Friday Fragments

It's been SO LONG since I've participated in Friday Fragment over at Half-Past Kissin' Time! And I have no idea why because it was always FUN!

I'm just going to jump right in and share the FANTASTIC news first- Deanie will be coming home the same day that Birdie comes! What does this mean? It means that ALL FOUR OF THE LOVELIES WILL BE HOME AT THE SAME TIME!!! I'll get Breezy for the weekend, Birdie for 5 days and Deanie for an entire WEEK! Of course, DoodleBug will be here too---but then, luckily, she always is as she only lives 10 minutes away! YAY!

Sunday was a fantastic day- Hubs and I sat around the house and watched 4 movies on Netflix. And that's all we did--Oh, wait- Hubs did serenade me on his guitar which I recorded and would post for y'all but I can't figure out how to get it off my phone. It was an awesome day! Except that, after the first movie, we had to watch two comedies in a row because that first one was FAH-REAKY! Watch it if you want, but you've been warned. Oh, the title? The Vanishing.

We've had rain this week! We still need it so I'm not complaining. And I'm trying not to complain about the upper 70 degrees either. But that's not easy. UGH. All this humidity coupled with the heat is wreaking havoc on my running regimen. It makes breathing nearly impossible. And, with no freezing temps to kill off the bugs, they will eat us alive this year.

Speaking of running, I got totally bored with my little learndtorun/runforweightloss schedule so I changed it up. I now walk the outer loop, try to run the inner loop, then continue walking until we hit 3 miles. Once I can run that inner loop without stopping, I'll add distance to it. When I can run 3 miles without stopping, I'll work on time. This is not easy when the temps are in the upper 70s and the humidity is 100%. But I will NOT let the weather stop me! Probably.

Every week our Spring Chick Challenge host, Stormy, gives us a little mini challenge (isn't she just the sweetest thing?--those last six words were dripping with sarcasm just in case you didn't already figure that out). This week's was to intensify our exercise regimen. Like I said, she's so darn nice. So I did it. I started Jillian Michaels' 30 Day Shred on Monday. What an idiot! (Me, not Jillian). I thought I would hate it because I think Jillian is a bully and whenever someone tells me what to do or that I have to do something, well...I either do nothing or I'll do the opposite. Surprisingly, Jillian is NOT a bully on this...at least not on Level 1. Today is Day 5 and the very first day that I can move without pain. Major pain. The first three days I even put off doing anything that involved moving because it hurt so bad to stand up, walk, sit down, breathe deeply... I know I'm doing the moves correctly because my thighs, butt, abs and arms are telling me so. At the end of 30 days, should I actually survive, I had better see some major results or Jillian Michaels goes on my sh*t list.

Ok, so related to running and the shred, while walking yesterday I looked down. What did I see? I saw my entire legs from the tops of the thighs down! I know this isn't a big deal to most people but to those of us who haven't seen our thighs in years because of a Jabba belly, it's tremendous!

Every once in a while I'll go to Bi-Lo instead of Whole Foods for the sake of convenience. I've caught them trying to scam me twice now. They have a very small organic section in the store. The first time I caught them scamming was when I was checking their price on coconut oil. Funny thing- on the baking aisle it was priced $13.29 but on the organic aisle it was priced $11.99. WTH?

So, I took pictures of both and brought it to their attention. Along with the fact that Wal-Mart sells the same brand for $5.98. They were not pleased. When I went in Wednesday of this week, I caught them at it again with the gluten free linguini. I took pictures with my phone- again--and they were not pleased--again. Really people?

I realize that we aren't talking big dollar amounts here but 1: it all adds up and 2: it's the principle of the thing. And I did NOT like that they acted offended because I pointed out their tactic. Poop heads.

That pretty much does it for this week! If you live in a place that is having winter-complete with snow- post pictures! It's the only way I can enjoy winter this year!

Have a fantastic weekend y'all!

  1. I remember Bi-Lo from our SC days, though we do not have that chain up here in the midwest.

  2. Oooooh, I sense a call to the local news station with this! Seriously, it's such manipulation and in these economic times, despicable!

You rock, by the way, for taking pics and saying something!

