Two Weeks Behind- YIKES!

It's past time for the Summer Sizzle update for the end of Week 9 and the beginning of Week 10 BUT I'm just in time for the end of Week 10 and beginning of Week 11. Confused? Me too.

I had a couple of wrenches thrown into play the last couple of weeks. During week 9 we had family visiting and, while I did plan the menu and kept it organic/natural/healthy, I paid no attention to how much went into my mouth. We were having way too much fun for that! We also did quite a lot of sight seeing so when you couple that with walking/running the dogs first thing in the morning- I walked many, many miles that week.

But the BEST thing of all that week? Well, besides the fact that we had family visiting? Ok, get this: we went to the farmer's market on Saturday morning and we parked on the third level of a parking garage across the street. Of course, we NEVER consider taking the elevator so we hit the stairs. Three flights. Going down, not a problem. Going up? Are you ready? NOT A PROBLEM!!! What?! That's right folks! I had no trouble walking up those three flights of stairs! This is a FIRST!!! The exercise is paying off! I am getting fit! I was leading the line going up too so the pace was not slow. And I made it! And I didn't have to stop or think I was going to pass out or have to stop and rest at the top before walking to the car! AND I could still breathe and talk!

Then Week 10 hit and so did a MAJOR case of hay-fever. UGH. It has interfered with EVERYTHING except walking the dogs. It's rather difficult to exert oneself when you're hacking up a lung and stopping to blow your nose every 10 seconds. My hope for this week is to begin the Synergy plan which is an eight week commitment.

Nothing will change with the food as that has become our daily nutrition at this point.

I'm still staying off the scale because I'm sick of letting it rule my mood about losing weight. I hate being ruled by anything, especially a inanimate object. There's no sense in setting myself up for failure. However, just knowing that my fitness level has increased has made for a tremendous uplift in the mood!

That's it in a nutshell! How are y'all doing?

  2. I'm getting to the point of staying away from the scale too. I need to focus on my eating and this week will be it. My sister is gone again and all is back to normal. Back on the "horse" for me!
    Hope you feel better soon!!

Non Scale Victory climbing those three flights!!! Write that down somewhere so you can go back to it when you get discouraged!!

  5. I hope you are feeling better now. Nothing worse than hay fever, at least with a cold you get better.
My scale needs a battery, I haven't changed it. When I get on I weight 60 pounds. I am okay with that. :) First morning it happened though, I about fainted.
I am glad you aren't letting that scale tell you what to do.
I hope you have a really great week next week.

  7. I tossed the scale years ago after I got to my ideal weight and have only used my clothes as the guide! I worried too much with a scale, then got bummed out, then ate more, etc...:)JP

  8. Stephanie- I was so danged excited when I got to the last step and was still alive! And didn't slow down the whole way! Thankfully, Birdie and DoodleBug were there too or else no one else would have been so excited with me.

Thanks Betty. I feel better but it's not over yet. Glad you're getting back to normal now! Hope I can do the same.

Deb- Thanks! That's a great idea. You're too funny about the wrenches! LOL

Julie- It made me wish I had stairs to climb around here! I was so excited! Glad you're getting back on track!

Kim- I feel better but it's far from over. I hate this stuff. 60 pounds- I WISH mine said that. I'm not letting it tell me anything right now. I hate that thing.

Mimi- Thanks! It's paying off, it's just too slow.

JP- Ideal weight. I wish I was there. Some days I just figure it's never going to happen. Other days, I think I can get there. It's crazy.

  10. Excellent, Pam! Good for you!

I went for a bike ride yesterday and was pleased and surprised that it was easier than it was the last time - much less huffing and puffing. :) I'm learning that the trick is to remind myself of that fit feeling even when the scale numbers disagree. :)

  14. Realizing that your fitness level is increasing is one of the best things about exercise. What an accomplishment for you to tackle and conquer those stairs!
I'm glad to hear you enjoyed time with your family and guests too - that is what life is all about!
