Homey Hodgepodge

It's the first Wednesday of the last quarter of school! Only EIGHT more to go! That is cause for celebration. But, I'm going to wait until it's the NINTH Wednesday of the last quarter. Because that will really be a cause for opening a bottle of something. Anything.

Meanwhile, let's all have a bit of fun with the Hodgepodge!

1. What does retirement mean to you? Less regimented days. Are you planning for it, not thinking about it, looking forward to it, or dreading it? I'm not actually going to retire. When you stay at home and raise four daughters for over 20 years and then go to work, you don't really retire. You just stop working. So you can stay home and take care of your very first grandchild. :)And THAT, I am looking forward to immensely.

2. It's International Guitar Month...do you play? Haha! No. Does anyone in your family play? Yes, three of them play. What's a song you especially like to hear played on the guitar or a favorite song featuring the guitar? There is no way that I can narrow that down to one or a favorite.

3. What's your comfort food? Food. All of it.

4. What's one activity or area of your life where you absolutely never procrastinate? School. And Netflix binges.

5. Who does the grocery shopping in your house? I do. Does your local store bag the groceries for you or is it a do-it-yourself kind of place? It depends. They have people at two of the stores and the cashiers do it at another. Usually, I do it myself so they don't have to. Do you like someone packing your groceries? Not really. I prefer to do it myself.

6. What's the coolest thing you've seen in nature? The list is long but, right now, there is an eagle's nest in a tall pine tree close to my house and there are babies in there. It's so freaking cool!

7. Share a favorite quote about home. My favorite is the one on cards two of my girls sent me once. Even better were the sweet words inside.

8. Insert your own random thought here. There are only eight more Mondays until school is out. And eight more Tuesdays. And eight more Wednesdays. I think y'all see where this is going. We're in the last quarter of school and I am so happy! I have so many plans! Don't worry, they aren't written in blood. I know all about best-laid plans. Stay tuned. I'll keep y'all posted!

Oh, before I forget, if you haven't been watching SCANDAL, don't start. I mean it. I started watching season one on Netflix last weekend and I can not stop. I'm in deep. Run away from it if you haven't started. You've been warned.

Have a great rest of the week, y'all!

  1. I've never watched Scandal. Thanks for the warning of how addicting it is. I already don't have enough hours in my days. :)

    1. I know what you mean. I come home from school and allow myself a few episodes. At least on Netflix, it's less time. But so worth it. LOL

  2. I've been watching the Eagle babies up north online and it is amazing! Someone who lives near us on the lake posted a pic of an Eagle in a tree on their property the other day, so I'm hoping we see some out there too. How fun to be promoted to Grandma! Enjoy your new gig : )

    1. They are so awesome! Tucker and I walk down there every evening and I finally remembered to take my camera last night. Haven't had time to look at the pix yet though because, SCANDAL. LOL Hope you get to see some at the lake! Thanks!

  3. Netflix - they and the other media streaming are really changing the way we watch movies and shows. I've watched a little on Netflix but our boomerang daughter really gets into it. I do think all the gouging and crapping content of cable TV should be turned upside down. We dropped (cut the cord?) on cable TV more than a year ago. Still need the internet part though.
I like the questions today - might just do a post, but you know that #4 question - it just might keep me from it.

    1. We don't have the cable channels anymore either. I watch a little bit of local and then I binge watch on Netflix. LOL Hahaha! You are so funny. I'm convinced you're related to my BFF. He has humor just like yours.

  4. So close to being done! We go until June 3. UGH! I bet that is so cool to have that eagles nest, with babies, so close! My mom used to watch an online video of eagle babies. She loved it!

    1. That's our end date too. I'm so ready. It's exhausting staying ahead of kids on the technology front. I love the eagles too! This is the first time I've noticed them so close.

  5. School's out when!
Not until July in the UK.
Teachers still have quite a few more 'get up' mornings ... best to enjoy the holiday breaks when you can!

    All the best Jan
