Walking Along and Singin' A Song Fragment Style

This was one long week. But it always happens that way when it's a short week. Thanks to Mrs. 4444s, here's the week in fragments.

Half-Past Kissin' Time

The third week of school has ended. And I survived. Last year, we had a group of fifth graders who I think we would have passed to 6th grade even if they were all failing every single course just to get them out of the school. This year, it looks like kindergarten, third, fourth and fifth grades are a pure delight. Those first and second graders, on the other hand, are a different story altogether.

Tucker had a visit from the groomer this week. He might have been slightly less than thrilled at first--

But he soon recovered.

I bought a new game for my kindergarten students. It's a programming board game! I'm so excited about trying this out with them next week.

DoodleBug just returned from a trip to San Francisco and brought me these:

Based on this:

The lovelies and I laugh until we cry AND hurt every time we see this. Deanie used the skit for a project in Honors English for WUTHERING HEIGHTS and her teacher LOVED it. Yeah, I know. But I keep telling y'all that we're a crazy family. :) The tape is around here somewhere. If I ever find it, I'll share it.

We have some bad news in our neighborhood. The lady across the street from us had to move in with her son due to ill health. This was the bad news a few months ago. The bad new now is that they decided to rent her house out. To 5 college students. FIVE. In our family neighborhood. If nothing else, these five young students of the female variety (because I dare not call them ladies) are certainly supporting my theory that kids are now raised with a sense of entitlement and a total lack of common courtesy.

Last but not least, I fell in love this week. With Pete the Cat. The book starts at about 30 seconds. It's so much better when 25 kindergarten students are singing along, but it's still fun just by yourself. Enjoy!

Have a great weekend, y'all!

  3. That was a great SNL skit.
Good luck with the 5 college girls. What's the chance that all 5 will last the school year?

  5. I saw Pete the Cat on Facebook this week and have already shared it. Excellent, excellent lesson for all of us!!

Sorry about the five college students across the street. Kids today (many of them) have no respect for themselves, let alone for anyone else. It's very sad.

  7. Oh dear. The new neighbors. Hope things settle down there! I don't think I could eat the candy based on the description. The word moist is icky. Have a great week!
