The Jar

Last year (wasn't that just yesterday?), we decided to write down all the good, positive things that happened to our family throughout the year and put them in a jar to be read---today!

Here are a few highlights from our year in a jar:

  • Bestie's hubby came through surgery successfully
  • DoodleBug begins student teaching
  • A good friend does not have cancer
  • A good friend did not have a heart attack
  • Breezy's 28th brithday
  • Dad's cancer successfully diminished
  • Deanie's 26th birthday
  • DoodleBug graduates from college
  • DoodleBug goes to Europe and returns safely
  • Birdie gets engaged
  • Birdie finds her wedding dress
  • DoodleBug's 22nd birthday
  • Birdie secures job as athletic trainer for local high school
  • DoodleBug passes PRAXIS and gets job
  • Birdie's 25th birthday
  • Panthers are 1st in the NFC Southern Division
Have y'all tried this yet? It's a lot of fun to sit around and read the notes and realize how many good things happen in the family and with our friends.

Here's wishing y'all the very best 2014 has to offer and that y'all have a jar full of good things to remember!

  1. That IS a good idea... sometimes you can forget all the good stuff and it must be overwhelmingly nice to rehash it all at once. Happy New Year!

  3. What a fantastic idea! Imagine if we took the time to write down to every little thing that was good in a year. We'd need a jar the size of a doghouse.

Must do this year. Happy New Year!

  4. Cathy- I thought so too. Of course, it's copied, not original. LOL

Kim- There were a couple in there that ended up not being so good, but...LOL

Suzanne- We are going to try and do it every year. As the years progress, we'll have more and more to recall and enjoy!

  5. I did that too. I haven't gone through them yet and I haven't added anything since Thanksgiving but I'm sure I can remember back a few weeks :)

  6. Love this! I'm doing a memory jar this year, saving bits and pieces from 2014. I've got my first thing-the cork from our New Year's toast. All the best in 2014!

  8. Debby- We started our 2014 jar today and are ready for it to fill up even more!

Joyce- That's a great idea! I didn't think of putting mementos in there. I might need a bigger jar...we have a wedding this year. LOL

JP- I learn from the bad too but this is only for the good and positive things that happen. The husband surrounds us with negative so we like to focus on the positive.

    Coffee Lady- And to you!
