Hodgepodge on a Stick

We're still having flip-flop weather for a day or so and then winter weather the next few. I am amazed (and grateful) that I am not sick. Hopefully, I'll hold out and not get sick at all.

At least the Hodgepodge is always just the right amount of everything! Hop on over to Joyce's and join in the fun!

1. What is something you'll never forget about the age you are right now? That this was the beginning of my empty nest era.

2. What's a household chore you've never done? How have you managed that??? To be honest, I can't think of a single one I've NEVER done. Maybe I'll get an idea from reading what y'all had to say.

3. Does nature shape our personalities more than nurture? Explain? I've always been of the belief that both factor in almost equally. Yes, I can go into great detail regarding this belief but I won't do that to y'all here in this small space. And I have to go to work at some point. LOL

4. Friday (February 28th) is 'Something on a Stick Day'...funny because Zoanna over at A Penchant for Pens recently sent me an idea for a question relating to this topic. What's your favorite food eaten on a stick? I can't think of anything these days unless it's some sort of kabob. But I used to LOVE corn dogs when I was young. So tasty!

5. Which of your five senses do you treasure most, and why? I can't narrow that one down. I am equally appreciative of all my senses. Well, maybe a bit more of sight and sound.

6. What's the best music, theatre, or sporting venue you've been to? What made it great? Anything my kids were involved in was always the best whether is was theatre, soccer/basketball/softball, orchestra, chorus, dance---regardless, it was great because my kids were playing/performing. I've truly never enjoyed anything as much as I enjoyed watching them.

7. It's the last week of the month...in five words or less bid adieu to your February. Thanks for the snow days!

8.  Insert your own random thought here. There has been a bit of cyberbullying going on amongst the fifth graders at our school. I'm working on nipping it in the bud. I wish y'all could see their faces when they find out what I know. I don't mention any names but I do inform them of the new policies in place because of what I know.

In related news, I can't believe how little some parents understand about the world of technology. I'm way older than most of them and I always think, if I know, how is it that they don't? I guess I have to educate them as well as their kids. Good grief.

In totally unrelated news, it's only 12 weeks till the wedding! That means a few days off from school...I mean, that means Birdie will be getting married soon! :) Things seem to be going smoothly. I hope it's not the calm before the storm because we forgot something really important. With Bestie helping us out with the planning, that's unlikely. She pays great attention to detail. Thankfully!

Have a great rest of the week, y'all!

  1. That wedding is coming fast. I wonder too how it is that parents in this day and age don't know how to do all of the things on the tech world.
I am always at a loss when I meet people who don't even have a email account.
You know I can't think of a single thing I would eat today on a stick. :) Kind of sad, but because I used to love cotton candy and corn dogs. :)
    Have a lovely day.

  2. I'm amazed too. Maybe not so much in what some parents don't know about online shenanigans, but more in that they don' t tune in, ask questions, monitor their kids online. Especially if we're talking about elementary school aged kids. Yikes!

12 weeks. I'm exited : ) Can't wait to hear all about it and see pics!

  7. At the restaurant I work at, several of the servers in their 50s have never even been on a computer, let alone a smart phone. When I asked if they were on Instagram they had no idea what I was talking about!

Corn dog on a stick - best junk food evah!

  8. One would like to think that 12 weeks is quite a way off, but it's amazing once spring hits how quickly it time flies. I think it's a time warp. And I agree how parents are oblivious to what their kids know about technology and social media, etc. And also how little they know about their kids.

Thank you so much for taking the time to comment! It makes me feel connected to everyone even though we may live far apart! Have a wonderful day!
