Random Nonsense and Other Things

I am sitting here in total amazement right now because 1. the sky is DARK and b. I can hear THUNDER which means WE MIGHT BE GETTING SOME RAIN!  And we need it!  The humidity is so thick and heavy out there that something simply HAS GOT to give!  Our walk this morning was just as bad as yesterday as far as the humidity goes.  It was so heavy I felt as though I was carrying an extra 30 lbs around with me!

Our air conditioning stopped working yesterday afternoon.  That was bad.  Real bad.  Because the hotter I get, the worse my mood gets.  I am the most unpleasant person on the face of the earth when I'm really, really hot. I get mad when my shirt gets sweaty and touches me and then my hair starts sticking to my face and neck and that only gets me madder.  Then, I start looking for people to provoke.  Which is why I spend most of the summer INSIDE away from people.  Luckily, Hubs' BFF is an a/c guy and he came over to check it out.  It was a simple/quick fix and I am still grateful!  The thing I love most during the summer is my a/c!  Dodged a bullet there!

Doodlebug and company have arrived safely in West Virginia for the All Good Music Festival.  Those pictures should be very interesting...I should have some to post next week.  She came by for a few things she needed last night.  We went through a check-list of items they might need and she had it all.  We gave her hugs and kisses and she went back to finish her packing.  Suddenly, from out of nowhere (or maybe from 'mom land') I realized that she had not gotten her tickets!  She and Gibbsterrific had me hang on to their tickets for safekeeping and DoodleBug left the house without them!  Luckily, Birdie was coming over this way for Trivia so she picked them up and took them downtown!  Whew!  Yet another bullet dodged!

Please, please if you haven't already, go visit Carol at Facing 50 with Humour and give her a congratulatory hughighfivepatontheback for having her VERY FIRST BOOK PUBLISHED!  This is so exciting not only for Carol but for all of us who have come to know and love her and her sense of humor!  CONGRATULATIONS CAROL!

DoodleBug sent me an email with a link that some of you might be interested in.  Here's the email:

Hey Lady,

I'm pretty sure you said you were a livestrong member, which means you already got this link, but I thought I'd send it to you just in case;

It's a really good article about eating/living healthier and though there are a few misspellings and grammatical errors, it's pretty inspiring! Thought about your bloggy thing and thought you might want to share it with your weight-loss group for some supportive reads!

Love FOREVER,
squeebie

Hope it's nice and cool where you are.  If not, I hope you're sitting in front of an air conditioning vent or poolside!

  1. Good article. We had a problem with our air when we come home from vacation. We had to wait 2 day for the repair man to fix it! I know what you went through.

  2. Phew! Thank goodness you got the air conditioning fixed pretty quickly. It would be hard to live without it in that dreradful heat!! Yes indeed, a big high 5 and many congratulations to our friend Carol! It really is wonderful news, isn't it, and she must be so excited by it all. Lovely for us to be able to share in her good news.

  3. Oh, your a/c story reminded me of how my fire-breathing dragon came out after a perfect day in Hawaii. Coming back to the city from the beach was too much heat for me...not a pretty sight. Everybody duck...here come the flames!

Hope that you get that rain. Wish I could send you some of ours. It's supposed to stick around until Sunday. That would cool ya!

  4. I guess you don't want to hear that it is 75 degrees here with 44% humidity...deep blue sky with wispy clouds drifting in a cool breeze from the lake...I turned my AC off because it was 53 degrees last night and the house is still cool :-) Yes I know I better duck because you just threw a big vase at me :-)

  5. It's meant to be cold where I am, but in the middle of winter, we're experiencing daytime highs of 25 plus (Celsius here of course). I do hope you get plenty of rain!

Yes, Carol well deserves all the praise we can pile on her!

  6. I know exactly what you mean - I'm a prisoner of my environmental condition regulator - summer or winter. I have found a service company that doesn't charge extra for after hours calls and I've had to call them out late in the evening - twice. One time was on New Year's Day. They're wonderful.

I become completely unreasonable when I get hot - one of the reasons I got more organized 'cause I hate looking for things. When I look for things, I get hot. When I get hot, I get mad. It's not pretty.

  7. Susan- If I had to wait 2 days for the a/c to get fixed, someone would have been killed. And it would NOT have been me! LOL

Diane-I am so excited for Carol! It really is awesome that we get to share in her joy!

Stephanie- Our heat index was 124 yesterday but only 102 today...that ONLY came from the weather dude. And we got tons of thunder...very little rain. UGH.

Jeff- I went to your blog and blew raspberries at you. LOL

Desiree- Maybe I should move over there until summer is over! LOL

Betty- Wow, your weather really fluctuates in the winter! Ours does too but not that much!

Donna- I'm glad that I'm not alone in the heat reaction thing. I love that Hubs' BFF will come whenever we call him-such a lifesaver! Hot is not pretty on me either!

  8. We finally got a break today and went to the beach. The skies were overcast so it was cooler and the ocean breeze was heavenly. First time I'd been out in 3 days. We're just like you. Bruce feels nauseous when it's that hot. Glad your AC if fixed!

  9. I'm so glad you got AC fixed promptly. As you know when ours goes out I high tail it to Evelyn's.

I'm pea green with envy that you had a storm and we didn't. It rained for 2 whole minutes here last week.

Give Tucker a big squeeze for me.:)

  10. Sorry to hear about your heat problems, I do get that the humidity is a major pain. I don't have much it here in the desert. I'm sure Tucker is not liking it here, he probably wants to go on vacation....

  11. We don't have the humidity you have but I too am thankful for ac. I don't think we got it in our house growing up until I was about 9. I cant imagine how I slept! Even with ac on now there are nights I'm still too hot.

    Have a great weekend!
