Never

As in NEVER give up.

When I started my first weight loss/lifestyle change journey, I gave up. Or, rather, gave in (to that delightfully delicious oatmeal raisin cookie that jump started the revisit to my sugar addiction and the regaining of 83 pounds) and then gave up.

That was dumb. Stupid. Ludicrous.

There is absolutely NO NEED whatsoever to EVER give up on seeking a healthier lifestyle.

No matter how frustrated we get. No matter how annoyed we get. No matter how far we fall behind. No matter what anyone says. No matter who/what/when/where/how/why happens/getsinourway/thwartsourefforts.

Instead of giving up, change what you're doing. Find a different way, a new way. Try to make whatever it is you're doing more fun- add music, do a little dancing, whatever it takes. Find new recipes, enjoy a farmer's market, plant your own garden, find a buddy to help you out, get out and about more often, enjoy a night out with your significant other, play with your kids/grandkids, take up a new hobby... whatever you have to do to make YOU a priority!

Do whatever it is you have to do but NEVER give up!

Just keep going- one day at a time. And NEVER give up. NEVER.

I had to come back in and edit AGAIN:  Ok, discovered the pop-up problem on the blog. If your blog is getting something like this: the page at http://atat.ro says: Would you like some iGoogle widgets? Go here: http://www.google.com/ig/directory?type=authors&itemstype=gadgets&url=portal.romanesc%40gmail.com&start=0 and search the gadget list. If you have any of the ones listed, go to your blog and delete them. The pop-up will stop popping up!

This is the fourteenth day of the A-Z April Challenge. I thought I might try a theme this year and focus on my personal journey to health and fitness, including weight loss.

Today's letter is N and my word for the day is NEVER.

  1. You are so right. Gawd, I've been giving up these past few months and I can't. I simply can't. So thank you for these wise words and the battle cry of NEVER.
    hugs!

  2. I'm having trouble with your blog. I opened it to comment, but I got sidetracked a little ... after a couple of minutes I got a pop-up box from http://atat.ro asking if I would like some iGoogle widgets. When I click on cancel, I'm directed to a foreign website. Strange.

  3. Cathy- You're right- you cannot give up! Just keep going! No matter what!

Kathy- I keep getting it too and have not figured out how to stop it yet. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

  8. I needed this kick in the butt..I have not been exercising and my body is screaming at me to get back on the running track. Although my foot isn't completely healed, I can run short distances without pain so there is no excuse for my procrastinating. My problem is, I need a goal (race) to get me motivated.

I need to add NEVER (give up) to my affirmations....
    thanks for the kick start!

  11. "Instead of giving up, change what you're doing"
now that is really good advice!
As is "one day at a time".
You might like to know that you're inspiring me these days, already on 2 occasions when I wouldn't have bothered, I exercised cos I remembered stuff you had written. I've little or no weight to lose, so sometimes it's hard to bother exercising, but I do like to keep fit, and always feel good afterwards too.

Thanks for your lovely comment over at mine!

  12. Diane- I did! DoodleBug was over helping in the garden. Loved seeing your birthday pictures!

Shawn- It’s got to be difficult when an injury is involved! Can you run a little race? Which, for you, is a 5k, yes? Which is like a marathon to me. LOL Get up and get going girl!

GB- Are you saying you’re an ass? LOL

Sush- Thank you! I still have quite a ways to go, but I’m NOT giving up! You’ll get there!

Mimi- I’m so glad this is inspiring you! I wasn’t sure that using the challenge for the health and fitness topic would be worthwhile or not. You’re right- whether we have weight to lose or not, we still need to exercise to be fit! Thanks!

  13. Just after Easter I made the turn back to healthy eating yet one more time. I've started and stopped so many times I've lost count; but at least I'm still trying.

  16. Never Give Up...that was Matthew's moto, a childhood leukemia patient. He relapsed. He took an additional high risk chemo route for two more years...and he relapsed again. Finally he had a bone marrow transplant...and he is alive and well and 3 years out. Never give up :)

  18. NEVER give up!! Like never give up the thin mints, cause they only come but once a year. And never give up those homemade choc chip cookies, cause nothing tastes better....
    hmmm...wait, start over.
NEVER give up walking 20 min a day, cause it makes your heart so happy!! Never give up drinking tons of water!! Never give up a positive attitude!
    Thanks for the inspiration. :)