  3. I love your sleuthing tactics! They will put up a camera specially monitored 24/7 to check whenever you head inside their doorway :)

Your winter sounds incredulous this year. I recall how cold it was last year. I am SO impressed with your determination in sticking with your training programme. Despite the humidity and heat! Fantastic news that you are reacquainted with your entire leg surface areas! What an inspiration you are! Can't you please bottle some of that will power and ship it my way?

The news about all 4 Lovelies coming home at the same time is wonderful! I am so happy for you, Pam :)

  4. Love this! Thanks for the running encouragement. I finally started again yesterday. This is my 3rd time starting C25K. I just can't keep up the running during the winter, and last summer, I never did get up to 3 miles. Oh well. I have a new opportunity now! I will be on the lookout for price scamming in our local grocery store now. Thanks for the info. Have a great weekend!

  5. Keetha- I haven't seen this at Whole Foods and I don't shop anywhere else so I'm not sure if the other chains are doing it or not. But now I kind of want to go through their stores and check it out! LOL

Chantel-If it happens one more time, I just might call them up and have them investigate! Thanks!

Desiree- I definitely get the evil eye when I come in. I simply have to stick with it or the weight will NEVER come off! It's going so slow but, the good news is twofold- 1. it is coming off and 2. I'm discovering how to be healthier and healthier! Instead of shipping it your way, just come over and stay for a while. Then you can go out with me and walk/run! Thanks!

We've had pretty good weather this week, and the temps are slowly creeping up, but was down this morning again [bummer]. Happy to hear that your lovelies will come home :) Have a fantastic Weekend!

    Big hugs

  8. Woo hoo! You are a shoppers champion - go girl.

I think it is lovely that you will have all four of your girls back for a while. I can't wait to read about it!

  9. Shame! Shame! on the scammers! Good for you for bringing it to their attention. Congrats on the good work with your exercise program. We've had a very mild winter, too, and I've loved every minute of it!

  10. I've never heard of a store trick like that--I would be SO ticked! Good thing you have a good head on your shoulders.

Bravo on the Jillian thing--I've never made it to the end of her challenge.

Happy for your upcoming visitors! Have fun!!

  11. SO GLAD your daughters are all going to be there. Have a wonderful time!

Also, just to let you know that the same 14 oz. Spectrum Organic Coconut Oil is $7.99 on Amazon.com and of course there's free shipping on orders of $25 or more. (they should give me a commission for this, shouldn't they! lol)

  12. Eva- We haven't had winter at all this year. The temps are relentlessly in the 70s. I so look forward to winter to get a break from the heat and humidity. Not this year. I hope it's not an indicator of how summer is going to be!

Betty- Thanks! They aren't too happy with me but, who cares? LOL

Annie- Thanks! I can't wait to see them all in the same place at the same time!

Darlene- Thanks! I can't believe they did this twice! Makes me wonder about all the other products in the store! I have dearly missed winter. It's my only break from the heat each year.

Mrs- I'm juts so tired of the powers that be taking advantage of us! I can't believe I'm actually doing her shred-it's HARD! And it better give results. LOL

Judy- That oil is only $5.98 at Walmart. I'm buying by the gallon from Tropical Traditions now though. But yes, they should give you a commission! LOL

  13. How exciting to have everyone home at the same time!!! Can't believe they did that. The price should be the same on both shelves in the store. Have a nice weekend.

  14. Debby- I'm so excited already! It's always such a treat to have them here all at the same time! I agree about the prices too. I wonder how many other stores do this and how many other products in Bi-Lo are marked like this.

  15. Good for you for trying to keep the store accountable. I think we are ripped off more than we realize.

  16. I understand how special it is to have the family all with you at the same time. Our last holiday was with both girls and it was a good few years since we had all been together for Christmas, it was fabulous.

  17. Messed up pricing totally ticks me off. I would have done the exact same thing. In my local grocery store, the policy is to give you the item that rang up wrong for free. So incidentally, they don't have too many price mess ups. So happy that your girls will all be home together - what a fantastic treat :) Also, absolutely love your day of netflix and serenading. Can't imagine much better than that.
I've been MIA for a bit -- looking forward to catching up on your blog!
