This Kid

I'm sure you know I'm talking about Baby M because, who else. What is she up to today? Smiling, of course!

Why is Baby M happy?

Because it's autumn? Nope.

Because Santa's coming soon? Nope.

Becuase she loves her grandma so? Nope.

Baby M is smiling because of Little Bear:

This kid LOVES Little Bear. She always wants to look at your phone or computer so I thought I'd put something on more little bit appropriate. I figured this would be way too much for her just yet but Little Bear is so awesome (translation: Grandma can tolerate it) and found out Baby M LOVES it. She smiles at Little Bear, she talks to him and she chuckles. It's the cutest thing.

So, thank you, Else Holmelund Minarik and Maurice Sendak, for writing and illustrating the Little Bear series. Baby M gives them two thumbs WAY up!

  2. She is adorable and I'm amazed at how her features have formed now so that she looks like a toddler already! Happy girl indeed!

    1. She's changing and growing so fast! She wants to do so many things that she just can't do yet- like walk! I keep telling her how important it is not to skip the crawling phase. :) Thank you!

  4. Great smile. Certainly don't want to start a disagreement and your teaching background gives you plenty of knowledge - but - don't you worry a little about all the screen time the latest generation is getting from the very beginning? I know there were worries about TV time back in the 50's too. This probably is similar so I guess the answer is to be sure their exposure to reading, books, music, etc., is equal or greater. I'm sure baby M gets plenty of book reading time too. I brought this up more to get your opinion than as criticism.

    1. Yes, I do. She's very limited here, at my house. Not sure how limited she is at her house, though, with a computer guru for a dad. I've written about technology and kids many times. I taught computer to elementary students and the topics I covered a million times each year in my digital citizenship and internet safety sermons was the importance of limiting their time in front of ALL SCREENS. No one will ever sell me on it being fine for kids to spend hours every day in front of a screen of any kind. I will soapbox on this issue and people around here know that. Which is why they never talk to me about it. LOL But yes, I agree with you on the screen time. That being said, exposure (extremely limited) is important from a young age since they are growing up in the digital age. If they aren't comfortable, they'll get behind. That doesn't mean I want to see little kids under the age of 5 sitting there with a hand held device. Yet, I see it all the time. That's just lazy parenting and I'll say that to someone's face. Baby M gets about an hour of screen time a week over here, IF that. We are way too busy learning to sit up by ourselves, reading books, and dancing to the tunes of the last century to sit in front of the screens. :) OH! And I did not take it as criticism at all. This is a subject on which I am passionate.
