Halloween Hodgey Podgey

It's time for a little Halloween Hodge Podge! You know what to do if you want to join in the fun!

1. What creeps you out? Lots of things- snakes, lizzards, dead leaves blowing on the road behind me at dark thirty when I'm walking the dog, men over 50 who gawk at 19 year old girls...

2. What's your least favorite candy? Apparently, all of it. I used to LOVE candy. Just about any kind at all! But last week I decided to have a piece of Halloween candy I have for the kids and IT WAS NASTY! I've been eating organic for so long now, that regular candy tastes disgusting to me. But, HEY! This is a good thing! Before, when I ate so much candy that I got to be over 100 pounds overweight, my least favorite was-----licorice. Yuck.

3. Are you a fan of scary movies?  What's the scariest movie you've ever seen? That's a big ol HELL to the N.O. Although, I do enjoy the old black and white scary ones. Those are so much better than the ones in color. But the one that gave me the most nightmares after seeing it? Deliverance. Holy Crap that movie creeped me out.

4. What part of life confuses you the most? The part where some people, knowing how short life is, continue to be rude, arrogant and mean.

5. Pumpkin, sunflower, sesame, poppy...what's your favorite seed? Probably sunflower. But pumpkin seeds are delish too!

6. Imagine your life ten years from today...what's changed? There's way more gray hair to cover. And I have grandchildren!!! LOL

7.  What do you a) love the most and b) like the least about the Hodgepodge? a) I love trying to come up with responses to the thought-provoking questions that make me seem smart. (haha)  b) The thing I like least is that I never seem to have time to read everyone's responses.

8.  Insert your own random thought here. I've been thinking of everyone in the path of Sandy but I haven't been able to check in because my computer is sick. It's on the road to recovery but not well just yet. Birdie gave me a loaner for now---isn't she sweet! ANYWAY, I hope everyone stayed safe from harm and damage was minimal at the most! We lived through Hurricane Hugo (1989) so I know how much one of those bad boys SUCKS.

It's so good to be back! I've missed you all terribly!

  1. I absolutely love number 4! totally with you on that!
I too have been trying to check on my (bloggy) friends and hoping they're ok. A hurricane must be a very scary thing to live through; we don't get them here, and it makes the (frequent) rain seem not so bad at all.
    Happy Hallowe'en!

  2. And we´ve missed you!!

LOL, we have the same answer to Nr. 6 and 7.

Great answer to Nr. 4 too!

  3. I love your answer to #7.

So glad that you're back online. ;-)

  4. I never though about Deliverance as in being a scary movie but I guess it was.

  5. Yeah, the only scary movies I'll watch these days are the B&W ones. Somehow they're just not so scary because they're not in living bloody color! (and that wasn't meant to be a swear word. LOL)

  6. #1 Scorpions creep me out to the tenth degree. Show me one and I will do anything to avoid it. I would give you my first born if you would just smash the darned thing.
#2 Least favorite candy is the mushy, terrible, fluffy, awful Easter Tweets, or rabbits or whatever shape they come in...yuck!
#3 I enjoy the thrill of unseen horrors, the hint of something just around the corner, the thought of what MAY be there is much scarier than what is. When Fred Kruger hit the block, I stopped watching Gore movies. Scare me with ideas, please, not blood and guts.
#4 The Part of life that confuses me the most is where in the world all those missing socks go. I have a basket full of odd socks. You would think the other one would show up sooner or later.
#5 I don't eat many seeds, I plant them so I guess I would have to choose Poppy and sesame since they come on bread.
#6 Ten years from today I shall be wiser, grayer, stiffer and hopefully more humourous.
#7 I have no answer for either. This was my cherry and I enjoyed it all.
#8 Random thoughts! Dear one, all my thoughts are random or like that shiny ball in an old pinball machine...my mind bounces whatever direction the flipper forces me to go.

    This was fun!!!

  7. I don't usually do HodgePodge but I do like to read everyone's responses of blogs I follow. This one is particularly interesting to see answers to #6 as well as #4. I agree with you about life being so short; you think we would all want to get along with each other and not be mean/rude/arrogant since our days are so short.

glad to see that you got a loaner computer!!

    betty

  8. Thank goodness for daughters who loan mothers computers :)

More gray hair to cover...I forgot about that one! I think I'll give up trying by then :)

  9. Ya....like some old geezer of 50+ even attracts an 18 yr. old girl. Guy for that matter!!! Well, maybe if their billionaires with one foot on a banana peel.

hope your sick baby is on the mend soon.

  10. Actually on the news today one of the roliing stones is getting married for the 4th time to a woman half his age. What is wrong with these girls? Is it love or money?

