Bare-footing Through the Hodgepodge

Wednesday after Wednesday comes and goes in a flash. No matter how hard I try to slow down, the time passes quickly. Do y'all realize that Baby M will have her first birthday this summer? Wasn't she just born? I remember how I used my girls for the passing of time until I became a grandmother. Now, time is measured in granddaughter years. I always knew my grandparents loved me but I never realized how much until Baby M showed up. Tremendous love, y'all. Tremendous.

It seems Joyce has us thinking this week. This issue of the Hodgepodge took me all day long. I can't wait to read what y'all had to say! Dig in!

From this Side of the Pond

1. April is Lawn and Garden Month. On a scale of 1-10 what's the current state of your lawn and/or garden. (10=a showpiece, 1=send in the professionals). Tell us about any lawn or garden plans you have for this month. Ha! That would be a big old 1. Plans? Riiight. Those are all in my head where they will, most likely, stay.

2. "Many things grow in the garden that were never sown there."~Thomas Fuller  What does this quote mean to you? Seeds are dropped into our gardens (lives?) from many different sources and many different places. This is what grows us as human beings with the potential to be so much more understanding, tolerant, loving, compassionate people. Though it seems some are getting weeds in their gardens. That's the short answer. The long answer would require too much time and brain power. Waxing philosophical always gives me a headache.

3. What's the first thing that comes to mind when you think about God? Hope.

4. If we were chatting in person, how would I know if you were nervous? I wouldn't talk much. I know, most people get chatty when they're nervous. I get quiet.

5. Do you like the color yellow? Yes but mostly because it's Lovely #2's favorite color. Would I find any in your home or wardrobe? Not really. Daffodils, tulips, roses, sunflowers, day lily, black eyed susan...which yellow bloom on this list is your favorite? Sunflowers and yellow roses.

6. Flip flops or bare feet? Bare feet!

7. Tell us about any Easter plans, celebrations, or traditions you'll carry out this month. Nothing here. We used to celebrate and have the big egg hunt and traditional dinner following the church service but not so much anymore. I suppose I'll have to get that all started again since Baby M is on the scene.

8.  Insert your own random thought here. Two of the lovelies and their SOs are officially moved into their new homes! Do y'all remember your first home? I do, I'm still living in it. Ha! But I remember that excitement of having my very own home and I'm thrilled to know 2 of my girls are experiencing that feeling. I have news that I'm not allowed to share yet because someone is a total slacker when it comes to...everything. But I'll take guesses in the comments. :)

Have a great rest of the week, y'all!

  1. My daughter #1 and her hubby are starting the house process for the first time right now. They had a first meeting with a realtor this past Saturday and are now working on getting pre-approved. I told her we would not say anything unless asked. Because, yes, this is a fun, exciting time - and they will learn a lot - and I don't want to confuse them, or have them divided by my opinion. Well, unless they find a place in the ghetto! Then I might have to say something! ha

    1. I stayed out of it, too. I did always asked, when they looked at the houses, is it in a safe area and I told them I could ask that because I'm still the mom and I want them to be safe. They never even considered houses in unsafe areas. :) I really wanted safety to be in the forefront of their process. Otherwise, they did their own thing. Reni and Evan bought a house (SO CUTE) but it only has 1 bathroom and their realtor gave them advice that was not the best but I just kept my mouth shut. Afterwards, she told me she wanted small and just one bathroom because she hates cleaning them and has too many other things going on to worry about cleaning two bathrooms. I told her to talk to me when they all come down with the stomach bug at the same time. She cracked up. LOL They do have 3 bedrooms though so plenty of space. Claudia and Ben found one in a safe area with 2 bathrooms but only 2 bedrooms. I'm just happy everyone will be living in nice, safe neighborhoods. I know things can happen anywhere, but I also think there are ways to lessen the possibility. Good luck to your daughter and SIL! I hope things go smoothly for them!

  2. Well, I think that someone is going to have a baby. Just the way you're wording your secret leads us to wonder all sorts of things, right? Hmmm. I'm with you on waxing philosophical, especially when it's almost 10 PM and I haven't yet written the Hodgepodge post! :-) Have a wonderful rest of the week, Pam.

    1. Yes, someone is. And, hold onto your hat, it's a boy. What in the world does one do with a boy???? No, it's not Baby M's parents. Hopefully this child of mine will get on the stick and finish telling family so I can be more outspoken about it. Due date is August 16. Maybe she'll tell them on the way to the hospital. Ha! Have a wonderful Wednesday!

  4. Yes, someone will definitely need to revive your Easter traditions for the grandchildren...
I'm guessing there may be another on the way???
So happy for the new home owners :)
Have a happy and blessed Easter,

    1. There is another one on the way! Baby M is getting a cousin and it's a boy. And we have no idea what to do with it. LOL I know it's going to have to be me who brings Easter back but I'll wait until next year. She's so little now and there are things I want to do that take time. Time is one thing I do not have right now. Thank you, Kathy!

  5. Another baby on the way! And a boy! When you're mom to girls the notion of a baby boy takes some getting used to. I felt like someone needed to provide me with a manual-ha! But! Now I am so on board, and I notice little boys when we're out and about, and cannot wait to meet our little man. Congratulations to all!

    1. I can't wrap my head around it yet. I honestly have no idea about such things. LOL I'm sure we'll be fine. We do have some amazing young men in our family now so, between his daddy and uncles, his auntie and grandma might not mess him up too badly. Ha! I know y'all will have the most fun! I cannot wait to hear what you have to say about being a grandmother. :)

  6. Hope is a great answer when thinking about God. Our Easter is up in the air. I do remember our first home, I loved it.

    1. And that's why I never lose hope. I mean, I come close, but I don't lose it. :) The first home thing is great, isn't it? Where was your first home? We're still in ours. LOL

  9. I was going to guess baby, and would have been right! A boy?!!! No sharing clothes with BabyM....all new stuff! Cousins close in age are great. My cousin, Tom, was like my big brother when we were growing up. I'm happy and excited for all of you!

    1. We are excited about the cousins being close in age but a boy???? What do we do with it? LOL Baby M has tons of gender non-specific clothing she's willing to share with Baby R. But he's out of luck with the ruffly stuff. LOL

  10. Waxing philosophical - headache? Oh come on now that's something interesting and possibly enlightening. So many great phrases come from this type thinking. Here's one - If you can't beat 'em, tweet 'em. I believe that philosophy is being applied today.
We are still living in our first house. I think an apartment/townhouse can be a home so I said house.

    1. Anything requiring deep thought gives me a headache. So, that's philosophizing and math. LOL I believe you're right about the tweeting. We're still living in our first one but I say home because it's the only one we owned and the only one that ever felt like home. :)
