Hodge Podging in like a Lamb

I don't know about where you live, but around here, March tiptoed in like the teeniest, tiniest lamb I've ever seen. So I hope that it will march out of here like a lion leaving wintery weather in it's wake. Otherwise, all we've gotten out of winter is some days of cold weather. No ice. No snow. No fun.

But, that's winter in the low-country of SC. At least, that's the way it's been for two years now. I guess it's time to move. Meanwhile, Joyce has provided us with some much appreciated fun with the Hodge Podge!

1. My real life friends came through with another question this week so thank you real life friends. When you've eaten in a restaurant do you complete their comment card? Do you take online surveys highlighted at the bottom of store receipts? I do. And 98% of the time, I'm completely positive about it! I even tend to not fill one out if my experience was negative. UNLESS someone really ticks me off and then I let them have it--and then I come home and blog about them. LOL I try to do it every time my experience is positive. Which is most of the time.

2. The (US) ban on women in combat was lifted at the end of January. It will probably be next year before specifics are worked out, but its been reported over 200,000 front line positions will eventually open up to women.  Your thoughts? If that's what they want to do, fine with me. Just leave me out of it. I don't like it that men fight in wars. Why would I like it that women do too? I will say, however, that if there are women who want to do this, then they should be allow to do so. Besides, girls can do anything boys can do. Only better. :)

3.  In looking back at all the blog posts you've written, what's your favorite post title? It Takes Big Balls To Do That. NOT, however, my favorite post.

4. What's worse-overly permissive parents or overly protective parents?  Did your own parents lean more to the permissive or the protective category?  If you're a parent where do you fall? I think they're both equally not so good. A happy medium is best. My parents leaned...no, they sat on the protective bench. Shoot, they built it and held it up. Frankly, I rebelled. BIG TIME. I tried to be that happy medium parent.

5.  Candlelight-moonlight-firelight-bright lights in the big city...which one's your favorite? Moonlight, without a doubt, without hesitation. Some of my favorite memories involve moonlight. ;)

6. Dr. Seuss's birthday was celebrated on Saturday. What's a favorite book you remember (Seuss or otherwise) from your own childhood?  Did books play an important role in your growing up years? Explain. I read all the time when I was growing up. Books were of the utmost importance to me and that might have had something to do with the fact that my Dad's mother was the town librarian. I spent my summers in there with her and loved every minute of it. All four of the lovelies adore books and are avid readers.

7.  To quote Dr. Seuss...

"From there to here, and here to there, funny things are everywhere."
from One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish

Share something funny you've recently read, seen or heard.  Well, that quote is funny. It's the one I used as my facebook status on Saturday. LOL

8.  Insert your own random thought here. It's only another month until my bestie's daughter's wedding. And that means all of the lovelies will be home. As well as BestSonInLawEVER and Evwardo. It also means that we get to meet Deanie's new beau- Samboni. He's a writer. A good one. He's got women all over my school swooning like crazy. Deanie lets me share some of his messages, though I'm quite certain I haven't seen all of them. One really great thing about him is that he's from NC and he wants to get back there. I like that. NC is only one state away. As opposed to DC where they both live right now. See where my thought process is going here? :)

And let's not forget that it's early release day at school today! WHAT?! Thaaat's riiiight! I'm going home early! Woot! Woot!

Have a fantastic Wednesday!

  1. Early release, huh? Definitely reason to celebrate! Moonlight wins my vote, too! No snow or ice all winter long for us, either. I used to be bummed about it, but I'm over it now. Ready for SPRING!!!

  2. We have similar thoughts on many of the questions. I am so happy for you with that wedding coming up. Your going to have a ball.

  4. I don't really like those survey cards they stick in with the restaurant's bill. If I have a concern they should already know about it AND have taken steps to correct the problem. If I'm happy then they know because I said so when the server interrupted a) my conversation or b) my delicious mouthful to ask.

    Enjoy your early dismissal day!

  5. April- Heck yes!!! In about an hour I will be on my way home! Wait, I'm NOT at school right now. Really. :)

Debby- We are all looking forward to it. Though mostly just to be together. The wedding is just something to do. LOL

Kathy- Thanks! It's crazy but empty nesters will understand, right? :)

Stephanie- You sound like my mother. And, if they haven't, she doesn't bother with a card. She just lets them have it on her way out. LOL

  8. retired- I'm just desperately seeking winter!

Marla- Oh, so you're one of THOSE. LOL Spring is my least favorite season and summer is a close second. Except for the lovelies who have birthdays during those seasons. But winter and fall? LOVE! Even though they're too mild around here anymore. I've been here for 30 years and the 'good' seasons have gotten warmer and warmer. UGH. But I do so love the history and the wildlife around here.

JP- Snow! Everyone has snow but me. :(

bill- I would love to have some of your lovely snow. Blow some down my way, please. Mooning = lol. I remember my brother and the football team doing that all the time in high school. To the other team and all. Ah, the 70s. We were so mature. LOL

  13. It is always nice to stop by and get caught up and read your answers. I am so glad they will all be home soon.
I am also so impressed your Grandma was the town Librarian. How cool is that. It just sounds perfect. Sorry about that lamb thing, I am hoping for some lion weather too.

  14. Kim- Thanks! I'm glad too. I really miss them when they aren't around. Of course, the quiet has become nice too. :) I loved my time at the library. Especially when she let me help her put up bulletin boards!
