A Pocket List

It's Monday and time to join Stasha over at The Good Life for Monday Listicles!
Each week Stasha gives us a theme for our lists. This week, we our topic was 10 Things In Your Closet.

This week the list is all about 10 things we carry in our purses. Since the lovelies have all grown up, I am down to a Vera Bradley change purse/key chain that holds all I need- driver's license, debit card, insurance card and social security card. BUT, when they were growing up- oh my goodness! There was hardly a purse large enough!

All you have to do to join in with this week's list is click on the button!

TEN THINGS IN MY PURSE WHEN THE LOVELIES WERE GROWING UP:
  1. Snacks. Just little ones like a pack of crackers. You know, just in case we happened out and they got hungry. Or we got trapped in the car by a rabid Saint Bernard. (I was an avid Stephen King fan from college all the way until...well, I still read him). Oh, and there's water in the trunk of my car to this very day.
  2. A small first aid kit. Two of the lovelies were tomboys and one was a little on the clumsy side. The other one just loved to have bandaids.Oh, and chapstick was kept in there. They loved it then, they love it now.
  3. Ibuprofen. I had 4 kids- this was for me.
  4. Wet wipes. Obvious, yes?
  5. Sewing kit complete with needles, thread, straight pins, safety pins, buttons, etc.
  6. Speaking of pins- bobby pins. Along with hair ties, brush and comb. 4 daughters- nuff said.
  7. Tape- scotch, packing and duct.
  8. Notepad and pens. I can't even begin to tell you how many games of Dots and Hangman were played over the years. And you should see the doodles!
  9. Address book.
  10. Whichever chapter book I was reading to them at the time so we could read while we were waiting on our turn or at a draw bridge (we do live at the coast after all).
I could go on. But I won't cause we only needed 10. :)

It's a sad day around here. The Super Bowl marked the end of this football season. Now, all I have until August is March Madness. Sigh.

On a related note-
  • the Super Bowl commercials last night were the WORST EVER. What's up with that?
  • except the Clydesdale commercial- loved that one.
  • those little kids from Sandy Hook so precious?!
  • I've never heard the National Anthem drug out so long in my life. I hope I never do again.
  • Good job Ravens! They aren't my team but I was pulling for them.
Happy Monday, y'all! Get out there and make it a good one!

  1. Pam, I have a tiny purse just like yours - I can't stand carrying stuff around. I do have a "car bag" though - just a bag I keep in the console of my care "just in case," and it literally has everything on your list except an address book (including water in the trunk, LOL). Must be a mom thing :)

  2. Hmmm...we won a contest once where you had to have all the things on this long list of ridiculous items in your purse. I have to say it was mainly my purse that contributed...even sunglasses in the middle of winter. Hey! a girl can dream.

The Clydesdale commercial was the best! Those are my favorite horses...so beautiful. Sorry your favorite sport is gone for the season. But like hockey season here, it seems to come back - real quick!

  3. Oh boy did I laugh at the contents of your purse! yes, Pam, been there done that!
Mind you, today I wished I had a pack of wipes..one of the "kids" in school puked up her lunch, and whatever way she cleaned up, the stench was all over the place! including a corridor, where all she did was pass through!
Tape was a fix-it-all for me too, back in the day!

  4. LOL at the National Anthem! I heard it and it seemed like it took forever! I watched The Puppy Bowl instead of the Super Bowl. I never thought about the Cujo factor for snacks. That gives me something to think about!

  5. I was never that prepared. My youngest had a nosebleed on the way to school a couple of years ago and the best I could find to give him was a pink glove I found in the car!

  6. I also keep candy in my purse - it has been a life-saver again and again (not just for me... you cannot get a smily face more quickly than with some candy)! But I stopped carrying around books, too bad for the back! =)

  7. in an effort to keep my purse at an actual carrying size, I have packed a diaper bag that just stays in the van. it has the spare clothes, the first aid kit, the snacks, etc.
    is that cheating?

  8. I still have candy in my purse (for me). haha

  10. Jessica- A car bag would have been a great idea! Wish I had thought of it back then. I just lugged my ginormous purse everywhere!

Stephanie- Mine probably would have contributed as well. I told people they had to stop laughing at me when their kids came to me for something instead of them. LOL I hope the time will pass quickly…it’s just that the waiting months are so hot.

Mimi- Ew. I hate it when that happens. So far, no one has done it in the lab. And I hope they don’t. The lab is carpeted! If they ever do, I’ll have to leave until the odor is gone!

Mrs- It did take forever. It’s like she made it about her instead of the song, the country, etc. Most people don’t think of the Cujo factor- my mind is very weird. LOL

Diane- It’s just that I hated being ‘caught’ like that. Nowadays if that happened to someone, I wouldn’t even be able to find that pink glove. LOL

Cocalores- The candy was in mine. But that was for me. LOL

JP- I’m not sure I was even aware that there was a puppy bowl. How cute!

  11. The Sandy Hook chorus was a definite highlight for me. I do like Alicia Keys and I know the piano is her thing, but I prefer to see someone standing tall when they belt out the National Anthem. That was the other problem-she dragged rather than belted.

  12. DOTS! I use to play Dots! I will have to introduce Lil Duck to that. AWESOME!

  13. Rory- Absolutely not! As a matter of fact, it's a great idea!

Betty- Me too! ha! Well, they aren't MY team. They were just the team I was pulling for. LOL

Joyce- I think that was part of my problem with it too. Plus, it seemed she was making it about HER and not patriotism, etc. I don't know. I'm just picky when it comes to the National Anthem.

    Ducky- LOVE ME SOME DOTS!!!

  14. I loved the Clydesdale commercial, those horses are so beautiful. THe rest were mediocre at best, and some were right down stupid. I'm in the same boat, now there's nothing until next season, except for cycling. Thank goodness for the Tour de France...

  15. I can't imagine being down to just a wallet. I've always dragged around so much stuff. I can't even blame it on my kids.

And the Super Bowl commercials were extremely disappointing. I did like the Tide Montana Stain one, though. Ellen

  16. I cried during the Bud commercial. Don't judge... Is Vera Bradley that pretty Scotty dog brand? I need pain killers too. For myself. Noted!
