Busy Summer Hodgepodge

Hey, hey, hey, Y'all! LOTS going on around here this month, some of it so much fun (birthday parties) and some of it just necessary (probate). We've had a couple mornings reprieve from the heat to the point I thought people were going to bust out their winter jackets when one morning hit the 60s. 😂😂😂

But, the heat is back and so is the Hodgepodge so let's get on with it!

From this Side of the Pond

1. What's something in your house you'd like to get rid of but can't? Hahaha! This one cracked me up. Define can't. If you mean because I keep putting it off then TONS of things. If you mean I just can't part with it then nothing really.

2. When is the last time you experienced a sense of nostalgia? Every minute of the day. Elaborate. Apparently, this happens frequently when you recently lost your mother. When you couple that with being a sentimental fool the stuff hits several times/day.

3. You're only allowed three apps on your smartphone or tablet...which three do you keep? If you're referring to the ones I put on my phone and not the ones that come with it then I'd keep Etsy, IG, and Snapchat. Etsy because I have an Etsy shop and use my phone when the computer is not with me; IG because I use it for my Etsy shop, and Snapchat because the girls and I have a group chat and we also have one that includes the boys.

4. July 11th is National Blueberry Muffin Day. Who knew? Do you like blueberry muffins? Yes. If you were going to have a muffin would blueberry be your choice? It all depends on the other choices and my mood, of course. It depends on what else is being offered because I'll take a cupcake over a muffin any day of the week. What's the last thing you baked? I think it was cornbread but it's hard to recall since I do not like turning on the oven during the summer.

5. What's the biggest way you've changed since you were a child? I've gotten older. In what way are you still the same? I'm silly, socially shy, distrusting of others, and love playing games (like real games not mind games...Ha!)

6. Insert your own random thought here. This little bit of love had a birthday on Saturday. She's 2 now. TWO. Her mommy and I took her to breakfast on Friday and then to a local specialty toy store her mommy and aunties LOVED visiting when they were growing up called, Hollipops. Joyce, there used to be one in Greenville. Have you checked it out?

Saturday, her parents threw her a birthday party at Little Gym and what a total blast that was! I have never been around such energy in my life. LOL Here's a video of Bug with one of her school friends.

Gosh, how I love this age, Y'all!

Most of my pictures were blurry because you simply do not slow down a room full of two-year-olds.

That's Bug's mommy in the background.

Sitting beside her cousin and laughing at the little boys across from her.
Our sweet boy couldn't be there as he was battling a fever with an ear infection but they had just spent the 4th of July together so they had time with one another.

OH! Tune in THURSDAY to see my future SIL and the boys (THE WILD FEATHERS) on the Today Show. Then tune in on SATURDAY to see them on CBS Saturday Morning. And then, come on down to CHARLESTON on SEPTEMBER 1st to see them at THE MUSIC FARM! If you can't make that, they'll be in BLUFFTON, SC on NOVEMBER 16th.

Why am I only sharing the SC venues? Because I want y'all to come down and go with me! Just click the picture to go to their website and see if they'll be playing in your neck of the woods!

  1. I feel thinner just watching that video! LOL. So wonderful to see that child surrounded by people who love her. Love the photo of the kids flat on the floor. That is so cute. And we know they're just recharging for the next round. Have a great Wednesday, Pam!

  3. Our youngest grandson is close in age (1 1/2) and every single day is so much fun. They have such a sense of wonder and it's fun to watch them discover the world and begin to develop their personalities. We think our grandson is going to be a jokester!
I checked and you s-i-l's band will be playing in Pittsburgh on Sept. 14, but given the time and it being a Friday, I won't be able to get done at work and make it there. Sigh. I miss more good concerts and shows for that reason. Have a blessed day!

    1. We have an almost one-year-old grandson and this little two-year-old and goodness but they do love discovering their world, don't they? LOL I'm thinking both of mine are going to be jokesters so we're all trying to be on our toes NOW. LOL

I'm so sorry you're going to miss the boys. They are so good! Work gets in the way of so much, doesn't it? :)

  4. Happy Birthday to Bug. She is so cute and so full of energy. I don’t like SnapChat, but my daughter has me on MarcoPolo now and it’s not too bad. It’s similar to SnapChat, but instead of pictures, it’s videos.

Hope you have a great day.

    1. Thanks! You know, I don't love SnapChat either but it's what they want to use so we do. If they snap anything of the kids that I want though, I make them send it to me so I can keep it. LOL You know you can do videos on SnapChat, too right? :)

    1. Isn't it? The bad news is Ben has been running a fever for the last two days so as soon as filming ended today he was supposed to go by a minute clinic in NYC to see if it's strep. Poor thing. Yes, those little grands do grow more delightful every day! Thanks!

  7. Awww . . . I am so sorry for the loss of your mother. It sounds like you were close to her. :(

I, too, am distrustful of people. I'm not sure why, but it takes me a little while to warm up to new acquaintances. I guess I've been burned so much by people in the past that I guard my heart.

    1. Thank you. We really thought she'd rally and come back home but it just didn't happen. Yes! Exactly on the distrust part. Once you get that way it's nearly impossible to change it.

  8. You are right about all that energy! If I could only harness a quarter of it! Ha! Bug/Marcy is adorable and I can't believe she is two already! Loved the Hodgepodge! Wish I could get to Charleston or that concert! I really like their sound! I listen on our Echo a time or two a week (that's BIG for me, since I'm not really into music).

  11. Me too, tons of things because I'm putting it off. Me too on the nostalgia, everyday! I went with apps that might help in an emergency. Looks like a fun birthday party. I taped the Today Show and they talked about them being on but it only taped for 2 hours and I didn't get to see them :(

  12. Hi Pam, I lost my mom 10 years ago (today actually) and some days it still feels like yesterday. I'm so sorry you're going through that. I'm a sentimental fool too. Prayers for you as your heart heals.
