Wedding Fever and the Hodgepodge

Wednesdays are flying by, aren't they? I'm enjoying daily thunderstorms and some excellent books which I'll get to later in the post. Also, this little cutie is about to turn the ripe old age of 2!

That's her school picture and it just melts my heart every time I look at it. I love that kid. Can Y'all believe she's going to be 2 years old? Goodness.

Ok, it's on to the Hodgepodge!

From this Side of the Pond

1. What happens to the mail at your house? It gets brought inside and gone through. If it's junk mail it goes to the shredder if it's a bill or 20 they get paid. Of course, it gets more exciting if Tucker hears the mail truck because he goes NUTS about it and if the grandkiddos are here we sing this:

2. Something you always splurge on? Anything for the grandkiddos. Any guilt associated with the splurge? Only when I check the bank account. Ha!

3. There are many, but what are two important questions you think every bride and groom should ask/answer before they plan their walk down the aisle? How do you expect financial issues to be handled? Can you comfortably and honestly communicate about all issues that will come up?

4. What's the best advice your father ever gave you? There are three- always be open to communication, fix a problem before it becomes too big for you, look for the laughter in every situation.

5. Your favorite movie where a father features heavily in the storyline? FATHER OF THE BRIDE- all versions!

6. Insert your own random thought here. I'm reading one of the most fascinating books I've ever read, FERAL: REWILDING THE LAND, THE SEA, AND HUMAN LIFE by George Monbiot. Next on my summer list is, JUST MERCY A STORY OF JUSTICE AND REDEMPTION by Bryan Stevenson. These may very well turn out to be the best books I've ever read. Anyway...

Wedding plans are ahead of schedule so far. NashvilleDaughter has her dress, the venue, the invitations, save the dates, and engagement photos which Y'all can see HERE. Just a few more things to do before we start tweaking the details.

Have a great rest of the week, Y'all!

  2. That little one is a cutie! I have my own grandson running about. He will be 2 in December and these days are just going by too fast! Faster even than the days with my own kids, I think.

Excellent advice from your dad. Especially to keep laughing. If you can keep your sense of humor about things, it sure does help.

Good luck with the "tweaking." I was in those shoes last summer.

    1. The days really do go back quickly. Marcy will be 2 in a couple weeks and I just can't believe it. I agree about the laughing and I try to do it every day. Though it does get difficult sometimes. Thank you!

  6. Loved reading through your answers, especially your father's advice to fix a problem before it's too big to fix (wise, wise, wise.) What an adorable grandchild, too. Have you read BETTER OFF: Flipping The Switch on Technology by Eric Brende? Now, I know it sounds dry, but it's soooo not. M.I.T. grad who wanted to know if all that technology he dedicated his life to is actually NECESSARY in our modern world. Soooo, he moved in with a strict Menonite/Amish order for a year in KY, taking on their whole lifestyle. It's inspiring, hilarious, and you'll learn words you never knew existed (Brende is highly intellectual.) SUCH a great read. I appreciate your suggestions as well.
Have a great rest of your week, friend.
