Rolling Around with the Hodgepodge

Hola, people! Wednesday again. I've been enjoying a few more days off and am ready for the rest of the semester to FLY BY. Unless we actually get some winter weather like snow, then I'm all set for time to do some slowing down.

While we wait to see what wintery wonderfulness happens (and we all know that NOTHING will), let's enjoy some time with the Hodgepodge!

1.  Speaking of skating...when did you last 'skate on thin ice', 'skate over the details', 'encounter a cheapskate', or just plain skate? I haven't skated on thin ice in AGES. That stopped when I got old enough to not care whether anyone approved of me or the things I do and when I stopped trying to please anyone ever. I can't think of a time I ever skated over the details. Cheapskate? Can't think of one. Skating? That goes WAY back to my childhood. Metal skates, anyone?

2. What would you say is the biggest problem of people your age? That depends. Did their adult kids move back in? If so, THAT is their biggest problem. Other than that, perhaps retirement concerns?

3. What's your favorite accessory? I am someone who does not accessorize. Every once in a while, I will put my mala beads around my wrist, but that's it. Is it something you wear every day, often, or only on special occasions? Only when I feel the need.

4. January 20th is National Cheese Lover's Day. Are you a lover of cheese? Not as much as I once was. What's your favorite dish made with cheese? Mac and cheese. Last thing you ate that contained some kind of cheese? Crock pot mac and cheese. I saw it on Pinterest and just had to give it a go.

5. What's something guaranteed to make you roll your eyes? Certain people who start telling a story I've heard five GAZILLION times.

6. Your favorite book series? THE DARK TOWER series. Stephen King, of course.

7. Why did you choose your profession? I didn't. It chose me. I did choose the stay at home mom part but the teaching part kind of just fell into my lap.

8. Insert your own random thought here. Ok, all you grandmothers out there, here's a question for you: How in the hell do you stop buying baby stuff?! HELP!

How sad all, and curious, all these deaths of some greats in the entertainment industry lately. I'm freaking out a little bit.

On a weather related note, please, if you are having winter snow, send some my way!!!

Have a great rest of the week, y'all!

  1. Laughing at your #8. I've told the story before, but granddaughter Lauren had my number early on. She was coming to visit for a couple of weeks when she was only 5 or 6. We went up to NJ to pick her up and visit with the kids awhile. One day we went to Atlantic City. Entering a tourist shop, Lauren was looking at the puka shell necklaces. I told her I would get one for her. She looked up at me and said, in the sweetest voice, "Let the spoiling begin!". You can't stop. Just sayin'... and they do figure it out! :)

    1. My grandmother used to tell the story of me telling a little boy in a store to stop crying and just ask his grandmother, she would buy it for him. LOL I'm sunk. Ha!

  2. adult kids - yes and it's an oxymoron too.
I would have loved to send the fluffy stuff down your way. However, this has been a mostly mild winter so far here. Probably make it through without a blizzard.

    1. Mild is all we ever seem to have where winter is concerned. Harsh is when summer rolls around. My least favorite time of year.

  4. I am experiencing our first snowfall right now. My little corner of the world is expecting to get around 4 inches today/tonight and on Friday 4 inches of ice and 12 inches of snow--this will shut down my town! I don't mind the snow, but the ice is a different story.

    1. Feel free to send some my way! If we got 12 inches of snow, people would go mad. LOL I agree about the ice. We've had that here before and I stayed in the house. :)

  5. So...kids haven't left yet, huh? :)
I will not be sending you our winter weather...I enjoyed staying in my pjs today too much! :)
Another day off tomorrow, and Friday is looking iffy.

  6. The problem is that baby stuff is just too cute!! Btw, I'm disappointed. I thought I saw on the weather map that you were going to get snow and I was imagining you delighting in the cold spell. Sorry, they must've got that one wrong. :-(

    1. You're exactly right! I wish! It's going to miss us, as it always does. We'll get thunderstorms with rain. That's about it. Unless Mother Nature takes pity on me. :)

  7. The baby stuff is just too adorable to resist now. About those kids....still there? Do they have plans to move or are they happy home with mama? Maybe 2016 will be the year : ) Nothing here now, although my teacher daughter tells me tomorrow we may have ice-yuck! I am not a fan of ice. I don't think I'm fully recovered from last winter, so a dry one this year would be okay by me. Enjoy your weekend!

    1. It really is. And yes, these dang kids are still here. It's like they're never leaving. I try not to make living here fun. Molly is planning to move downtown once school is out. She doesn't want to deal with a move while teaching and I get that. But she's been here for three years. LOL I don't think Maggie will ever leave. Never. Ice I can do without. But I sure wouldn't mind some snow. I hope the weather doesn't mess up the Panters' game on Sunday! :)

  8. To answer your question about baby stuff....YOU CAN'T!!! There needs to be rehab for grandmother shopping addiction. LOL
