Steamy Hodgepodge and a Cute Baby

Lawdy, y'all! It's HOT outside. Hot enough to fry that proverbial egg on the sidewalk. But I guess everyone noticed since it seems to be that way everywhere. I sure am glad I have fun, inside things to occupy my time this summer. Like a new granddaughter and the Hodgepodge!

I'm having Empty Nest redesigned y'all! I'm nervous and excited. I'm on the designer's list for September. Have y'all redesigned your blog before? There's way more involved than I ever imagined.

Ok- here we go!

1. On a scale of 1-10, how would you rate your summer so far? A bit 'ol 10! Why? Because this:

2. July 26th is National Aunts and Uncles Day. Did you have many aunts and uncles growing up? Yes! Were you especially close to
any one or maybe all of them? Yes! I was somewhat close to most of them but especially to my mother's sister, Aunt Betty. Funny story- Both of my parents have only one sister and both of them are named, Betty. One is Betty Jean and the other is Betty Lou. :) Are you an aunt? Yes. (or uncle for the men who join here on Wednesdays) Share a favorite memory relating to one of your own aunts or uncles or relating to a niece or nephew who call you Aunt (or Uncle). That would take forever as I have many. I wrote a post about Aunt Betty (Jean) here if you'd like to read about her.

3. What's your favorite food dipped in chocolate? My finger. Ha! I don't think I've ever had anything dipped in chocolate that I didn't like. But narrowing that down is impossible. What's your favorite food dipped in cheese? I don't know. What does one dip in cheese? As in, fondue? I don't do fondue.

4. When were you last astonished by something? Last week. Explain. That's ok. I'm not opening THAT can of worms. Let's just say that there was a whole lot of idiocy on television last week.

5.
Surf board, paddle board, ironing board, Pinterest board, score boardclip board, bulletin board...which board have you most recently encountered? Pinterest board. For these Harry Potter butterbeer cupcakes for DoodleBug's 25th Birthday:

6. What's your favorite story from scripture? Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego.
Why that story?  Because I am a strong believer in sticking to one's beliefs. And then, there's this:

7. If you were to travel from the east coast to the west coast in your own country, which five cities would you most want to see? I've done this. Well, I did it with my grandmother and Aunt Betty when I was younger. We took the southern route. If I did it again, I'd go the northern route and make sure to visit Julie in Minnesota and Judy in Wisconsin and my wonderful SIL's family in Crown Point and anywhere in Montana because, cowboys...

8. Insert your own random thought here. Guess who's on my mind this week? Thaaat's right. The same little bit of sunshine that's always on my mind now:

Also, guess who's coming home this weekend? These two goobers:

It's the first time Deanie and DrummerBoy will see their little neice! AND, for me, it means all my kiddos and their loves will be home at the SAME TIME! I am one happy mama/grandma!

Oh, and if you didn't get a chance to read about internet trolls, hop over to the Grits. It's always good to know what's out there in cyberspace. :)

Have a great rest of the week, y'all!

  2. Yes, it IS HOT! I'll be glad when this summer comes to an end because of it, too...
Enjoy having your family together again! As time passes, that gets more difficult to do.
I read your blog post about trolling. Yes, I've been trolled, and I've seen a lot of it on YouTube. I don't know how or why some people can be so mean!

    1. I feel like I dealt with it better last summer but it's really taking it's toll on me this time around. I will enjoy them! It seems rare these days. Most of the time there will be one or two missing, but not this weekend! Have you really? I'd love to hear about it. A teacher friend was tolled by someone too. Ended up being a 60 year old woman FROM HER CHURCH. Crazy.

  4. I'm headed to Crown Point next weekend for a class reunion, I grew-up in Indiana. I haven't been back for 20 years, I'm sure it has changed a lot.
    Cheers!

    1. Our little sweetheart is wonderful! I have been enjoying every minute with her. I have 4 nieces and 1 nephew. I'm not close to any of them- long story- but I do keep in touch with one. We would be close had we lived closer- she's always been far away- Hawaii and now, New Hampshire. But she's wonderful!

    1. I'm already reminding myself to take pictures. Sometimes I get so caught up in the fun and laughs I forget. But I love having photo reminders. :) Thanks!

  9. "having Empty Nest redesigned" -- I've redesigned my blog page a few times but I've always took the DIY approach. Unless I was very popular and bringing in a good amount of ad would I even consider paying someone to design my blog page. I find you page easy to use and really it's your words that mean the most. Good luck with it.
Glad you left those worms in the can. Hey now we can kick that can out of here!

    1. Ha! If I knew how to kick that can out of here, I would be a millionaire! LOL I am so limited in my creativity and I wanted something simpler and cleaner. So, I found someone. It's really not that bad on the cost- $50. Though maybe she's just taking pity on an aging woman. Haha! The page will should still be easy to use. It will just look better, Fresher? I don't know. I need a change. The writing? That's going to stay the same cause, that's as good as it gets for me. LOL Thanks!

  10. Oh good grief, she certainly is a little dolly!!! And as for TV last week or this week, I can't stand it. I don't like the personalities, and don't like the whitewash job being done this week. Let's vote for Mr. Rogers.

    1. Mr Rogers? You got it! :) Heck, I'd even write myself in at this point. LOL Isn't she? We're all so in love! But you know how that is. :)

Thank you so much for taking the time to comment! It makes me feel connected to everyone even though we may live far apart! Have a wonderful day!
