HUMP DAY HOPS!

Ready to spring into the Hodge Podge and do some Chattin' on the porch? Feel free to click on the links and join in the fun!

If you're here for Chats on the Farmhouse Porch only, then scroll down.

First up is WEDNESDAY HODGE PODGE from Joyce at From This Side of the Pond.  This meme is fun and sometimes even poses a challenge (read: she makes us use our noggins!).

1. The first day of spring is here...do you enjoy working in the yard? Weeding, raking, mowing, planting-your favorite springtime garden chore? How about your least favorite?Hahahahahahahaha!! Joyce, you crack me up girl! I hate all yard work! Every stinking bit of it! If I had the big bucks to throw around, I'd hire someone in a skinny minute to do it all for me. And, a big part of the reason I hate yard work is that Hubs has failed to do the super huge jobs out there that only he can do (I am terrified of not good with a chainsaw). And, the longer he puts it off, the worse it gets. Shoot, I have taught myself how to turn a blind eye to the mess (and I mean horrid mess) that is our front yard. And the back yard isn't much better. Let's just chalk this one up to yet another broken promise and leave it at that.

2. What puts a spring in your step? The lovelies, of course! And autumn! And the fall holiday season!

3. Describe a time when you had to spring into action? The last time that I remember springing into action was last year when the lady fell off her bike where Tuck and I walk every day. She was riding her bike and her dog was (leashed) running beside her. The dog wanted to go one way and the lady fell and hit her head on the pavement. It's the first time I've ever had to call 911 in my life. Kind of scary.

4. We're having carrots for dinner...would you prefer yours raw or cooked? No preference, just serve 'em up!

5. Do you take the shampoos and other sundries from your hotel room when its time to check out? On the rare occasion that I have stayed in one of those bug infested places, I took my own shampoo, etc. so, no.

6. What's the most enjoyable team or club you've belonged to and what was it that made it so? I can't remember one single team or club I've been involved with since I was a kid. The lovelies have all belonged to teams and clubs and we enjoyed all of those. And Breezy and Deanie were in a sorority in college. Not me though. Those girls were stuck up! The sorority girls, not the lovelies. LOL

7. Is cloning a sign of progress?I think it might be more a sign of weird and freaky stuff going on. LOL

8. Insert your own random thought here. Last Wednesday I was in heaven picking up Deanie and Birdie at the airport. This week I'm a bit sad- we had to return Birdie on Sunday and Deanie this morning and Breezy had to go back on Monday. I hate goodbyes. And then there's that initial silence that hangs over everything.

Deanie begins her new job as an interior designer tomorrow! She's excited and so are we- it's the only reason I let her go back. ;)

Seems like we're being skipped over not only by winter but by spring also since our temps are in the mid 80s already. It's going to be a long, hot summer. UGH.

So, Peyton Manning is going to play for Denver. Am I crazy or does anyone else out there think he's tempting fate by continuing to play football following a serious neck injury? Seems to me that after that type of injury, the next time it wouldn't take quite as hard or awkward a hit to render someone paralyzed. Or dead. This might be taking athleticism to a ludicrous level. Scary. Glad he's not coming to play for my team.

Next up is a HUMP DAY HOP from Patrice at Everyday Ruralty called Chats on the farmhouse porch! Sometimes we get to visit with Wendell the wonder horse too!

This Week's Questions:
1. What's your favorite clock- digital or an old fashioned face with hands? I prefer the look of the analog clocks over digital but telling time is so much faster with digital.
2. What's your favorite type of bird? I don't have a favorite- I LOVE birds of all species. But I really enjoy watching ibises. The picture I took below reminds me of the Marx brothers. These birds are beautiful and comical!

3. How do you feel about being in front of people? This could include meetings, speeches, performing, or just saying something at a party. HATE it. I do NOT like being the center of attention. I'm ok at a party at my own home but that's about it. All of the lovelies got to take a speech class in college and I really wish I had that when I was in school.

4. What's the last item of clothing that you purchased? Exercise gear. In a smaller size!
5. Please give me a caption or a Wendell quote for this picture. These things aren't going to sleep in the barn are they?

