Heating Up With The Hodgepodge

It's so nice to be out of school and enjoying every day even though it's hotter than HELL around here. Summer is a mixed blessing when you teach. Luckily, I don't have to go back so, every day is a good day! I'm up and out the door between 5:30 and 6:00 to walk Tucker and it's HOT, people. Even Tucker comes home and goes spread eagle on the floor. I need to get up to 6 miles so I can walk the bridge run in April next year. In this heat, I'm averaging only one mile. Somes days, we go two. That's not going to cut it.

Anyway, it's time for some fun in the AC with the Hodgepodge!

1. If you could sit beside and/or jump in any lake in the whole wide world today, which lake would you choose and why? Lake Norman. Because it's familiar and it's right in Dad's front yard.

2. What's your favorite 'fruity' drink? I am enjoying some fruit smoothies this summer. I won't turn down a virgin strawberry daiquiri or pina colada. I"m not much of a drinker.

3. I read a list here of thirteen things to do right now to simplify your life. They were-

clean as you go, re-evaluate your relationships (cut toxic ties), unsubscribe (too many blogs and websites), de-clutter, write down your daily goals, reply to emails right away, forget multitasking, create a morning routine, re-evaluate your commitments (which hobbies and responsibilities are most important to you), say no, clean up your computer, and plan your day ahead

Which of the tasks listed do you currently find most helpful in keeping life simple? De-cluttering. Which item on the list should you adopt in order to simplify your life this month? I've been de-cluttering since the nest emptied out and since it's filled back up, I'm still trying to get it done. It's not easy when you live with trash hounds. But I'm pushing forward!

4. What did you do the summer after you graduated from high school? I got ready for college. Which couldn't start soon enough.

5. Are you a fan of podcasts? Yes! If so what's a favorite? Right now, Curiosity Stream is my favorite. I also like Serial and anything by NPR and Ted. There are some hilarious ones too. And not enough hours in the day.

6. Do you think today's fathers have it harder, easier, or just different than fathers in the past? I never really thought about it. Don't they always have it easier? LOL

7. Tell us one way you're like your father? Well, there's the whole temper issue. And the love of football. And wanting things done a certain way. And the love of music. And..LOL Or not at all like your father if that's easier? I am not a man. Ha!

8.  Insert your own random thought here. The baby shower was such fun! Here's the slideshow in case you missed it.

  2. I love a fruit smoothie. I have to get back into the habit of making them at home. I would agree that most dad's have it easier than the mother. In both cases things are harder today because of our crazy world and the news media sharing everything instantly. A lot more things to explain to a young child.

    1. I love them too. They are rather a pain to clean up after, though. LOL There are a lot more things, I guess. My parents always hid things like the Vietnam war from me as much as possible so, maybe just different things? I don't know.

    1. I love it up there. But I stay out of the water these days. The fear of the unknown creatures has overcome me. :)
