No Mush, it's the Hodgepodge

It's sad to be glad one of my favorite months is going away. I'm only glad because January let me down this year. Whoever is holding my winter temperatures hostage, how much will it take to set them free? I enjoy and appreciate the cold months partly because I have to endure the long months of oppressive heat. The cold months are a welcome relief and they just aren't bringing the cold anymore. Summer is selfish and mean. She is going to be the death of me. Perhaps February and March will be kinder. Here's hoping!

Meanwhile, I shall continue to enjoy Baby M and the Wednesday Hodgepodge! Oh and, warning, there's an outrageous amount of cuteness overload in this week's Hodgepodge post. You have been warned. :)

1. Can you believe it's the end of January? Yes. The rest of the year flies by, why shouldn't January? And, how do we slow it down? What was the best day of January 2017 for you, and why?Any of the slight few days that wore winter temperatures because it's winter and it should be cold. Of course, what does it matter when you get to spend every day with this cutie?

2. What sounds make up the background noise in your life? Lots of loud nonsense. It's a good thing this little sweetie comes over every day and shares the sound of a delighted baby! Notice the sweet potato smile and the cutest little teeth ever--

3. I read on the Power of Positivity website a list of ten things to drop from your life right now. They are-

anger outbursts, people who put you down, regret, negative self talk, being a people pleaser, the notion you need to be perfect, the past (but keep the lessons learned!), gossip and judgment, comparing yourself to others, and the word hate (focus on what you love instead)

Which thing on the list do you most need to drop? One? Ok, yes, I suppose we should start small. I'll go with regret. Are you trying or will you try? Yes. But don't ask how it's going. Of course, I'm always positive around this one:

4. What is sacred to you? On a small, personal level it's my alone time. Which I do not get right now. But when I do, no one had better disturb it. I won't go into the larger picture. It's intense and it's being threatened right now. Oh and, her happiness.

5. January is National Oatmeal month. Are you a fan, and if so how do you like it? I've never been a fan even when I pile on sugar, butter, and milk. It's the texture. I just can't get past it.  This sweetie loves oatmeal, though.

6. What feelings does twilight stir up in you? A quiet, calm, peaceful feeling. This one is rarely quiet. Or calm. But that's ok.

7. Something you're looking forward to next month? Some winter weather! At least, that's what I'm hoping for next month. Since we didn't get more than a few days in January. And time with this one:

8. Insert your own random thought here. What? Y'all can't tell what's on my mind today? LOL Y'all, this little one. I hardly have the words. She is simply, my heart.

Have a great rest of the week, y'all!

  1. She is adorable and those blue eyes how they sparkle. We have had a mild winter...I have missed the snow and cold temps. It is winter and it is supposed to be cold not temps in the high 60s!

    1. Let me think...yep, I agree with you on all counts! LOL Thank you! We don't usually get snow but we did used to get cold and sometimes some sleet. These last couple of years have been springlike and I don't like it one bit.

  2. What a little darling! And she's so blessed to have a grandma who adores her! I sure wish I could have shared some of our January with you, or better yet, you could have shared some of your January with me! LOL Have a great week. Love the sweetie pics! xo

  4. She's just a doll! Do you think she looks like your daughter or her Daddy? My daughter is doing well and will be home for a visit in March so I'm excited to see a little baby bump. She is the tiniest thing so I feel like she might show early.

    1. When she was first born and for the first few months, I saw all four of my girls in her. Then it was mostly her mom. Now, she is the spitting image of her daddy when he was a baby. There are times though, when she looks like no one I know. That's when I know I'm seeing Marcy. :) I have a friend whose oldest daughter is a tiny little thing. She had her first baby in December and she showed early. I hope you get to see the bump! This is so exciting, isn't it? :)

  7. Your baby is so precious. I was also disappointed in the lack of winter weather here in Texas and am hoping some will show up in February. I will say the mild temps have made it much easier in dealing with my old dog.

    1. I'm hoping the same thing. I imagine they do help with older dogs though. And people. LOL Thanks, she's the best granddaughter ever!

  8. Your granddaughter is adorable and I'm so glad you get to spend time with her!

I hope you get your cold weather, and soon. I am a fan of cold weather, here in Colorado, unless it gets down to zero, and then that's just too much of a good thing!

I enjoyed your Hodgepodge today (and yes, the movie I suggested is very good but it is a tear-jerker!!!).

    1. Thank you! I'm having such fun! And my sleep habits are great since she is exhausting me on a daily basis. LOL I hope so, too. I agree with you- there is such a thing as TOO cold. :) A friend's son took a girl on their first date to see that movie. He told his mom it was a good thing the girl had tissue with her because the both cried and cried. They're in college and I think it's great that they chose that movie and that he's not afraid to cry in front of her. :)

  11. Pam, she IS adorable! What a sweet addition to your life! I do hope you'll get some more nice cold winter days. I'm not a fan of summer. The heat wrecks me. Would much rather be cold, I think.

    1. Thank you! She a little sweetheart for sure. :) I hope so, too. That's the very same way the heat does me. When I'm cold I can bundle up and get warm but when I'm hot well, there's just so much you can take off. LOL

  12. Hi Pam. I'm totally with you on that oatmeal stuff ! To me it has the texture of wallpaper paste. Ugh!! Marcy is just adorable, and I love how everything came back to HER! Grandchildren do that to a person! 😊 . I love 'me' time as well.

    1. Wallpaper paste is a perfect description! Yes, grandchildren do do that to a person. And it's lovely, isn't it? :) I never have 'me' time anymore. I need it. Badly.
