V is for Vulture, W is for Water and Wednesday HOPS

I am a day behind on the A-Z Challenge and it's driving me NUTS!  So, today I give you TWO letters:

V is for VULTURE...of the turkey variety--

W is for WATER

I have finally figured out how to get all 8- 8 oz glasses of water down before midnight…just go out and work in the garden in this low-country heat…I can have three 16. 9 oz bottles of spring water down before noon!

Ass off is still holding me true.  For anyone who is unfamiliar with Ass off, that’s my solution to my weight issues –I took the things I like from Atkins and combined them with the things I like about Suzanne Somers’ program and I’m losing…slowly, but  it IS coming off.  Seriously, you could use my ass as a table for a tea party---it NEEDS to come off.

I am amazed and quite proud to announce that I had absolutely ZERO sugar over the holiday weekend.  As a matter of fact, I haven’t had any sugar since March 19th.  That is HUGE for me.

W is also for the WEDNESDAY HOPS:

The first HOP is from Patrice, at Everyday Ruralty, who hosts Wednesday Words of Weight Loss every Wednesday!  It's a fun HOP that offers encouragement and company on the issue of weight.  It's never too late to join!  Come on, this is your week to join in the FUN!

Questions
1. As the weather is getting warm, I want to know if you're a person for the higher temps or one who likes to be in with the air conditioning.  The hotter it gets the more I prefer to stay in the air conditioning.  I don't like to sweat.  I don't like to take five showers every day.  Good moods elude me when it's hot.  However, I do go out every day, hot or cold, and walk Tucker and to work in the garden.  I just make sure I get up really early so that I'm back inside before it gets unbearable.

2. Shorts or capris?  Capris dahlin'--NOBODY wants to see these legs!

3. Do you need the prescribed 8 hours of sleep, or can you get by with more or less?  Seven hours/night is perfect for me.  A couple of hours less and I am to be avoided.  A couple of hours more and I wake up with a headache and back ache.

4. What's your favorite healthy snack?  Nuts with sea salt (just a few) or cheese and olives.

5. Tell me one thing you can do for yourself this week that would make you feel good.  Complete everything on my graduation prep list.  Birdie graduates in one week and five days!

My Birdie

Second is WEDNESDAY HODGE PODGE from Joyce at From This Side of the Pond. I've been wanting to participate in this one for a while but kept forgetting!  Let's just chalk it up to the age thing.

Wednesday Hodgepodge Questions

1. What is something that bothers you if it is not done perfectly?  Well, it used to be ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING.  But, I have mellowed in my advancing age and now, if someone does something to help out, I just try to appreciate their efforts and not comment on how it was done.

 Me then.......................................................Me now

2. What is one of your best childhood memories? The excitement from the anticipation of the arrival of Christmas Eve!  Oh goodness, that was such a time!  It's impossible to narrow it down to one specific Christmas though.  They all ROCKED!

Christmas 1960

3. Do you plan to watch the Royal Wedding and when was the last time you wore a hat?  I wear a hat in the garden- does that count?  I want to watch it but I promised a friend I would substitute teach for her that day. I'm very excited about it- I just love Kate!  William too, but Harry is my fave!

4. Where do you fall in the birth order in your family? Do you think this has influenced your personality? I was an only for the first 11 years and have been the oldest since then--my parents adopted THREE biological brothers.  They are FANTASTIC! I definitely believe that being an only child all those years molded my personality--I am quite self-centered.

Our first day as sister and brothers!

5. Where do you think you spend most of your money? At Wal-Mart. In my defense, they do sell groceries there too.  And they are less expensive than K-Mart or Target.  And I really hate going in there.

6. When you need to confront someone would you rather communicate in person, on the phone, by email or by letter? Why?  It is much better for me to confront via email or letter BECAUSE if I do in person I am going to blow my stack and lose all credibility.  I'm much better in writing.

7. Dodge ball, freeze tag, kickball or jump rope? You have to pick one. I absolutely LOVED freeze tag when I was a kid so freeze tag is my choice!

8. Insert your own random thought here.  Some of you are familiar with our weather dude heres and how they never get it right.  They are not calling for rain until Thursday.  Monday, we had THREE rain showers.  Tuesday, we had one--it was a down pour complete with thunder and it lasted from morning until the afternoon.  I don't know whether to stick around for Thursday or just ignore it.

