Cinco de Hodgepodge

Since the last few months flew by at the speed of light, I'm hoping the summer months will do the same thing so the oppressive heat will come and go quickly. The humidity has been so bad here that I've had a hard time breathing INSIDE THE HOUSE. This may very well be the year the humidity finally kills me.

Thankfully, the humidity is giving us a slight break and it's Hodgepodge day so today is a win-win day! WooHoo! Head over to Joyce's for the questions and link up with your answers!

From this Side of the Pond
1. Can you tell I'm embracing a Cinco de Mayo theme here this week? Do you like Mexican food? Not really. What's your favorite dish? I do make that taco pie dip that I like a lot. How about on the side-black beans, pinto beans, refried beans, rice? You won't find me asking for any of that on the side of anything. However, refried beans do go in the taco pie dip recipe. What about heat-mild, medium, hot? Extra mild. Will you celebrate with Mexican food and drink on May 5th aka Cinco de Mayo? Nope. I've never celebrated Cinco de Mayo and do not have any plans to start.

2. Ever been to Mexico? Yes. For work or holiday? I was 12 so... Love it or no? Nope. If you haven't been is this a place you'd like to visit? I think I would have been more impressed had we gone further into the country instead of just crossing the border so we could say we went to Mexico. My grandmother and I had flown out to Nevada to drive back to SC with my aunt. We took the southern route home and crossed into Mexico just because we could. Can you speak Spanish? Not anymore. I know a few words but I didn't stick with it from college. I wish I could. It would have been so helpful when I was teaching.

3. What's one thing you may accomplish this month? The purge of the attic and getting all the stuff donated somewhere.

4. If you were mayor of your village, city, or town, what's one thing you'd like to see changed, done away with, revamped, or accomplished? I would stop the growth and over-development IMMEDIATELY. They are ruining our environment around here just to pad their pocketbooks and I've had enough. Is serving in public office something you've ever seriously considered? No. I can't stomach playing politics with rich people. And it wouldn't be worth the jail time.

5. What's something that may be popular, but that you just don't get? Those stupid dirty jeans (of course I never get fashion. Just wear what you want to wear, people.)  And the Cloud. I just can't wrap my head around the Cloud. I'm not a total dork when it comes to technology but this one evades me. And the man bun. I'm on the fence but here's the thing, it doesn't look good on everyone. Plus, I'm not a huge fan of the clique who mostly sport man buns. Like hipsters. Who are pretty much awful. Ew. How about social media games? Seriously, if anyone ever sends me another game request via social media, I'm unfriending them and that is that. Do they even realize they're doing the marketing for the company who designed the game and that company is the only one making any money from it???

6. Can't let this week slip by without mentioning Thursday May 4th is Star Wars Day. As in 'May the 4th be with you' ahem. Are you a fan of the Star Wars series? Yes. Exactly how much of a fan are you? On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being 'I've seen every film, own the action figures, might have dressed as Darth Vader for Halloween one year', and 1 being, 'what's a Vader?' -where do you land? I'm probably around a 5 because all I've done is enjoy all the films. Lovely4 and I have been known to have Star Wars weekends where we hunker down and don't come out until we've watched all the films. Because we own them, of course.

7. Scroll back through your blog posts and in three sentences or less tell us the general theme of your fourth blog post.  Does it still ring true today? Hahahahaha! No. Is it a topic you re-visit on your blog from time to time? I was writing about the things I tried to fill the newly freed up time of being an empty nester for the first time and the 4th post was about organic gardening. My efforts were an epic fail though I sounded so positive and hopeful at that time. I'm also not trying to figure out how to fill empty hours as I now have none due to the Etsy shop and this sweet face:

8.  Insert your own random thought here. I'm surprised to have any thought in my tired head at all. Baby M's mommy has a tough schedule right now which means so do I. It was so much easier teaching computer classes to 700+ plus elementary students than it is keeping up with a 9-month-old. But the rewards are so much better! :) If you missed the video of her showing me I couldn't keep her from going behind the little rocking chair, here it is. Please note the smile she turns to give me when she figured it out.

    1. My hair doesn't frizz but my lungs can't seem to take deep breaths with the humidity. And yet, I continue to live here. Go figure. LOL She's a total joy! And a little bit stinker. :)

  2. I agree with you on the many trends that seem to be popular. What are people thinking???
Yes, I agree, teaching a class full of students is easier than keeping up with a mobile infant. You should try keeping up with twins, I did!
    Enjoy your week,

  3. Man buns are not for everyone! Absolutely agree with that sentiment-ha! Thanks for asking about my west coast girl. She is feeling great and has the belly to prove it : ) We have a hard time containing our excitement, plus three of my friends have just added granddaughters to their families and everyone is a little gaga. Can't wait for my turn!!

    1. Hahaha! Right? I'm so glad she's doing well. That just adds to the joy, doesn't it? I know y'all are excited. I could barely contain myself the first time. Will you and your sweet hubby fly out when she goes into labor? Or maybe before? You have a wonderful family and I'm so happy for all of you!

  4. I don't know how you get anything at all done with that cute little energizer bunny around! The man bun. I love how people try to be individualistic... like everyone else. But really, I honestly don't care what men do with their hair, just so they treat our daughters well. Unlike you, I'm not doing well with the purging project.

    1. I don't. Not one darn thing. Individualistic like everyone else...LOL So true! That's a good point! Three of my 4 have men who treat them well. The other one had a dud the first time around but I hope she won't give up. The problem I'm having with the purge is I have to wait on someone to go up into the attic for me. That's like waiting for you know where to freeze over. LOL

    1. I can't understand the Cloud to save my life. I feel like I'm not keeping up with Baby M. She's on full steam ahead every day and I'm on where's the Geritol. LOL Thanks!

  8. I'm with you on your #5 answer. I still laugh at that stupid virtual farming game on FB years ago. What a dumb idea to me but I guess someone made money on it. I don't get the ripped jeans. Actually a long post could be done on the "I don't get it" topic.

    1. You know someone did make money on that game. Tons of money. I never got the ripped jeans either and now they're putting dirt on them. Here's an idea- go outside and do some work and your jeans will rip and get dirt on them. Two-for-one! LOL I don't get it would be a fun blog post to write. :)

  9. Hehe...Agree with you! My daughter actually turned a nice pair of jeans into ripped jeans and I just don't get the attraction of it :)

    1. Turning them into ripped or dirty jeans yourself is one thing. Paying $450.00 for a pair is another. LOL

Thank you so much for taking the time to comment! It makes me feel connected to everyone even though we may live far apart! Have a wonderful day!
