Grateful Things Hodgepodge

Happy Thanksgiving Eve, y'all! It's been chilly here! That's right! We finally got us some autumn temperatures and I am thrilled! Of course, tomorrow it's supposed to be in the mid-70s so, it's over. But autumn will return by the weekend. When we have it, I'm most grateful for autumn and her cool temps.

I'm also grateful for Joyce and the Hodgepodge which always comes along at just the right time to provide a much needed and most fun distraction!

1. What's something you might say runs in your family? The gift of gab and the gift of humor. Both run neck-and-neck although the gift of gab probably wins by a slim margin most of the time. I mean, it's what we say that makes us laugh so...

2. I read here a list of ten things you should do before 2017 arrives (in less than six weeks!)...which tasks on the list might you do? I have some unwanted items going to Good Will, I've been working on organizing my photos on the computer but that's just such an overwhelming task and it's not over, I watch the sunrise most mornings...What would you add to your own 'before the year ends' list? I would add getting one bathroom painted and the new vanity put in, the outside German smeared (which was promised to me for October but, not a shocker, NEVER happened), painted, and the new shutters, posts and front door put up, and the kitchen cabinets painted. Loads of promises made but never kept. Again.

visit your Dr. or dentist, deep clean your home, donate unwanted items to charity, look someone in the eye and tell them you love them, write an honest letter to yourself, clean up your inbox-desktop-photos, travel to a place you haven't been, compliment a stranger, watch the sunrise, think ahead to your goals/plans for the new year

3. What's something other generations (not your own) misunderstand about your generation? I think they are unaware that some of us are neither conservative in our politics nor focused on material wealth.

4. Sweet potato casserole, mashed potatoes, and gravy, cornbread dressing- which would you miss the most if it weren't on the holiday dinner menu? The dressing since it only comes around this time of year.

5. What are you overthinking right now? Lots of things.

6. Your favorite slang word lately? Dang. It. Dang it. Does that even count as slang?

7. Write an acrostic for the word grateful. Just because I am trying to be more aware of those who suffer depression, especially during the holidays---

    1. LOL Thanks! I thought it was a good response, too! Are you having full out winter up there?

    2. No, it's been a very mild fall, and the brushing of snow we had has melted again. Where we are, we sometimes get nasty storms at the end of November, but other years we don't see serious snow until January.

    3. We're lucky if we get to see the snow that falls in other places. Ha!

  3. Enjoy the dressing! And, good luck around the table! Maybe if we keep our mouths filled with dressing we can't fight about politics! ha Happy Thanksgiving!!

  4. Nice acrostic, Pam. And I so agree about the dressing. And I wonder why we don't make it more often. Honestly, I only make it at Thanksgiving. That's ridiculous, considering how much I love it. Anyway, have a wonderful Thanksgiving.

    1. Thank you! I know why I don't make it more often- it's a long process. But it is so delicious. I'll eat so much of it that I'll definitely need my stretchy pants. LOL Happy Thanksgiving!