  1. When I have to confront someone in person I often end up crying. I don't know why, that's just how my emotion comes out. That's why I prefer something written if at all possible.

Glad you played along today! Welcome to the Hodgepodge!

  2. Christmas eve was my favourite time as a child too and when I confront someone, I do it in person, but not straight away, I wait a few days til I calm down and then I can get my point across without letting my emotions get in the way. Holly reckons I am more scary when I am calm! LOL

  3. You do realise, don't you, that you've used up your "Z" for tomorrow? ZERO SUGAR??

I don't think many of us are built for confrontation, although I suspect there are those who thrive on it :) I try to avoid it at all costs.

  4. Joyce- Thanks! It's a really fun meme! I will cry too if my level of frustration gets really high.

lou-I've tried waiting for a few days but, as soon as I confront them, my anger/frustration takes over like it just happened. I think I hold on to things--reckon? LOL

Desiree-OH NO! I didn't catch that! Maybe no one else will either and it can be our secret. LOL Confrontation isn't fun but sometimes we just have to do it. It's funny though, every time I have confronted someone who acted against my girls, I have no problem whatsoever confronting them face-to-face.

  6. Wow...you got through Easter without any sugar??? That's to be commended! Yay for you!

I'm not a fan of the heat either, and it's difficult to get me out of the house once it gets hot!

I'm glad you did the Hodgepodge today, I enjoyed reading your answers--and seeing the photo of you at Christmas :)

  7. How incredibly cool to have adopted brothers. Your parents were amazing to go from one to four - instantly!! I doubt you are as self-centered as you think you are!

  8. I used to have to have everything perfect also, but have learned to mellow out :)

  9. Susan- Thank you! I love being a big sister even though the brother closest to my age takes on more of a big brother role- but I love it!

Kathy-I can't believe it but YES, I got through without eating sugar! Thanks! I really like this meme!

Donna-Oh girl, trust me. I'm as self-centered as they come. Bossy too.

Cindy- I much prefer the mellow me, don't you?

    ReplyDelete
  10. Yes, the mellow me is much friendlier and happy :)

btw, where do you get your cute cartoon pics. I love them !

  13. What a coincidence that we would both post on vultures today! You mentioned cheese as a snack. I'm surprised my blood isn't that yellowish-orange shade of cheese. Our whole family eats tons of cheese. Love it! Have a great week!

  14. Confront anything in writing is my motto. I agree that off-the cuff rants can result in a face-to-face. Funny how not everyone agrees...especially when they're on the other end of the email LOL

  15. Farm Girl- Thank you! I know, the rain is most unusual for this area--we are dry to normal most of the time.

Patrice- You know what they say---great minds...LOL

Stephanie-LOL! I definitely make a strong 'written' point.

  16. Wow! How wonderful that your parents adopted three brothers!! What an amazing gift to give those boys...the gift of staying together. I'll bet their addition to the family took your self-centeredness away (at least a little bit of it). LOL

    ReplyDelete
  17. auburn-One would think that it would have taken some of that self-centeredness away but it didn't. My brothers spoiled me way more than my parents ever did! LOL

  18. You've had rain too? We Texans must've seriously pissed off Mother Nature.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Michele- We have had rain-and lots of it. We did need it-and there's more coming tonight and tomorrow. I've been watching those storms y'all have been having and thinking of all my Texas friends!

  20. I buy a lot of my groceries at Walmart too. Although I'm really beginning to think only weird people go there. Or is it just me? : )

    ReplyDelete
  21. Michele--I just realized that you aren't getting the storms. So, I'm sending a rain dance your way- minus any serious storm scares!

    Jill- I don't know--sometimes I wonder. LOL

  22. I love the Q&A's. One day I'll play along, maybe when things slow down a bit or at least in my mind they slow down so I can think straight.
Take care and thanks for sharing. Love it!!
    God bless you my friend.

I loved the picture of Birdie hanging upside down! How cute is she?

  26. Betty- Thank you! That's so sweet!

Annie- She's a sweetie too! And just 10 days from being a college graduate!

  27. I've been following your blog for just a little while now. I'm new to blogging but found it interesting that you were doing an ABC theme. That's what started my blog--my husband and I decided to reinstate date nights using the ABC theme after a dreary and LONG winter. It's been fun but it's harder than we thought and we're only up to 'g'. You're my hero to post ONCE a day!

Thank you so much for taking the time to comment! It makes me feel connected to everyone even though we may live far apart! Have a wonderful day!
