HUMP DAY HOPS!

Ready to work your way into the Hodge Podge and do some Chattin' on the porch? Feel free to click on the links and join in the fun!

If you're here for Chats on the Farmhouse Porch only, then scroll down.

First up is WEDNESDAY HODGE PODGE from Joyce at From This Side of the Pond.  This meme is fun and sometimes even poses a challenge (read: she makes us use our noggins!).

1. What's the last job you did that required elbow grease?
I'm really having to put my elbows (and everything else) into garden prep right now. Whew.

2. March Madness, aka the men's Division I basketball championship, is nearing an end. What sort of 'madness' has your house seen this month?
The 'madness' around here has been all about March Madness! It's been a veritable college basketball fest around this place! My beloved Tar Heels are out- but I wasn't surprised by the Kansas game. Good new is, OHIO STATE is still in it!

3. What's your favorite shop for browsing?

That's probably a tie between Barnes & Noble, Bed Bath and Beyond and Lowes.

4. Is there ever a time when giving up makes sense?
Geez Joyce, don't hold back. Give us a mind boggler. LOL I don't know about this one. I suppose there are times when giving up makes sense. But, I am a 'hopeless hoper'. In other words, even though I might say I give up, I just never do. I can't. It goes against my nature. Oh, I wish I could give up. I bet it would make life much easier. I can't seem to give up on people, situations, knitting that dang sock that time...no matter what, whether it makes sense or not, I just cannot give up.

5. What's a song you love that contains the name of a city, state or country in its title? That's a LONG list- however, I pick this one. For obvious reasons!

AND, these are good ones too- feel free to get up and shag (SC state dance NOT the other meaning. Get your minds out of the gutter y'all. LOL)

6. When did you first begin using a computer?
When the lovelies were in elementary school. Well, the first one or two were. Hubs had been all about computers but I was slow to get on board. Then the computer teacher at the lovelies' elementary school taught me and VIOLA! I was hooked!

7. Did you buy girl scout cookies this year? What's your favorite?
Nope. We just don't eat very much processed stuff anymore. My favorite? Let's just say that I never had a girl scout cookie I didn't like!

8. Insert your own random thought here.

My day began with me getting to see DoodleBug- she asked me to bring something to her- and it just made the start of the day so happy! No matter how old our kids get, they continue to bring us joy, don't they? And isn't that wonderful?! Hope y'all had a great start to your day as well!
Next up is a HUMP DAY HOP from Patrice at Everyday Ruralty called Chats on the farmhouse porch! Sometimes we get to visit with Wendell the wonder horse too!

This Week's Questions:
  1. What was your favorite book as a child? Oh goodness, I read EVERYTHING as a child. My dad's mother was the librarian in our town and I spent so much time readingreadingreading! I loved everything I read but Harriet the Spy was the one that sticks out as being my absolute favorite. I read it time after time and even logged some childhood hours spying on some neighbors. That's a story for another post!
  2. Dark chocolate, Milk Chocolate, or White Chocolate? Yes please!
  3. What's your biggest "pet peeve" when it comes to your kitchen? Hubs going in there and moving stuff around. Don't freaking touch anything in my kitchen. Men. Sheesh.
  4. Do you use any type of water filter in your home? (Whole house, faucet mount, or pitcher) No. All those faucet filters do is remove the odors NOT the chemicals. I would love to have the big charcoal thingy on the outside of the house that does actually remove the chemicals. We buy spring water for now. We used to get spring water from Hubs' grandmother's natural spring but since she passed and her youngest daughter inherited everything...we don't get to get it anymore. But there is a website that tells which bottled water really is spring water AND there's one that tells where there are natural springs in your state. We have a couple here in SC and you can go and fill up jugs for FREE! We plan to start doing that soon.
  5. What's the herb you use the most in cooking? I have a French mixture and an Italian mixture of dried herbs that I used most of the time.

  1. Progress is made by people like you - who don't give up. Keep up the good work, Pam. :-) I wonder if I'll get a call from one of my girls this morning, asking me to bring something to them. I doubt it. Texas and Indiana are a long way from Wisconsin! And yes, our kids certainly do make life wonderful, don't they!

  8. I love that you have spring water. It would be so great to have that, but we just enjoy the water as if falls from the heavans. :) We do use a filter, to clean it a little. No chemicals added though.
When do we get pics of your garden? I bet you are doing veggies again?

  9. Betty- The garden is still being prepped. I did plant some flower seeds today but they stay inside for a few weeks yet. Hubs wants to get plants this weekend so we really need to get BUSY! Once it's all looking nice again, I take some pix! Oh, yes. We will be trying veggies again. Hopefully more than tomatoes and peppers will grow this season.

  13. It has been interesting seeing everyone's favorite places to browse. I bought a few cookies but I'm not eating them either. I was also able to buy and donate boxes to the military. So glad your day started out so perfect.

  15. I can see you spying on the neighbor. LOL I like my kitchen the way I keep it- everyone else beware! They had a water filter at an organic market that I visit each month. The water was so incredible tasting. I know nothing about the system, but I make sure and get a big glass each time I shop there.

  16. Loved your Hodepodge Wednesday. I never watched basketball much until this year, when my brothers have kind of gotten me interested in it.
