Hodger Podges

I know. My Wednesday post titles are goofy. I can't help it. It's the lack of cool weather.

Where the heck is AUTUMN people?! Tell me! Cause it's NOT here in the low-country of SC. But the Hodge Podge is here! And that almost makes up for fall not showing up yet! Just give a click to the button and join in the fun!

1. The Wednesday Hodgepodge this week falls on John Chapman's birth date.  He's more famously known as Johnny Appleseed...what's your favorite variety of apple? My absolute favorites are golden delicious! The lovelies tend towards Granny Smiths, although Deanie really likes Pink Ladies.

2.   When did you last say 'ick'? I rarely say 'ick' but I do say 'ew' and sometimes 'gross.' And I say those a lot. And, now that I'm back in an elementary school, there are a lot of those going on in my mind...you know like when a student picks his nose and then eats it? Yeah, like that. EW, GROSS.

3.   Do you think there's a generation gap?  Explain. I suppose there is one but I don't think it's near what it was, say, when I was growing up in the 70s. The gap then was tremendous. I think there's not as much of one now because parents are more in tune with their kids and way more involved in their kids lives these days.

4.  What's on your computer screen saver?  Do you leave it alone or change it often? Right now it's Tucker. Soon it'll be all the lovelies and Tucker for the 2012 Christmas picture. I change it about 3 or 4 times a year.

5.  If you had the attention of the entire world for two minutes, what would you say? Grow the hell up.

6.  Four fashion trends to try this fall are-brocade/jacquard (fancy printed fabrics), peplum, lace, and printed pants...which of these four would you be most likely to wear? None of it. I don't do fashion. I don't do colors and I don't do fancy anything.

7.  What can make your bad day better? A call from one or more of the lovelies, a doggie kiss from Tucker, music...it depends on why the day is bad. But one of those things will pretty much turn it around.

8.  Insert your own random thought here. Looks like fall is going to stay away during the day for a while longer. Our temps are back up in the mid to upper 80s. At least it's in the 60s in the morning at dark thirty when I have to go walk the dogs. By the time I roll out of school, it's hot again. So all y'all who are lucky enough to be having a true fall already, tell me all about it. I'll just have mine vicariously. Again.

It's Hump Day, y'all! Have a great rest of the week! I'll be visiting your Hodge Podges after school!

  1. Yesterday we came this close to turning on the heat so fall is creeping in. Today the temps are going to be a little warmer, but still pretty fall like and rainy too.

Music can almost always lift my mood. Or bring it low, sometimes music makes me a good kind of sad. I know that sounds nuts but I think you will get it.

    Have a great day!

  2. Sorry you haven´t gotten cool weather yet. Ours turned around again (50°F this morning). Loving the lingering winter air.

I agree with your answer to Nr. 3. The generation gap between my parents and me is MUCH greater, than it is to me and my daughters.

  3. Hope you get fall weather soon.

I'm so with you on #6 ... I live in jeans and Tshirts ... in fact, I wear jeans and a Tshirt to church (my nicest pair of jeans with a plain Tshirt with coordinating sweater to dress it up ... and because with the AC, I need a sweater). ;-)

  4. You have to one further north for cooler temps. We had to light a fire in the wood stove yesterday it was sooooo cold. Ias I've said before, we really should switch locations. I love the heat and sun!

  5. I echo the "I don't do fashion" line. Maybe we should get that printed on a t-shirt? Oh, wait, would that then be considered "fashion"? :)

  6. What is 'fashion'?? lol I'm so with you on that!

It's going to be 34 degrees here tonight, so I'll cover the plants again. That's only last a while longer until we get serious freeze. Wish I could pipe some of this cool, crisp autumn air down your way.

Enjoyed your Hodge Podge, as usual.

  7. I say gross or ew, too. It must be a southern thing :)

At least our mornings are cool, I'll take what I can get!

  8. We have turned on the furnace and I have an extra blanket at the end of my bed. I use D H doesn't. I am looking forward to your warmer weather so don't cool down too soon.

  9. I'm with you on the fashion. I wanted to answer I'll take jeans and a comfy sweater. And I understand the elementary school 'ick.' :)

  12. Joyce- Fall like AND rainy? Lucky you! And yes, I know exactly what you mean about the music! As a matter of fact, sometimes I look for just that kind of music because I need that kind of mood.

Betty- I just hope we get some fall AND winter this year. Last year was a bust. I’m just so tired of being hot when I go outside. And paying that dang electric bill. Same here with the gap.

Kathy- As soon as I can get back in a pair of jeans I’ll be wearing them everywhere every day! I hope we get that fall weather soon too. I’m sick of the heat.

Cindy- You’re right. W really do need to switch places. Though I really need the coast. Maybe the coast of Maine is where I should go. Then I’d probably complain about the cold. LOL

    MMS- Hahahahaha! You’re too funny!

Judy- I wish you could too. I sure could use some cooler air around here. But 34 might be just a bit too cold. LOL See, I’m never
satisfied. Fashion- I’ve just never been a slave to it. But I do have two daughters who are hip to the fashion scene. Oops- just dated myself. Ha!

Kathy- It must be! True- the mornings and the late evenings have been quite pleasurable. In fact, I think I’ll take the dogs out for an evening walk today!

retired- Don’t worry. It won’t really cool off down here until around the beginning of November. I just always hope for it to come earlier…like, now.

Susan- I knew there would be someone out there who would understand the ‘ick’ at school. Gotta love those little kids. LOL

LP- Oh no! Hope you get it back. And that we get some at all! Thanks! It’s the only thing I could think of that would cover just about everyone. LOL

Wayne- Short and sweet, right? No time since I’ve been up at school every day. But I’m slowly adjusting!

  13. Looking at it from the other side now, I think the generation gap shrinks as the older generation gets smarter. We don't stop learning anymore. :)

  14. Nani- That's an excellent point. And, in my case, I'm not near as judgmental as my parents were so my girls didn't have the need to hide things from me. Not that I know everything they did, but I knew way more than my parents did.

  15. Your the second pink lady apple today and I've never heard of them. I also say eww! I agree that the generation gap is not what it use to be but maybe that's because we are on the other end of it now :) I have a picture of my children on my screen but my screen save is bubbles. Skye jumped up and gave me a kiss the other day then belched in my face!!

  16. I love your advice to the world and it is good advice too! Now if we would just listen to it, LOL :)

We don't have fall weather here, but we rarely get it this time of year, in fact in Southern California we can get our hottest weather in September and October with our Santa Anas.

hope the day was a good one!

  17. I'll trade you SC is beautiful, want to come to PA. Our daytime temps are barely reaching the mid 50s and nights are getting down in the 40s. Most people here have even had to turn on their heat.

I'm with you on the fashion. I like what I like and it has to be comfortable.

While I love PA I miss NM, so my screen saver is a picture of a stucco home that comes with Windows.

and telling the world to "Grow the hell up" that made me laugh. I would love to say that a time or two or three some days.

  18. Hopefully you will get your fall weather soon.
I am happily enjoying a beautiful fall in Sedona.

I'm with you, I very rarely say ick, mostly gross or yuck.

I love fashion, I may not always be in fashion but I love to look at all the fashions :)
