Summer Sizzle- Week 6 Update; Week 7 Deets

It's time for the Summer Sizzle update for the end of Week 6 and the beginning of Week 7-

Anyone else HOT out there? And, by HOT, I mean sweating buckets upon buckets every single day even when not exercising? Yep. Me too.

On to the update-
  • I tried the Sprint 8 three days. It's fine- but too soon to tell how it's going to affect any fitness/weight loss so I will continue until I figure that out.
  • I'm still walking/running 7 days/week every week- even in the heat/humidity and even when it rains. I walk Strider, come back to get Tucker and then walk him. After the dogs it's ME time- I walk/run another 2 or 3 miles- except on the Sprint 8 days. I average about 5 miles/day.
  • Still drinking the hell out of some water every day. It can't be helped. Did I mention it's HOT outside?
  • Still not counting calories but still keeping food intake healthy only (except for those darned dark chocolate edamame that jumped into my cart at Trader Joe's. Again.).
  • Still juicing daily.
  • Was successful with this week's challenge of eating vegetarian.
  • I lost 1 pound.
Week 7 - (begin July 15) - COMMIT TO AND SIGN UP FOR A 5K
Ok this one will be easy on the commitment part and difficult on the sign up. I plan to run (maybe walk) a 5k on Thanksgiving Day in Charleston--the Charleston Turkey Day Run and Gobble Wobble. We can't sign up until the fall. Besides, just signing up for one doesn't do one thing for making me commit to actually DOING it. So, I'll just continue training and sign up when we're allowed to do so.

And there you have it. Short and sweet!

Hope everyone had a great week and has an even better one coming up!

  1. You still lost a pound!!! That is so great. Last night my daughter had posted a movie from 2009 and my husband said, " Who is that skinny lady in the picture?" I was a blond then too. :) I had to admit it was me. I need to be out there again doing five miles.
You are doing so great Pam, now I need to get off my duff and try and stay up with you. :)
    Have a great week!

I understand with the signing up for the 5K - now that I think about it,I am not even sure I can sign up for the Fall Foilage 5K yet either.
Good point! But at least i know which one I will do - and it sounds like you do too! Good luck this week!

  3. My commitment is faltering...but I love reading how you pull through. You inspire me to try harder and I WILL this week. Even though there will be many temptations...
    Thanks you for inspiring me!

  4. Dark chocolate edamame...sounds like health food to me. Must look for some.
Good for you to be keeping true even through the humidity. Yesterday was our hottest so far and I guarantee I wasn't running anywhere. Today, the rain has made an appearance...the cool is quite welcome. I'll share with you.

  6. Kim- Still wish you lived closer! We could walk together and lose the weight together! You'd need to come here though- hot as we are, we aren't as hot as y'all are! LOL

Rochelle- Yes! Humidity does make it worse. Every day it makes it worse. LOL That's what I'm saying- at least we know which one we'll do! Can't wait to hear all about yours!

Betty- NO! Say it ain't so! Come on now- mother of the bride- you want to feel great at the wedding and all the festivities leading up to it! Don't do like me and put it off! Get moving! :)

Stephanie- It sure is good! How hot does it get up your way? Lucky you with a cool down AND rain! Thank you so much for your willingness to share- I shall wait with excitement!

Annie- Thanks! I hope I'm ready to run it by then---instead of killing myself over it. LOL

  8. YEAH for Pam, YEAH!!! See me doing cartwheels.......well not really cuz...well I'd land on my butt if I could even get one started. But the thought is there.
I need to recommit too Pam. It's just been so darn hard to get back into it. I'm following the rules but not with any heart and I need heart to make this work.
And yes, it's hot. Today 90 and not to humid, tomorrow 100 with 112 heat index...at least that's what they are saying. I'll get my walk in at 6 and will try something in the evening in the house.
Take care Pam and have a blessed day, week.

  9. Congratulations on losing a pound. It seems especially hard this time of year with so many bbq's etc. Plus when its hot I tend to eat later (not less, just later)
I hope you run that 5k and inspire us.

  10. Wow! That's a great week! I'm so impressed with all your walking! It takes quite a lot of commitment to go out for a walk given that it's so hot (I can relate to heat; it's over 120 degrees here!!).
Good luck with week 7 :)

  12. LP-Thank you so much! Supportive comments like yours help so much!

Julie- I'm right there with ya on the cartwheels thing. LOL I know how you're feeling but remember, this is YOU time. Take it and get even fitter than you already are so you can continue to hike and run and all those wonderful things with Mike when he gets home! You can do it!!!!

Kim- Thanks! It does take commitment but it also helps when TWO dogs stare you down until you go for those walks. LOL I hope I can run it too. It's so hard to see me doing it right now. But I'm still trying!

Plum- Thanks! Commitment AND dogs. LOL Oh gosh, if it was that hot here I'm sure my commitment would flee! LOL

Kody- Thanks! Yes it is! Good luck!
