Grown Up Kids Are Still Kids

No matter how grown up we get in this family, we LOVE games. I hope this never changes. Last year was the first year of playing the gift card game. We enjoyed it enough to try again this year.

I'm not sure why I only took pictures of one side of the room but, here you go:

Everyone takes 3 numbers because everyone gets three gifts. A gift can be stolen 3 times before it's dead. There are gift cards hidden inside some of the gifts and, while you do have to show people your gifts, you do not have to tell whether or not you know there is a gift card inside. I like to think I'm rather clever at hiding gift cards inside the presents.

Then there's the pickle that is hidden on the tree every year. The kid who finds the pickle first gets the pickle prize.

They are just like little kids about the pickle! SILExtraordinaire was the first one to run out and start looking. I had to make him wait until everyone else was in the room. Silly boy. :)  They nearly attacked the poor tree and even partnered up- you go high, I'll go low! It was so much fun watching them.

In the end, Deanie found the pickle and when her sisters groaned, commented, "Whatever, I haven't found this dang thing in, like, 6 years!"

LOVE having these people all together under ONE ROOF!

The grandparents have arrived and we have more celebrating to do! I'm holding onto and enjoying the fun and not focusing on the fact that people are going to leave on Monday. This momma is loving every second of this year's holiday spectacular!

In case I don't 'see' y'all, I wish you and yours a very HAPPY NEW YEAR!

  1. Sure looks like fun, Pam. I know it's wonderful to have them all there. Carrie B. from Northwoods Scrapbook blog has a game their family plays too, regarding gifts. We're such a big group now, we need to adopt some of these ideas. Have a wonderful New Year's, Pam.

  9. So funny, looking for the pickle! That really does tickle me. Yes, it doesn't matter how old they become, they are still our little girls. My eldest is 45, and the youngest is 38!
