Lovin' the Hodgepodge

NO SCHOOL today! YES! .  NoSchoolNoSchoolNoSchool, HEY! NoSchoolNoSchoolNoSchool, HEY! NoSchoolNoSchoolNoSchool, HEY! Can y'all tell I'm too excited about not having to go in to school today?

That also means there's loads of time to read everyone's Hodgepodge answers!

1.What makes love last? I can't speak for everyone, but I would just like to know that I am number one. I think that would be a very good way to make love last. Hard to say though. I'll just wait and see what everyone else has to say on this one.

2. The Beatles made their US debut fifty years ago this week. Are you a fan? If so, what's your favorite Beatles tune? I am a fan though not a lose my mind over them kind of fan. I was not even in elementary school when they hit the states but my older cousins listened to them and that's how I became a fan. I was more of a Motown gal. Birdie is an avid Beatles fan. AVID. I can't even tell y'all how much she loves them. I don't have a favorite but I have about 10 that are all tied for first place. LOL

3. Valentine's Day-your thoughts? Do you celebrate in any way? Do anything special for the people you love? Expect anything special from the people who love you? I don't expect anything from anyone and that's just what I get. :) I don't celebrate it. I did make something for a friend and the lovelies but that's all I'll do. When the lovelies were growing up I went all out for them but I did that for every holiday.

4. Steak or burger...you have to choose. Now that that's settled, how do you like it? Burger if it's veggie or, on occasion, turkey. When I used to eat steak I took it WELL done.

5. The Hodgepodge lands on the birthdate (February 12th) of Abraham Lincoln, 16th President of the United States of America. Lincoln is quoted as saying,'Nearly all men can stand adversity, but if you want to test his character give him power.'  Do you agree? Why or why not? Ha! Amen to that. It's obvious, throughout history, that once someone comes into power, they become corrupt. I'm sure there's one or two out there who have remained people of integrity. But I don't know them.

6. Honest Abe's image is featured on the US penny (1 cent coin) so I'm wondering...what do you do with your pennies (or your country's equivalent)?  It's been suggested the US stop making the penny, and two bills have been introduced proposing just that, but neither were approved. What say you? I put them in a jar whenever I have them. With debit cards, who really has pennies anymore? As to the bill...I can't say that I care one way or the other.

7.  Do you think pop culture deserves serious study? Maybe. I know I'd be interested in knowing why people think some of the music and television programs are entertaining instead of what I think they are---degrading and stupid. Are we really becoming that lazy minded and busy that we have no desire to demand better? Are we becoming that shallow?

8. Insert your own random thought here. Monday, I wore 'springy' clothes and flip flops to school. Yesterday, the high was 37 degrees. Today we're having freezing rain.  Congratulations, Mother Nature. My throat is scratchy and I feel icky. Come on now! Let's let winter be winter. Sheesh.

Don't misunderstand- I am LOVING this winter weather. I just want the spring type to stay the heck away until, oh....spring.

To those of you getting the MAJOR icing from this storm- stay safe!

  5. You're not just a little excited about having a snow day, are you? :D After tomorrow, we'll be OUT of our 13 snow days; hopefully we'll be done with the winter weather. Not holding my breath, though!
    Have a wonderful day off!

  7. I once asked a friend if she could name any President who hadn't been corrupted by power. Her answer was George Washington. Sad thought, isn't it.

    Enjoy your day off school!!♥♥

  8. I loved your answers. I wasn't a big Beatles fan but my kids are too.
I hope you feel better but I am glad you have a snow day.

  9. Hey, it's going to be 80 degrees here if you want to come out and break out those flip flops again! :-) Have a fun day off of school!

  10. tammy- Only day 3 here. Which is one reason I can just enjoy it.

Anni- Thanks! And you're welcome. :)

Mary- Picked up on my excitement, did you? LOL It's only day three for us- two a couple of weeks ago and one this week. Usually we don't get days off due to winter weather but we have gotten hurricane days in the past. Those are no fun at all.

    Kathy- YES! :)

Judy- It is sad. Truly. I am having a great day! Just my little Tucker and me. Perfect!

Kim- Yep. Our weather has gone insane. We had 11 teachers out sick on Monday. It's wild!

Sally- I appreciate it but I prefer winter. I'm loving this! It's cold and icy and no school---just perfect. Of course, if our weather was like what others are having, I might change my tune. LOL Thanks!

  11. Pam...it's snowing and mainly sleeting here right now like crazy! We lost power for about 20 mins. or so...they say more winter "stuff" is coming this evening. I've had enough...more than ready for spring's arrival! Stay warm and safe, too!

  12. It's getting a little warmer here and is sunny today, thank goodness. They are calling for temperatures in the 50's next week. That will be a heat wave for us. :)

  13. I look forward to the Wednesday Hodgepodge and everyone's answers. I agree with you on the pop culture answer. What is wrong with people?!!

  15. We're bracing for another big snow tonite into tomorrow. Some winters are like this one, and we've had two in a row that weren't too bad, so I guess we're due. I still am enjoying the snow, but could definitely do without the ice! Enjoy your snow day!

  16. So you're saying you wanted to go to school today?

  17. April- We just don't get enough to get tired of it. I guess that's a good thing. We're going to freeze tonight and it's been raining all day so no school tomorrow either. It's so nice being home with Tucker! :)

Cathy- We have another 'snow' day tomorrow although ours is an 'ice' day. We'll be back in the 50s and 60s after that. I've enjoyed the cold and being home with Tuck!

Terri- I do too! I don't know what's wrong with them but something is. LOL

Debby- It has never happened here. And I'm about over it. It really is crazy weather.

Joyce- We've got more coming tonight and tomorrow too. And another 'snow' day. I agree- ice is scary. And that's what we've got. Again. Thanks!

    Cathy- Right. LOL

  18. I like turkey or chicken burgers much more than beef!!

I TOTALLY agree with your questions about Pop culture! I can’t believe anyone would make a point of being home to watch a TV show, let alone a reality TV show. It’s a sad statement when there is more talk about the relationships of people on a TV show than actual people you interact with!

Thank you so much for taking the time to comment! It makes me feel connected to everyone even though we may live far apart! Have a wonderful day!
