Chatting it Up on the Hodgepodge

Wednesday. It seems you were just here last week. Ha! The heat and humidity continue to get worse by the day. There's no need to announce the arrival of summer on June 21 because it has come early. Again. Which is why I love indoor activities such as the Hodgepodge!

From this Side of the Pond

1. What makes you feel accomplished? Completing a project makes me feel accomplished. Explain. I don't need to achieve big, world-changing doings to feel accomplished. All I need to is finish something I started no matter how big or small. I don't even have to have joy in taking on or doing the project, I just need to finish it. I think the reason I keep so many projects on the back burner is that I feel when all the projects are completed and that feeling of total accomplishment comes, that's the end. That's when I'll sit down and have nothing left to do. Thousands of projects mean no end. And yes, I realize this is a truth only in my mind.

2. If you had your own talk show, who would your first three guests be?  Michelle Obama, Ellen Degeneres, Oprah. Tell us why. I admire and respect these women. I care about their opinions and I find them to be honest, compassionate, kind, intelligent, wise, interesting...

3. Do you have a great burger recipe? No, but I've found one I'm going to try. Of course, I'll have to study the recipe a bit and decide how I'm going to change it because that's what I do. And because of my bland palate. What's in it? THIS:

For the marinade:Zest and juice of 1 lime
2 tablespoons Tamari or soy sauce
2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
2 tablespoons puréed chipotle in Adobo sauce (for a medium to spicy heat level)
2 tablespoons canola or olive oil

For the burgers:2 1/2 pounds 80% lean ground beef
3 scallions, whites and light greens finely chopped
3 cloves garlic, finely chopped or grated
About 1 1/2 teaspoons (half a scant palmful) each pimentòn (smoked sweet paprika), cumin and Mexican oregano
A small handful cilantro or parsley leaves, finely chopped
Salt and pepper

What do you like on a hamburger and where is your favorite spot to order one out? Usually, I just like mayo and cheese on my burgers but I think the one above will be good. I like that it has a marinade so the burger won't be dry. My favorite spot to order one? That's tough. Around here it's My Father's Moustache, right now. I've heard of a couple other places though so we'll see if the Moustache keeps it's #1 spot.

4. What's the biggest anxiety producing thing you do on a regular basis? After thinking about this I have to say I'm pretty good at avoiding things that cause me anxiety. My anxiety is not of 'normal' levels and can rise enough to be considered off the charts. So, my answer is I don't do anything that causes me anxiety on a regular basis

5. This is the last Hodgepodge of May. Tell us about your summer plans. Lots of time with this little bug:

And, in August, we'll be welcoming her cousin, Baby R! Lots of baby-centered family time this summer, y'all!
6. Insert your own random thought here. See that dude in the picture below? That's my brother and his birthday was yesterday. He's old. Ok, no he's not because I'm a year older than him. Anyway, don't pay any attention to that jacket he's wearing. Miami Dolphins. He might as well be a Cleveland Browns fan. Bahahahahaha! I love you, Tony!

This dude LOVES to fish.
Have a great rest of the week, y'all!

  1. Go easy on the soy sauce and I'd love to try that burger. Hold the mayo. Lol. August will be a fun month there with another baby in the family. Your answer to #1 is why I never finish the housework. :-) Have a great rest of your week. I'm using an electric blanket at night because it's so COLD up here!!

    1. That's one of the things I plan on leaving out. But the mayo? No way I'm leaving out the Duke's Mayo! It's worth dying for. LOL I think that's a perfectly justifiable reason for never finishing housework. :) Would you like to trade places until November?

    1. It will be busy, that's for sure. And crazy. And maybe a little fun. LOL I have no idea how in the world I'm going to keep 2 of them every day. I need my clone to show up. And soon! Thanks, I'll pass the wishes on to him. He really is quite the fisherman competing in and winning tournaments several times/year. It's his favorite pastime.

    1. I hope so! I am a bit worried about the level of hotness and my bland palate but I think it'll be worth the try. :) How is everyone? Amber? Adam? Your dad? YOU?