  11. #6 is totally true for me too. Way too much gray hair, but one way or another, it WILL be covered! : )

  12. Yeah...in 10 more years, I'll probably be as white-headed as can be! Hoping for grandkids, too! Oh, the fun I'm going to have one day!

  13. I love your answers. I don't eat candy anymore either and I did try my old favorite Peanut M and Ms the other day and I have lost my taste. I don't know if I feel relieved or not.
I have never seen Deliverance but I know it sure scared the heck out of my brothers and Dad, I need to watch it someday.
So glad you guys were fine. I hope you get your computer back soon but I am glad you have one to use. Have a very nice day

  14. The "bad" neighbors we had in VA when we lived in the Hollow were relatives of those folks in Deliverance (and I don't mean the actors!!!)...:)JP

  15. I remember when I saw Night of the Living Dead at the theater and what really got me was it was scarier than color movies and the blood was more believable, even knowing they used chocolate syrup.

  16. Mimi- They can be scary and exciting. When Hugo came through here in '89, the destruction was unbelievable. The effects were felt all the way from our coast up through Pennsylvania and beyond. But regardless of their strength, they all can pack a powerful punch. If I never have to experience another one again in my life, I'll be a happy camper!

Betty- Of course we do...great minds and all that. LOL I think about you when I walk Tuck every morning with my cape and gloves---and wonder how hot it is in your neck of the woods. When's the wedding?

Kathy- Thanks! I'm glad to be back! I felt like I had lost touch with my dearest friends. Wait--- I had!

MKM- I wouldn't have either except that it scared the crap out of me! I had nightmares for months!

Judy- Hahahaha! Yeah, me too. I prefer the black and whites because they leave something to your imagination---and, with my imagination, that's all I need. LOL

Gail- You mean those gross Peeps? Those marshmallowy disgusting things? Yeah, hate those. :) I stopped having missing socks when the husband started folding his together when he takes them off. I unfold them to wash them and there's always two when they come out of the dryer. LOL LOVE your answer to #3- I know that you can write that kind of stuff really well! And I'm still waiting on my autographed copy of your first book. And the second. And the third...

betty- Right?! I just don't get all these crazy folks out there. I'm glad to be back in the world of the blogs! I've missed y'all so much!

Kathy- Amen to that! I don't know if I'll ever give up coloring the gray----my grandmother never did and she lived to be 90!

Anni- I know but that never stops them from ogling. And it disgusts me when I have to witness it. Too funny about the money and the banana peel! And true. LOL

retired- I'll give you three guesses and the first two don't count. LOL

Jill- I hear ya! Me too! LOL

April- I kind of like to keep my thoughts in the now. Since I'm closer to old age and all...LOL

Kim!!!! I have MISSED YOU! I've got to get an email off to you soon! Hope all is well over your way...are you making any plans to move to this coast yet? :)

  17. Oh, you make me laugh! :D
I do enjoy some licorice, though.

  18. I hope your computer gets well soon!!

Love your answers and the "men over 50 who gawk at 19 year old girls" as creeping you out,had me cracking up, it is so creepy and yet, the age difference continues to get even creepier over time. There are 80 year olds with 20 year olds, Yikes!!!That should be criminal.

    ReplyDelete
  19. If 50 years old gawking at 19 yrs old creep you out, stay away from Aspen. That's where 70 years olds marry 20 year olds and no one seems surprised. EWWWWWWW.....

    Happy Halloween kiddo.

  20. JP- NO!!!! I can't believe that! I would have been completely freaked out the entire time!

Nani- I think you just ruined chocolate syrup for me. LOL I saw that too and it was definitely scary!

Life- I'm glad you got a laugh! I've tried so many times to like licorice but I just don't. My aunt LOVES it though. I think she's the reason I wished I liked it!

Lucy- Thanks, me too! I don't know what gets into people. I just think they're dirty old men. LOL

Michele- It's crazy AND creepy! How's everything going? Is the website up yet? Are you tired of me asking you about it? LOL

  21. I did I miss your post on Wednesday! I think I'm the only licorice lover out in Wednesday Hodgepodge world. Hope your computer is up and running soon.
    Have a nice weekend.

  22. Hoping your computer woes are resolved-that's a pain! Still a mess in the great northeast and sadly snow is in our forecast. Definitely don't need that right now! There are still people without power, heat and a roof over their heads. We're on day 8 of no school here which is a whole 'nother issue. And gas. Gas has become like gold-hard to find and nearly impossible to get.

Thanks for always playing along on Wednesdays. I look forward to your answers!
