Hump Day HOPS!

It's time for the Hodge Podge and some Chattin' on the porch!

1. The Summer Olympics begin next week and London is playing host. If you had the chance to go in person which (non-Olympic) London site would you most like to visit? I was going to say that- I don't know and that it's not a place on my 'wouldliketogothere' list. However, Birdie and Evwardo are over there right now and they posted a picture of the fish and chips they were having for dinner and now I want to go anywhere in London that I can get fish and chips like that!

2. What is something in your life right now that feels like an Olympic event? All the purging that I'm trying to do.

3. What's your favorite supper to prepare and serve when it's too hot to cook? The one that someone else prepares. Or frozen yogurt.

4. July 18th is National Get Out of the Doghouse Day...when was the last time you were 'in the doghouse'? Wait. What? I've always known the doghouse to be an exclusive male only club.

5. What television advertisement do you find particularly irritating or inappropriate? You may not answer with 'all of them'. I know some of you were thinking about it. Well, all of our local ones are so freaking stupid I can't believe they even put them on television. It's like they only hire morons for those things. And some of them yell at you. Ohohoh! I REALLY HATE that Direct Auto Insurance one with that dude in the red racing suit? HATE it--but then, I hate NASCAR so that's most likely a factor...plus the fact that it's STUPID! And any of those pharmaceutical ones.

6. Share one piece of interesting news from the year you were born. NASA was created.

7. What's the best part of your average day? The part where I sit down and tune out.

8. Insert your own random thought here. I hope Birdie and Evwardo don't post anymore food photos of their trip to London this week. I'm not sure how to explain that I have to go over there just to satisfy hunger cravings.

Everyday Ruralty

QUESTIONS

  1. What's your favorite room in your home? That really depends on my mood. But right now, because Birdie's shedding dog is with us, there's too much dog hair all over the house to be able to enjoy any room. Seriously, twice/day is the LEAST I vacuum...sheesh.
  2. If you could go anywhere on a vacation, all expense paid, where would it be? Maine or Alaska or Scotland. Those are the only places I really want to see.
  3. Were you a girl scout or in any similar program? Yes. HATED it. I wanted to be in boy scouts because they had way more fun and got to do much cooler stuff than we did.
  4. What's your favorite frozen treat? I totally dig frozen yogurt!
  5. Are you NASCAR or the elderly lady with the pillbox hat when you drive? NASCAR and they had BETTER get out of my way. Especially now since I STILL HAVE NO AC IN THE CAR.

If you click on the buttons above you can easily join in the Wednesday fun!

  1. Alaska would be a cool place to visit, if I weren't such a big chicken when it comes to travelling by air or boat. But, Maine I can get to by way of car and we've gone there three times. I'm ready to go back again!

Come by to check out: Chats & Hodgepodge

  3. Cathy- I'm a big chicken in that respect also. Which is why I haven't ever seen those places. LOL

Kim- Thanks! Yeah, one of these days a cop is going to stop me and explain why NASCAR thinking is not a good thing. LOL

  5. Of course the doghouse is exclusively for males! Great answer 'cuz I never really thought about it before. Now I have - and you're right.

  6. Alaska is amazing! I've been twice (about a hundred years apart!), both times on cruises.

And annoying commercials? Any and every political ad. I don't care what side they're from - I either forward over them or mute them or turn the channel. :)

  7. If you come to Scotland, you will come and visit me, right? :)
And Alaska would be amazing ... I wouldn't normally be one for a cruise, but I think an Alaska Cruise with whale-watching would be incredible.
Off to do some more daydreaming!

  8. NASCAR always makes me want to nap...
i don't understand why it's a sport...seems more like a science experiment or research activity (increasing engine capabilities, finding new gasoline expectations, cleaning up functions for vehicles)

  9. The fish and chips are as good as they look in London :)

  10. The fish and chips were amazing!!!
Great answer for #3. I agree with your answer on #4 and my husband is always in the doghouse. Glad they are having a nice trip in London.

  11. I love the fish and chips too...and the Indian curries. Better than in India according to hubs.

I dislike any commercial where people yell at me.

  12. Fun answers! Interesting about the Olympics. Knew a guy headed that way to compete for Haiti in taekwondo, but Haiti lost its slot for that event. So much behind the scenes drama. Not really relevant to your questions, but that was on my mind.

  13. I notice a theme with the frozen yogurt - like it much? LOL!! I love frozen yogurt, even though it doesn't like me back ;)

Great answers! Enjoy the rest of your week.

  14. I agree, that commercial is extremely irritating and annoying. DO all the commercials have people with a southern accent? Is it because you're part of the south? NASCAR is about the stupidest thing men could think of, I guess that explains why they're always in the dog house. You're too funny :)

  15. I thought I vacuumed a lot! Maine, Alaska, and Scotland are all on my bucket list.I think Boy Scouts had a better deal too. Frozen yogurt is wonderful. Love the NASCAR comment.:) lol Wendell is looking forward to the party and made me promise you would be there. Have a good week!

  17. Mama- Thanks! All I know is I’ve never been in the doghouse but the husband lives there. LOL

Stephanie- Thanks! I do so enjoy being right. LOL

MMS- Lucky! I would LOVE to go there! Oh yes! Political ads. HATE them!

Croft- Of course! Breezy and BestSonInLawEVER went to Scotland on their honeymoon and were ready to move there right then and there!

skoot- NASCAR is so stupid. To me anyway. And the fans are even worse. LOL

Theresa- AHHHH!!!! I WANT some NOW! 

Debby- I’ve just got to have some! That might even get me on a plane. LOL Mine is always in the doghouse too. They just don’t learn, do they?

Joyce- I’ll have to tell Birdie and Evan to try the Indian curries while they’re there! I’ll let you know what they think! I don’t like commercials that yell either. And our local ones do that a lot.

GP- Thanks! I never thought about behind the scenes drama. Interesting.

Arlene- Like it TOO much. LOL Thanks! You too!

Alessandra- No they don’t all have a southern accent but since he’s a racecar driver, they gave him one. And it’s a bad one too. I agree that NASCAR is the stupidest thing ever- or at least one of them.

Patrice- Can’t wait for the party! Maybe one day we’ll get to have one in person!

  18. Stupid commercial; agreed! I kinda thought the doghouse was a boys club too. Women can be in the doghouse? Wassup with that?

  19. Wow you never fail to make me laugh. Still no air conditioning in the car? Bummer.
I ditto on the dog hair, I am going nuts. I keep vacuuming like it is my favorite hobby right now.
Maybe it means a early winter. Or in your case just a winter would be nice.
We are having hot muggy rain right now, do you know how humid it is?
    Gross,
    Have a nice evening.

  20. We plan to go to Maine someday ... it's fairly far down on our "bucket list". But Alaska ... that's much higher up. We want to do an Alaskan cruise ... where we sail up to Alaska along the inside passage, have some time on land, and then sail back (I'd rather take the glass-topped train back, but that's just way more money than I can justify ... on top of the $$ for the cruise and for time on land).

  21. Love this post! Made me laugh, which was much needed!

  22. With your hodgepodge answers I especially like the #4 and #7...especially #7...if I could only be like that....I envy those who can tune out of their surroundings and just be 'alone' in their thoughts.
