Wednesday Words of Weight Loss- The HOP

Patrice, at Everyday Ruralty, hosts Wednesday Words of Weight Loss every Wednesday!  It's a fun HOP that offers encouragement and company on the issue of weight.  Come on, this is your week to join in the FUN! (After the questions, I have a little favor to ask...)

1. Do you eat when stressed or bored? Yes.  And happy.  And sad.  And angry.  There's not one single emotion that doesn't send me to food trough.  Not one.

2. What's your favorite sport or physical activity to participate in? I really enjoy walking Tucker every day and I am enjoying Zumba via the Wii.  Maybe, one day, I will get up the nerve to dance around like a fool in front of actual people in a Zumba class.  Not yet.

3. What's your favorite fruit? This is hard- I love fruit.  Almost all fruit.  My top picks are probably strawberries, pineapple, nectarines.  Oh and watermelon.  And cherries.  And golden delicious apples...grapes (red, seedless), oranges...  Maybe it would be easier if I put the ones I don't like.  Pears.  I don't care for pears.

4. I have "fat jean" and "skinny jeans" in my closet. Does anyone else have these? Jeans?  Are you kidding me?  I haven't worn jeans in YEARS.  I absolutely REFUSE to buy my size in a pair of jeans.  If I EVER get back to a decent size, then I'll buy jeans again.

5. What can you do this week to be nice to yourself?  Well, I could cut out some sugar, but I probably won't.  So, I'll say I can make more use of our juicer!

THE FAVOR:
Deanie, DD2, has entered a design contest and needs our votes!  If you want, you can go to the website, look at the tabs at the top (under the site name) and click on VOTE.  Once there, look for the two designs by cclofton (one is Don't Fret and the other is Boho Mosaic--the pages keep changing with entries but Don't Fret was on page 3 and Boho Mosaic was on page 4 as of last night)  The website is here: http://txstyle.businesscatalyst.com/
 Thank you so much!

  1. One thing I learned from my cousin's diabetes counselor - your body doesn't know the difference between a glass of fruit juice and a Snickers bar, except that the Snickers bar also has protein. Juice is just plain sugar with some anti-oxidants. Depressing, I know. I'm still trying to find some nutrition in DOTS. LOL

  2. The difference for me is that I get a lasting burst of energy from the juice I make in the juicer (I never buy juice) but no burst at all from candy. I like to use the juicer for fruit juice in the morning and vegetable juice in the afternoon. The energy from the fruit juice keeps me going longer than on the days I don't make it. My mother is learning about diabetes as she was diagnosed with Type 2--I sent her the Eat to Beat Diabetes by Dr. Howard Shapiro--he talks a lot about soy protein and the prevention even reversal of diabetes...have you heard anything about that?

  3. I'm considering a beginner Zumba class later today. Maybe I should just buy it for the Wii. Yeah, I like that idea.

How can you not like pears?!

  4. Beverly, I knew I was in trouble when DD2 told me how she took Zumba classes while at college and it was "real intense"...LOL With the pears- it's the texture. They're gritty.

  5. Isn't trying to lose weight the most frustrating un-fun activity there is? aaarrrrgggghhhh!

  6. A big, ripe, juicy peach is the best thing ever. As far as jeans, I do have a pair. And if I ever get small enough not to need the, I figure I'll stuff them and make them into a couch.

  7. I'm not a fan of pears either. I've never been an emotional eater. Usually when I'm stressed I stay away from food. Great way to lose weight!

FYI, I voted on the designs. I thought they were lovely.

  8. Michele- I just can't get over the texture--the taste is great, but the texture? Not so much.

Chele- I wish I stayed away from food when I'm stressed!

Betty- I wouldn't be able to stand your heat down there! Zumba is fun, but intense!

  9. Thanks for linking to my blog again. I've got to find out what this zumba is!

I love fruit too! I can't wait until we have watermelons in the field this summer.

I voted. I hope she wins.

  10. Patrice- you're quite welcome! I really enjoy this HOP! Watermelons right in your field? I'm moving in!

  11. I love juice but have been told it's just to full of sugar so I've been leaning away from it. I love fruit, I don't know of a fruit I don't like except beady apples. They have to be crisp and slightly sour for me.
I can't live without my jeans. Other pants seem to make me feel fatter then my jeans. I have gone from a 22 to a 16 so maybe that makes a difference but I've always worn jeans.
Take care Pam and if I can swing it this weekend I'm getting the Wii Zumba. I don't want to wait any longer.
    Take care and God Bless!!!

  12. Julie- Wonder what the diff is between store bought and using the juicer at home with no additives? I've put on a pair of capris today with a zipper and button and---THEY ARE TOO BIG. Well, not TOO big because I can wear them although they sit way down on my hips. Hopefully they won't fall down! LOL Point is, I am not in a pair of knit pants today.

  13. Great post! I use to think that way about jeans too. But I gave in. I'm an emotional eater as well... makes it very very hard doesn't it. I love the visuals you add to your posts!
