Linus, an Oompa Loompa, Willy Wonka and the Hodgepodge

What the heck happened to October? I waited and waited on fall but it never came. We're sort of getting the cooler temps but the evil 80s keep rearing their heads. Perhaps November will be kinder to us. Here's hoping.

Y'all know what's always kind? The Hodgepodge. Well, our lovely host, Joyce is. That's one reason we all look forward to Wednesdays!

From this Side of the Pond

1. What does/did Halloween look like at your house this year? It looks like any other time of year. Did you decorate? I did not. There was no time. Pick pumpkins? Nope. Carve pumpkins? Nope. Expect trick or treaters? Yes. Wear a costume to a party or event? Nope. Make a costume? Nope. Feel glad you didn't have to come up with a costume? Nah.  Cook a Halloween themed treat? Nope. Eat all the leftover candy? We'll see about that. Seriously, there was no time this year because I was so busy creating for CoasterDoodles. However, I am quite aware this must change by next year as the littles will be old enough to appreciate the decorations.

2. What are you waiting for? I would like to think I'm not waiting for anything. I shouldn't be waiting for anything. But I am. Elaborate. Fall weather to come and stay. Snow this winter. Santa. The right time. The usual things.

3. Do you wish you were friendlier, braver, more creative, more athletic, or something else? Yes to all. Explain. I'm always thinking I could be better. At everything. Why in the world are we not happier with ourselves the way we are. If I think about it a little more, I probably am happier with myself than I realize. I could wax philosophical here, but I'll spare Y'all. You are quite welcome. Ha!

4. When it comes time to paint are you a do-it-yourselfer or do you hire someone? DIY-er, here. What was the last paint job completed at your house? The grandchildren's nursery. What room most needs painting now? Room? Just one? Ha! Three rooms need to be painted but one of the bathrooms is next on the list. How do you feel about wallpaper? Yuck.

5. What is one specific thing you felt gratitude for in the month of October? This kid. She turned 29 on the 14th. The gratitude was not so much for her turning 29 and making me that much older but because I get to be her mom.

6.  Insert your own random thought here. I'll leave Y'all with this little pumpkin:

And this little Oompa Loompa:

Here's the little pumpkin, the Oompa loompa, with Willy Wonka (Baby M's mommy, Baby R's auntie and my 29 year old):

Anyone else remember the fun of trying to get a
picture with more than one baby at a time?

  1. I wish i could send you some of our weather. It's 6:34 am and I'm still under the covers with my electric blanket and flannel sheets! I know I'm going to have to eventually climb out of my cocoon, but anyway...May you get cooler weather and snow for Christmas. Maybe we could just trade weather for a couple months. Love the adorable grandkid pics and happy birthday to you daughter.

    1. I'm enjoying your pictures of the snow. I'm pretty sure if we traded weather for a couple months I would no longer complain about not having cold. LOL Your cold is super cold. I just want cold, not super sized cold. :) Thank you! Grandkids are the best!

    1. I did, too! Once I got them right. I had to change the post title and some content. My brain is taking a hit with this aging thing. LOL

  5. Hey both kids are in it and that counts for something! There's a lot of pressure in the costume department these days. We used to just pull one out of the plastic packaging, rubber band the mask around our heads and off we went : ) It is feeling pretty fall like in the Upstate!

    1. Agreed! Our best pictures from when the girls were growing up were the ones where they aren't all sitting nicely with smiles. :) YES! I remember those costumes. Mother made the girls costumes when they were growing up which makes me wonder why I had to wear the ones you mentioned. LOL I'm glad Y'all are getting it! We've had a few days and now back into the 80s. But then it's going back down and I guess it'll stay as soon as we're all sick. Ha! Thanks, Joyce!

  7. So sweet to see that little pumpkin and oompa loompa. So cute! A great threesome! Sorry about your unseasonable weather. I do like sweater weather myself. Your daughter is a beauty. Happy November to you!

    1. Aren't they the cutest littles? The other aunties didn't dress up. The significant others did but I never got a picture of them. The weather is not making fall fun this year. We're back in the 80s this week. I think I need to move. :) Thank you! Happy November to you, too!

  9. I agree about the decorations. I put a few out but are still holding on to several things I have so when we have a grandchild I will decorate more! Bathrooms are definitely the hardest to paint. I love the Halloween costumes!

    1. It's more fun when there are little kids around to enjoy them. :) I am not a fan of painting anything but it has to be done. Thanks!

  10. I can't imagine doing more than one DIY room at a time. I managed the bathroom but the rest will have to wait til my get-up-and-go comes back!

Happy belated birthday to your 29 year old! :-)
