have sweet ones in Paraguay. Maybe we should try there. LOL

  19. Tucker looked like he was seriously chillin- so cute.

  20. Excellent outlook on unachieved goals!

Catching up and I read yesterday’s post. I don’t think I’m a clutterer because I’ve always had things get cluttered and then I spend a couple hours an clean it all. When the clutter has gotten too bad, my mind needs to reorganize. Clutter, uncontrolled clutter, makes me nuts. But Hubby is a clutterer. The only time it bugs him is when he’s lost something. Excellent post, tough!

Nani-I'm like you. I get mine clean up too. And the uncontrolled clutter makes me nuts as well. Hopefully Hubs will get it together soon because I'm at the nuts point right now. LOL

LynnMarie-Thanks! Closets are just no fun to clean out!

    auburn-I thought so too!

    Maren- Thanks!

Debby- I hadn't heard of it either but, believe it or not, Hubs had. It was really good! Thanks!
