Hump Day HOPS!

It's the middle of the week y'all! So take a minute and have a bit of fun with the Hodge Podge and some Porch Chattin'!

1. The Summer Olympics officially begin this Friday night...will you be watching? If you could see just one event in person which one would you pick? Nope. I've never been a fan of the Olympics though I do appreciate all the effort the athletes put into their sport. But I am excitedly awaiting the beginning of football season!

2.Do lazy days make you feel rested or unproductive? Unproductive for the most part. UNLESS I'm having a lazy day because I've been majorly productive a few days prior to the lazy day.

3. July 25th is 'officially' Threading the Needle Day...can you sew? On a scale of 1-10 with 1 being not at all and 10 being Betsy Ross-like, how would you rate your skill with a needle and thread? I can sew but I don't like to. And I am probably a 2 or, on a really patient day, a 3.

4. 'Threading the Needle' can also mean to walk a fine line between two things or issues (think awkward social situation). When was the last time you had to 'thread the needle', figuratively speaking? When family members go at it. I hate that. I'm not referring to the lovelies-they rarely, if ever, argue. But there are family members who are stubborn and opinionated and when they go at it I find that path between the two and run like hell!

5. Kidney, pinto, black, or navy...your favorite bean? I love all beans. But, if I had to pick only one, I'd choose pinto. Wait- navy. No, no. Black. ARGH! I can't pick just one!

6. Have you ever hosted a garage sale? Was it more success or bust? Yes, I've hosted several garage sales over the years and they've all been successful in that all that 'stuff' got taken out of my house! And we made a buck or two as well.

7. What makes you roll your eyes? The husband when he tries to be funny (he missed out on the humor gene) and when he talks politics or social issues.

8. Insert your own random thought here. We had a lovely dinner last night in honor of DoodleBug's 21st birthday! It's still to early to hear reports about the bar crawl after party. I just hope no face plants were involved.

Opening her gift from Birdie. I'll post all about it later...

The roomies! Gibbsterrific, HannahBanana and DoodleBug.

  2. Wow, 21 is soooo young! Ooo, maybe we can grill some of that fresh shrimp. I've been wanting to make shrimp scampi for a long time. Maybe, after the weather cools down a bit, I'll do just that!

  3. Happy 21st to Doodlebug! I remember when I turned 21....Ah, who am I kidding? LOL It's definitely the one night you don't volunteer to be the Designated Driver. ;)

Those earrings are SO pretty and the drawing is on my birthday, maybe I need to see what's going on on Patrice's porch. I could whip up gazpacho to bring!

  9. You're waiting for the football season? Really? I would never have known. lol I'm convinced that only part of it is because you love football, and the other part is because it means cooler weather. Right? Love the pics of your girls!!

I don't do garage sales, but all it took was watching 'Hoarders' for the first time and I'm pitching! Yikes.

  10. Looks like a fun party. 21 is such and exciting time! I watched Oprah the other night with past Olympians who won big. I admired a comment that was made about the fact that these are truly the best of the best and no money can buy you a place in the Olympics.

  11. Godsgalnj- Well, happy birthday to you too! She did have a great day. And, this weekend, all of her sisters will be home to celebrate again!

Cathy- Isn’t it though? I miss 21. We were going to have scampi until we thought about tacos. Maybe we’ll have both! Come join us!

Nani- Thanks! I remember parts too. LOL You should definitely go over there and enter to win! Gazpacho= YUMMY!

Patrice- Awesome! Let’s do it! :)

Veronica- Yes, poor thing. In our 28 years together he has averaged true funniness about once a year. LOL

Kim- Thank you! They had a nice time. Of course, it was the after party that they really enjoyed. LOL

Joyce- Yes indeed! And that was our last one. Have you ever made one of those pinto bean pies? Delicious!

Judy- Yep! It’s what I do from the super bowl until preseason in August. LOL And YES! Cooler weather does play a part in it! I don’t go to yard sales but I have held several over the years. It’s a purge thing.

Debby- It was- though I’m certain the after party was more exciting. LOL It’s true- they are the best of the best. I just don’t care for the sports that they participate in. It’s not football. :)

I really don't like beans, at all, which is confusing as I like almost everything else that is healthy. (oh, some "unhealthy" stuff too!!)
I'm actully going to the Olympics next week, but will remember not to wave at you, lol!

  16. Good answers! I kinda feel the way you do about the olympics, but since I am in the minority around here so I imagine the tv will be on a lot for the next two weeks!
