Long, Hot Hodgepodge

It's the middle of July. JULY. Good grief. This is too fast. And too hot. And too humid.

At least there's a bright spot, not brought on by the sun, on Wednesdays with the Hodgepodge!

1. The month of July was named for Roman Emperor Julius Caesar. He's quoted as saying, 'Experience is the teacher of all things." So what has experience taught you lately? That I am not a caregiver and would really prefer living all by myself.

2. Where did you last 'roam'? Hahaha I see what you did there. I don't do much actual roaming. But in my mind, I roam every day. Where? Can't tell. It's a secret and it's my happy place.

3. Speaking of 'Rome'...pizza, pasta, gelato...you can only pick one, which would you choose? Most likely, pizza.

4. 'Rome wasn't built in a day', 'All roads lead to Rome', 'When in Rome...' which 'Roman' idiom have you most recently encountered? Explain. Probably 'Rome wasn't built in a day' because of the time it takes to prepare for the upcoming school year. I've been working a couple of days every week. It's crazy!

5. What's a movie you've seen or a book you've read, that makes you want to book a trip to Italy? None. I have no desire to go to Italy. Though I do like that movie UNDER THE TUSCAN SUN quite a lot.

6.  Walt's original Disneyland opened almost sixty years ago, on July 17, 1955  Have you ever been to the California park? How about any of the other Disney parks around the world? What's your favorite amusement park ride or attraction? Yes! I went way back in the day with my aunt. She was teaching for a bit in Nevada and my grandmother and I flew out there to drive back with my aunt. We had quite the trip from the west coast back home to the east coast. Disneyland was one of our big stops! It was fantastic! I've also been to Disney World but wasn't as impressed. Probably because I was an adult when I went there.

7. It's that time of year...when were you last bitten or stung? I've been lucky enough to avoid that this summer. As a matter of fact, I can't remember the last time I was bitten or stung. UNLESS you're referring to gnats. Hate those things and they have quite a nasty bite. There is no way to avoid them.

8.  Insert your own random thought here. The summer of my discontent continues. I've been stuck in the house for weeks because my car broke. That man insists on fixing things instead of paying to have it done. Which is great except that he doesn't really fix things. When he does, it's half-assed and he's good with that. I'm not. Plus, due to an accident with a small propane tank, he's been home since the last week of May. Every day. Let me just say that it's been the summer of my discontent. The alone time I get during the summer break is the only way I recharge. I'm not recharging this year. Every single day of negativity and whining is getting on my nerves. Seriously.

On a positive note, Breezy's bestie got married this past weekend! I have a post scheduled to run on Friday!

AND my sweet friend, Katie, will have her book launch party this week! I'll take pix and put up a post next week for y'all! I'm planning a review and a giveaway of her first ever book! She's already working on book 2 and we're all so proud of her! You can read a little about Katie HERE and the link to her interview on one of our local news station is right HERE.

Have a great week, y'all!

  3. Judy- Molly and I are cracking up because I watch them all the time! LOL I'm staying cool by staying inside. It's also good protection from the buggies. Thanks! You need to come for a visit! :)

  6. Oh I'm sorry you're having a bit of a rough summer. I do think people who work in the school system definitely need that rest and break from all the noise and frenzy. I hope you can carve out some alone time somewhere before the school year kicks back into gear.

  7. Joyce- I found out Monday, when a friend/co-worker came to get me, that going up to school was a pure delight! And THAT was weird. LOL I'm sure there are lessons here for me to learn but my tendency towards stubbornness is in the way right now. :) Thanks!

  8. I think we could all use a secret, happy place. Sounds inviting!

    I would pick pizza, too.

The last time I went to Disney World was in the 80's. They tell me a lot has changed. It would cost our family too much to go.

  10. Michelle- It is helpful. Right? Who doesn't love pizza?! Everything costs too much for our family. The lovelies went with other people or on school trips.

Terri- It's a great movie! Thanks. I'm hoping for better before school starts back. But I'm not holding my breath. Sigh.
