Then, The Rains Came

And they stayed. And they're still here. Our district cancelled school on Friday.  We're not sure about tomorrow.

Some areas are faring well, others, not so much. That's a gator in the Shadowmoss area, West Ashley.

This one is downtown Charleston at King and Huger.

And then, on the Isle of Palms...

There are plenty of idiots to go around. DEHEC has mentioned the likelihood of bacterial and viral infections and sewage backups so, yeah.

The storm drains are working but, we are in the low-country so, in reality, where is the water going to go?

Here are a couple of cars that will most likely be on Craigslist tomorrow.

A very good reason NOT to play in the water---

It's utter stupidity to be on the roads---

My house is in a no flood zone in Mount Pleasant. Even though we have lake front property right now, we're dry. Thankfully. The next shot is of a section of our back yard.

I asked Tucker if he wanted to go for a walk this morning. He declined.

A huge shout-out to my bloggy friends who have touched based via Facebook and/or email! Thank y'all so much for checking on us and keeping our area in your thoughts and prayers! I'm so blessed to 'know' each and every one of you!

The pictures not of my house or Tucker were taken from #charlestonflooding via Twitter where you can see tons more.

  1. We're not seeing this on our news down here yet. So sad to see that flooding, and happy that you are not in a flood zone. There is just nothing you can do when the water comes (or fire!). Two forces that we are nearly powerless against. Stay safe!

    1. I'm glad we're not in a flood zone, too. But I feel awful for those who are. Some of them have lost everything and the water keeps on rising. Same thing is happening to our north now. More will fall here this evening. The darn system is doing a 360.

  2. I am so glad you post when you do as you are on my mind constantly. When I read about Mt Pleasant I wondered how it was going. I am glad you are still dry. I just can't believe the amount of rain that just keeps falling. Yeah, I bet they do cancel school.
I will keep you in my prayers.

    1. It's crazy! And, it's circling back around to hit us again. It's pounding the north and south of us now and then will come back around to us, again. And, they did cancel school. I feel awful for those who have 3-8 feet of water in their homes. Nothing is worth having that happen.

  3. I lived in West Ashley and we would have tons of gators around our complex. I can't imagine seeing them swimming along the streets. I'm glad you're safe and fairly dry, Little River and North Myrtle Beach where I also lived had serious flooding as well. Seeing these pictures of people out in it does make you scratch your head in wonder doesn't it??

    1. Oh, man. West Ashley, downtown, and North Charleston are having the worst of it along with Awendaw and McClellanville. And, I think, Georgetown is getting it worst than those guys. Seeing those people out makes me certain that there are idiots in the area. And, if they get sick, they'll be so mad even though they were warned. Dumb. Asses. It's hitting north and south of us now and then will circle back around to hit us again. Good times.

  4. Oh so much water, I have never been in a flood and hope I never am, seeing things like this are upsetting, however, there are a lot of idiots who don't think and go out and try to drive in such weather and I don't get that stay home or somewhere else that is safe if you are told to get the hell out for your safety do so

    1. You would think people would heed the warnings, but they don't. It's spread all over the state now and some situations are bordering on dire. I feel terrible for those who have water in their homes. I can't even imagine having to go through that. I'm so thankful that we are dry.

  5. That is just incredible! Glad you are safe and don't have any desire to go play in the water! Thanks for keeping us posted, Pam. I knew Tucker was a smart little fella.

    1. It's just gotten worse and worse and spread over the state. We're out of school today also due to road closures. I'm concerned with the people whose houses were flooded but we're staying right here in the house. I had to pick Tuck up and take him out this morning. LOL

  6. So relieved your staying high and somewhat dry! Tell Tucker Maisie feels his pain. If a pup could cross her legs to keep from going out that's what she's doing.
Waterlogged is not a good feeling. xoxox

    1. I ended up putting puppy pads down, just in case. No, waterlogged is not a good feeling at all. How are y'all doing up there?

  7. I don't know what possesses people to think that they can drive through water like that - so crazy! Glad you are okay though!

    1. Thanks! What's worse than driving through it are the idiots who were paddle-boarding through. Sheesh.
