Fraggin' Time

One thing I've learned from being on break from school for the summer is that (and I might have said this before, haha) television sucks. I don't know who is programming this garbage but, really? Are there that many people out there actually watching this crap? Even the morning news programs are awful. Especially GMA (Good Morning America). They have just gotten over the top on sensationalizing the news and are appealing to a portion of the public interested only in pop news. I have to wonder how much the IQ's of Robin Roberts and George Stephanopoulos dropped when these changes took place.

I heard someone say something about people becoming desensitized to domestic violence. Really? How, exactly, does one become desensitized to something like that? Overexposure? I don't know. No matter how much I see/hear of it, desensitized is NOT something I become.

This week has been all about cleaning, clearing, washing... I've gotten rid of a few things via Craigslist and I have a few more to go. Furniture is being moved around and deep cleaning is getting done. It's either too hot outside or it's storming and there's nothing on television so I figure it's a definite sign to get off my duff and get this stuff done! LOL

Did y'all hear about those thieves (this was a few weeks ago) who search the newspaper for funerals and go to rob the family home while the family is attending the funeral? What I wouldn't give to see Karma when she gets those guys. Jerks.

Y'all know that DoodleBug moved back in after graduating for college. I've noticed that she still takes mugs/glasses out of the house and fails to bring them back. I've also notice that her cleaning habits haven't changed either. This should be interesting. Of the four lovelies, one is a clean freak like me. The rest are like their dad. Maybe I should move in with Deanie for a bit. LOL

I've used the Fragments as an excuse not to get back on schedule long enough so I'll wrap it up for now!

Hope y'all have a marvelous weekend!

*Friday Fragments normally lives at Half-Past Kissin’ Time, but  is staying at UnknownMami.com for the summer!

  1. I agree with you about TV shows today. The dumbing down of American continues.

Nice that you are getting your deep cleaning done. My house would probably fall apart if I did any major cleaning.... sigh.

Wishing you a marvelous weekend, too!

  2. You are so funny. If I had to watch TV all of the time I would poke my own eyes out.
When my Dad died, my Mom had weirdos come to the house, it was so scary. She had to get a couple of guys to come stay for a month to keep people from just showing up to take things.
But then she lived out in the country. Still it was bad and I was scared for her.
I am glad you have got so much cleaning done. Isn't that a good feeling? I have enjoyed that part of this summer too.
Well I hope you have a nice weekend. I am off to go spend some time with my boys, my grands. :)
They got to go fishing I can't wait to hear all about it. :)

  3. I'd love to rearrange/clean/clear/wash this summer, too ... but instead I quilt. At least it's productive and I have something to show for it. ha!

  4. Terri- Amen! I was afraid that my house would fall apart too but, so far, so good. LOL

Kim- So far everyone has been quite nice. Of course, I make them come when the husband is at home. I would feel even better if I was finished, that's for sure. Enjoy your time with your boys and grands!

Kathy- If I could quilt like you, I'd do it too! Your quilts are so beautiful!

  5. Oh seriously, your first paragraph sounds like a broken record to me ...meaning, I have said this over and over and over again. That's why we discontinued with cable TV. We don't miss it and the extra 50 bucks a month goes to entertaining us in different ways. We're lovin' it.

  6. OH! I SO agree with you about TV. I was forced to sit in a waiting room the other day with the TV on and it was torture!!! I have my son home right now and he does the same thing with cups and glasses.

  7. If you think daytime TV is bad, watch TV in the wee hours of the morning. It is TERRIBLE!

  8. I agree with you about today's television. It is crap. Most of it is just plain stupid and an advertisement for who will never drown because they are so loaded with silicone. How on earth are we possibly going to take news seriously coming from someone whose prominent feature is obviously not her brain? "Like, OM, you, like, really should buy this stock!" Good grief!

I'm glad that you're getting your cleaning done. I'm hoping to get the oomph to do that soon myself. Anemia has other things in mind. OY!

This whole thing about scanning the obits for homes to rob is an age old problem. When my father-in-law (a well known merchant in the town) died, they had to have a policeman stay at the house during the funeral to avoid such a thing happening. A few days ago, David and I were watching an episode of Dragnet from the 1960s, and such a scam was going on in that episode, too. It kind of makes you not want to make announcements about deaths, births, and marriages in the newspaper- age old customs that are a genealogist's dream finds in old papers.

I enjoyed your post. Have a great weekend!

  9. TV? What's that??? We're so used up by the time supper is cleared away, we are practically falling into bed already snoring by 8pm here. Do you think getting up at 5:30 am and playing with Grand kids all day might have something to do with that???? I am wondering about the migrating coffee mugs too. At the end of a day, I find them all over the property. If I left them, there wouldn't be any clean ones in the cupboard for breakfast! Hope you have a great weekend.

  11. I must say, TV Land that shows the old shows and The Hallmark Channel are our favorites other than watching sports. It's kind of sad, all those cable channels and very few good things to watch.
