May the Force be with the Hodgepodge

Getting back into the swing of the school week is so choppy after winter break. We went back for one full week and then only three days the following week and just back yesterday. Good grief. Now I'm just ready to stay home all the time.

It is nice to come home and participate in the Hodgepodge though! Want to find out how nice it is? Click the button and join in the fun! You can also read all about Joyce's daughter's lovely wedding on the blog too- and it's worth your time!

1. American Idol is back for a 14th season. Are you watching? Have you ever watched? If you were to audition for the show (or were made to audition), what song would you sing? I watched it when a friend of the lovelies was on once. But that was quite a while ago. I never got interested in it. I would never sing in front of anyone. I do not dislike anyone enough to do that to them. If I were MADE to do it? Hahahahaha People can't MAKE me do stuff. It's just not possible. Seriously. the people who know me are spitting coffee through their noses at the thought.

2.  Mark Twain is quoted as saying, "If it's your job to eat a frog, it's best to do it first thing in the morning. And if it's your job to eat two frogs, it's best to eat the biggest one first."

So when did you last have to 'eat a frog'? Or two? How'd that work out? Anytime I have to 'eat a frog', I always do it first and get it over with. Frogs of that sort come in the form of chores I hate. Which is inclusive of all chores. Unless I could use the force...then chores would be AWESOME and I would never have to eat a frog again!

3. If you were going on safari, what is the number one animal you'd want to see? Giraffes. No, elephants. No, antelope. NO, wait...I can't narrow this down. how about seeing all the animals who are being poached attacking the poachers???? Yes! That's IT!

4. January 21st is National Granola Bar Day. I know. Do you like granola bars? Chewy or crunchy? Your favorite flavor? How about regular granola? Let's exhaust this topic in honor of the holiday okay? Granola bars are something I'll eat in a pinch when I'm really craving something sweet and there's nothing else in the house with sugar or chocolate. The texture just depends on my mood of that particular moment. Though, if truly desperate for that sugar, it just doesn't matter.

5. If only I had made smarter life choices. Sigh.

6. You can add one item to your bedroom. What will it be? Keep it family friendly please. A sleigh bed. Queen sized. And I'd get rid of this king, pencil post. I've had it for YEARS and I'm ready for a change.

7. What is one thing you've enjoyed about winter thus far? If it's not winter in your corner of the globe, what season is it, and what is something you've enjoyed about whatever season it happens to be? The cooler temps! I am NOT a fan of hot weather so I do appreciate the coolness. I'm hoping for some actual cold days too. Not cold like in Minnesota or Wisconsin or crazy cold places like that. That's just too dang cold.

8.  Insert your own random thought here. Hey, y'all! Thanks to all who sent up prayers awhile back on behalf of my Dad. His tests came back free and clear. The cancer has not moved anywhere and is of no threat at this time. The doctor will keep closer tabs on it but, for now, we're feeling groovy!

As for football- I have renamed the Super Bowl, the Suck Bowl because I now have to pull for Seattle and I am NOT a Seattle fan. But I am really NOT a Patriots fan. Here's to another year when the only thing that interests me during the game will be the commercials. Unless it's a great game like the Seattle/Green Bay game was. Wow! Did y'all see that game?! Who am I kidding? If the Patriots win, I won't care how exciting the game is. I am really NOT a Patriots fan. Really. Not. I love my friends who are Patriots fans. But I am NOT a Patriots fan. At all.

Have a great rest of the week, y'all!

  1. Could you please make that a little clearer for us? You mean you are not a Patriots fan? LOLOLOLOL
So glad to hear about your dad. What a relief that is for you all.
Love the dog cartoon. And I notice you did add that you wouldn't like winter to be like Wisconsin or Minnesota. :-))
    Have a wonderful Wednesday, Pam!

    1. Not even a little bit. LOL Thanks, it IS such a relief. I'm never going to be ready to give him up. He's such a great guy. The lovelies always say that he is the best man they know. No, no cold winters like you have up there. I read your blog. I know things about winter up there. LOL Thanks!

  2. #8 - Praise God!! I am SO happy to read this news about your dad, Pam. "We" (because I like to see Joe happy) hate the Patriots, too, and dislike the Seahawks, so Joe says we aren't cheering for anyone to win. Not even sure the Superbowl will be on in our house. The commercials are out a few days before, on the internet....

Another great Hodgepodge, and I copied your stubborn frog image. Very cute. I agree!! :)

    1. We are so relieved about the news! Thank you! I know what you mean. I was thinking that I could see the commercials beforehand so, why bother? Isn't that a cute froggy? I fold my arms just like that. LOL

  3. #2 yeah I'm missing the point but I really do like good frog legs. Probably because I don't have the opportunity to eat them often.
Oh cmon, what if Tom Brady came to visit you after winning? I don't care which team wins. I just like a good game and funny commercials. BTW did you check out any of the Doritos ones in their contest? A few good ones made to the finals.

    1. Tom Brady is as thrilling to me as a root canal. If he comes by here, he's not coming inside. :) Have not seen the Doritos commercials. I'll have to check them out. Though not a Seattle fan either, I would LOVE to see the Patriots lose. LOL

  4. I don't watch the super bowl at all. Hate football...probably because I just really don't understand the game at all. However, I do like to watch the commercials the day after.

    1. They started airing those commercials early a couple of years ago. You can see them on some news shows and online. Football and hate do not belong in the same sentence. LOL

  5. Not a Patriot fan here either, so I guess I'll root for Seattle. Not really a Seattle fan, but now that I have a daughter living in that area I can maybe scrounge up some temporary loyalty : )

    1. I'll be pulling against the Patriots so I guess I'm mustering up that temporary loyalty too. How does she like it out there? Or is it too soon to tell? What's she going to be doing? I wish them all sorts of happiness!

  7. I'm so happy your dad got good news concerning his tests!
The commercials are my favorite part of the Super Bowl, it doesn't matter who's playing!

    1. Thank you! I am too. We were all getting a bit worried there but we are breathing again now. I enjoy the commercials too but, if a team I like is playing, it's all about the football! :)

  8. Soooo...don't like the Pats, huh? :) I'm not a fan AT ALL, either. I'm also with you on the cooler weather...it's winter; it's supposed to be cold. And snowy.

  9. I agree with you suck bowl. In fact other than the commercials I probably won't even bother.
    YEAH!!! for you daddy. YEAH!!!
Yep, I'd say our winters aren't the bestest but I hate the bugs so lets freeze them to death. Eat frog, I always thought it was eat a toad.
Take care Pam. Have a blessed rest of the week.

  10. Julie, I was so happy when he told me the news! We can all breathe again. I don't know the difference between frogs and toads. I dislike them both. LOL

  11. I said giraffe but I would love to see them all too! We have a sleigh bed and I like it a lot but I'm really loving some of the Mission Style furniture these days. I love the Super Bowl for the commercials and the snacks I make.

    1. How about sending some of those snacks this way? :) I've wanted a sleigh bed for years now. Maybe that will be the next big purchase I make. I've enjoyed and appreciated our emails lately. Thank you!

  12. Clip On Extensions are all the rage amongst celebrities and movie stars. If you have short or thin hair and want a natural looking finish, human hair pieces or synthetic hair pieces are worth the investment. The key to keeping the look natural is to blend it effectively. Hair extensions or pieces can also make your hair appear thicker and fuller. This article will provide you with some tips on how to undertake this successfully.
