The Hodgepodge is in the Pink

None of that lovely snow here. I'm still hoping that we get something. Just a little. Enough for a day or two or five off from school. Anyone willing to share?

I missed the Hodgepodge last week so I'm even more excited about it this week! Come on, let's see what everyone's talking about---

1. Do you wear your heart on your sleeve, or keep your emotions tucked in tight? I think I keep them tucked in but I have a friend from my college years who swears I don't.

2. How did you meet your closest friend? During our college years. At a bar, of course, where he worked and I played. I walked up to the cash register one night and he said, "Have you ever seen mincemeat?" I said no and he held up two peppermint patties and put them together. I know, groan. But I have adored him ever since. :)

3.  Pink lemonade, grilled salmon, cotton candy, pink grapefruit, a strawberry milkshake, or raspberry sorbet...of the pink foods listed, which one is your favorite? Least favorite? Which one have you most recently consumed? When you write, pink food, I get queasy. I guess the salmon is best and the grapefruit the least favorite.

4. When were you last 'tickled pink' over something? Explain. Does my dad getting the good news that his cancer is NOT changing for the worse count? Cause I was over the moon about that!

5. Are you a fan of television talk shows? Daytime, nighttime, or both? What's your favorite? Nope. Don't watch them.

6. When was the last time you wanted to ask a question, but felt too foolish to do so? I outgrew that years ago. I don't care how it makes me seem, if I have a question, I ask it.

7. My favorite activity right now is sitting.I get up and walk the dog by 5:30 every morning and then wash the dishes that were left in the sink AFTER I washed the dishes the night before. I make coffee, get ready to go to school and head out where I have 7 and 8 classes of little kids who keep me on my toes every day. Then I come home and wash the dishes that were left for me by the one who sits at home all day and then I prepare a meal and wash those dishes and try to do whatever work I need to do and any other housework because, God forbid, the one who sits home all day do anything at all. So, when I get a chance to finally sit, I quite enjoy it.

8.  Insert your own random thought here. I'm reading a book right now about kids who come back to the nest. So far, the woman who wrote it is an idiot. I'll let y'all know what I think when I get to the end. Let me just say that I already was NOT digging have one back at home. And now that another one has flown in, I'm looking for a new address. I cannot believe I was sad when they all left.

Do y'all know that commercial with the people with the holes in their necks talking about what not to do if you have a hole in your neck? I think it's a stop smoking commercial. I hate that thing. I turn it off every time. I don't smoke and I don't need to see why I should stop.

And that's it for me this week! :)

Have a great rest of the week, y'all!

  2. I had to laugh at #7 - my daughter and her fiance moved in with me and while my daughter is typically a neat freak, she does go in spurts where she didn't "notice" the dishes in the sink, and the reason the dishes are in the sink is because the dishwasher needs to be empty! :D

    1. Ha! At least she didn't 'notice' them. My 30 year old says she isn't going to wash them because, 'she doesn't like to wash dishes.'.Same thing with emptying the trash. Where did I go wrong????? LOL

  3. Watch to say...............well I am home all day and spend most of the day sitting on my big fat bum, ok not all day I have to take Leo to school most days and pick him up except for Fridays and today which is Thursday as his mum isn't working today so I told her she could take him to school and have to tell you she did in fact have a bitch about that but she did it, well she talked her sister into driving her and Leo after she dropped her son at school,

    1. Bear in mind that this 30 year old child has no health issues nor physical issues to keep her from doing things around here. She just 'doesn't like to do dishes' so she doesn't. It's that kind of thing. And it's driving me NUTS. LOL

  4. That sounds like good news. Glad his cancer hasn't changed and praying for his recovery.
When you find that new address I will join you there...........

  5. "the one who sits home all day"....I love how you phrase that. I feel the barbs as I read it. LOL. I hate those commercials too and I am a reformed smoker for 28 years.

    1. Barbs? What barbs? LOL Yeah, those things are disgusting and won't make a bit of difference to those who don't want to quit.

  6. I agree that the commercials are hard to watch and I cringe. But, I hope it scares some smokers enough to stop. I used to smoke and enjoyed it in my early 20's but gave smoking up when I got pregnant. One more reason I love my daughter!!

    1. I don't see it working. I have family members who just keep right on puffing no matter what they see or hear. I gave it up after college. I think I just did it to get me through the studying. LOL

  7. Here's to sitting MORE and OFTEN--and keeping our nests empty! Hope your situation improves, with time :)

    1. Amen to keeping the nest empty! :) Thanks, Kathy. I hope so too. How was the book, BTW?

  8. If only your favorite activity was washing dishes. You'd be in heaven. Good thing physical stuff can not be thrown over the internet but I'm ducking anyway.

    1. Wouldn't that just be fantastic? I mean, if stuff could be thrown over the internet. LOL :)

  9. Yay about your dad! Personally, I'm hoping that my 2 boys that left never come back, but of course I would let them if they needed to. I'd probably put a time constraint on it, though! ;)
I definitely think that as we get older, we don't care what questions we ask. Sometimes I ask questions just to see the listener's reaction. :)

    1. That's me. I hope they never come back but I let them. How in the world do we turn away our kids at any age? You are too funny! I'm going to have to try that!

Thank you so much for taking the time to comment! It makes me feel connected to everyone even though we may live far apart! Have a wonderful day!