    2. Congrats to Deanie on her new job! Doesn't that sound like fun. I always love reading your Wednesday Hump Day Hops posts. You crack me up. I don't dislike yard work, but it's more fun to watch someone else do it. lol

I know the letdown when the kids have been there and then they leave again...the house is way too quiet. Hope you have a good week anyway! :-)

    3. It's always so hard when your kids leave from a visit!

    4. As always I enjoy your answers. Don't you hate the silence when the house is empty after it was full awhile? It always take me a bit to get back to normal. Cool on the smaller work out clothes. Are you shy? Isn't it funny we can be really outgoing blogging but like me, if you met me in person I would be quiet. :)
I like your picture that is a great shot.
      Have a great week!

    5. My nieces always cried because they didn't want to go home when they were little. I always told them that if they didn't go home, they couldn't came back. I keep that in mind for me now. it's always a holiday when they visit!

I do okay with public speaking, it's one on one with someone I don't know that I shy away from.

WOO HOO on exercise gear in a smaller size!!!

    6. I go in spurts with gardening and yard work - I basically let it get so bad I get embarrased, then spend all weekend cleaning it up!

Payton Manning is just dumb - um, doesn't he have enough money already??

Yep - our temps our mid-80's today too!

    7. I can always feel your sadness when one of the Lovelies leaves the nest. So sweet. Happy for the new job btw. That's awesome and I wish her much success. You are always fun to read about. Love getting to know you more. In person soon I hope!! Hugs.

    8. I love your comment about hotels being "bug infested places". I'm right there with you on that one! Best of luck to your daughter as she begins her new job!

    9. Hmm...I always enjoy that quiet for a while. Then I start to realize why it's so quiet and wish the noise-maker was back :)

I so wish I could have sent you some of our snow - any time, Pam!

    10. With younger children at home I find myself at times thinking I'd like some peace & quiet, but then I immediately remember what this will mean - my daughters will be gone. So, I discipline myself to enjoy the here and now and remind myself that one day the house will be perfectly quiet and clean, but that is only because our girls will gone (think I'll cling to the noise and dirt as long as I can).

I love your pics of ibises!!

      Have a blessed day!

      In Him~

I combine the yardwork (which I love workin' in my flower gardens) and puttin' the spring in my step. I play the oldies as I work! Woohoo...life just doesn't get any better!!!

God bless ya and have yourself a beautiful day!!! :o)

    13. I agree about the clocks. The ibis are really cool. I've only seen them on vacation. I don't believe they come this far North. Yeah- exercise gear in a smaller size!!!Way to go, girl! I like your Wendell quote. When he discovered that they had grain, I thought he would get up in THEIR house. My crazy horse!

    15. Kimberly- It sure is! The time always goes by way too quickly.

Judy- She is so excited! She’s been texting us pictures of different outfits. The house is still quiet. Although DoodleBug has been over all evening- which is very nice.

      MKM-It certainly is!

FG- Thanks! I do hate it. I’ll get used to it again, but the beginning is always difficult. I’m shy when it comes to getting up in front of people. I think it’s because I hate being judged.

Nani-I like the idea of thinking of their visits like a holiday! That makes it even nicer. I don’t mind the one on one except that I’m not very good at small talk.

Biz-I wish Hubs would get embarrassed by our yard. LOL Peyton is asking for trouble as far as I’m concerned. And you’re right about the money! How much does one person need? I get by on way less. LOL

Barb- It’s so great when they arrive but taking them back to the airport flat out sucks. Are you coming down soon? Let me know!

April- I’m scared to death to stay in those places anymore. Makes my skin crawl to think about it! And now I’m itching. LOL Thanks! She’s quite excited!

Stephanie- Amen to that! I wish you could have too! I would have loved it!
living- You’re right- enjoy it now-dirt and all. The time goes by so quickly!

Nezzy- Thank you! Whenever I’m in the garden, I always have my ipod with me. Music does the trick!

      Eva-Thanks! She’s so excited!

Patrice-I read everyone’s Wendell quotes and some of them were hilarious! The ibises are so comical the way they walk in a line like the Marx Brothers!

Corner- Not exhausted but I will be after I clean up from all the company. LOL

    16. That lady on her bike should not have had her dog leashed while she was 'peddling her a$$ around town' [pun intended] in the first place. But, glad to hear you were there to help her out!!

As for the three birds in a row...I loved this...kinda comical in a way, but still a real cool image.

    17. No doubt the lovelies. I can always feel it when you talk about them! I love raw carrots with ranch dressing.

Thank you so much for taking the time to comment! It makes me feel connected to everyone even though we may live far apart! Have a wonderful day!
