Merry, Happy Hodgepodge

The only way I know Christmas is close is because I looked at the calendar. I certainly cannot tell by the weather. It's been in the upper 70s here and I HATE IT! It's December. We're supposed to be cold. UGH. I hope y'all are getting some wonderful Christmas-like weather where you are.

Enough complaining. Now, it's time for the Hodgepodge!

1. What's your biggest 'first world' problem? Living with the nastiest people on earth? Not having a car of my own to drive? My phone is running too slowly?

2.  Each year Time Magazine names a 'Person of the Year', someone who has 'for better or worse...done the most to influence the events of the year.' It was recently announced they've named Angela Merkel Person of the Year for 2015. You can read more about this year's selection here. Your thoughts? Meh. If you were in charge, who would you declare Person of the Year? If you were in charge, who would you declare Person of the Year? I still hold that the Person of the Year should be some regular Joe who makes a positive difference in the lives of those with whom he/she comes into contact. Someone who doesn't spread fear and hatred. Someone who lends a helping hand to any and all in need regardless of their race, gender, etc. Someone who changes the world for the better one kind act motivated by selflessness at a time.

3. Do you have a nativity set in your home? If so share it's history and how you display the pieces. I had over 30 of those things until I started selling them off on eBay last year. I'm really into the whole concept of purging the house and those are the very kinds of things that are going first. I have so many because my mother has given me a new one every year for the last 30 years and there were some I already owned before that started. We had one when I was growing up and I loved it. I would move the figures around every day. I guess that's why Mother gave them to me. But, seriously, enough is enough. Or, in my case, too much.

4.  Do you make an extra effort to give back in some way during the holiday season? No. How do you encourage those who need encouragement this time of year? It's kind of like the showing one's love on Valentine's Day. Aren't these the types of things we should be doing throughout the year?

5. Who is your favorite person to shop for? That changes from year to year. Why? Some years it seems that the gift gods are catering more towards one specific person than others. This year, it was..hahahaha! I am NOT telling! Y'all will have to wait until Christmas.

6. What's the last delicious thing you ate? I honestly don't think I've eaten anything delicious in quite some time. Dieting does that, you know?

7. The best way to spread Christmas cheer is singing loud for all to hear!

8. Insert your own random thought here. Only two more days. The kiddos at school are wide open to say the least. It is time for a break.

Since we won't be here next week...

Have a great rest of the week, y'all!

  1. Yes, yes, yes to your number 4. I totally agree and that is what we try to do here.

And the weather here is also too warm for this time of year, even for north Texas. The last two years we actually had snow and ice storms during December.

Merry Christmas. Love your sparkling Merry Christmas pic.

  3. I know, after decorating this year I realize it is time to do a big purge. I did some after last Christmas but I still have too many things. Enjoy your Christmas away from home. Blessing to you and your family.

    1. I agree! Mother Nature hates me. It's supposed to be cold and I'm finally sick. So, thanks to the hot weather, I get to spend the holidays sick. UGH. I can hardly wait to be done with school for two weeks! Tomorrow at 3:00, I'll be doing the happy dance. Sick and all. LOL
