Falling into the Hodgepodge

Fall is coming, Y'all! I wish it was bringing in the cooler temps it used to do when I was a kid. Sadly, we're still going to have hot weather. Not unbearable but close. Certainly not fall-like. But, football is here and that IS fall-like!

One thing that's big fun regardless of the season is the Hodgepodge and that's what we have today! Jump on in!

From this Side of the Pond

1. What's something you'd rate a 10/10? The John Prine show I attended last Friday. Tell us why. Because-- John Prine. Y'all can read about it HERE.

2. What job would you be terrible at? Customer service. What makes you think so? Because customers. Ha! Seriously, have any of you had a job requiring you to deal with the public? People are crazy and they love to share that fact with those people trying to help them.

3. When did you last take a fall? It's been a few years, thankfully. The last 3 falls I've had landed me on the same knee. I don't think it can take much more. What's something you're falling for (in a good way) these days? These faces because you fall over and over again:

4. According to the Travel Channel here are some of America's best fall festivals-

National Apple Harvest Festival (near Arendtsville PA, close to Gettysburg), Harvest on the Harbor (Portland Maine), German Village Festival (Columbus Ohio), Wellfleet Oyster Fest (Cape Cod), and Wine and Chile Fiesta (Santa Fe NM)

Have you ever been to any of the festivals listed? Nope. Which one appeals to you most? The one in Maine. Or Ohio. Does your hometown have any sort of fall celebration, and if so will you make it a point to attend? Not really. There's a children's festival in October but it's Halloween centered and just fun for the kiddos. To be honest, the Farmers' Market downtown Charleston is more fun and they offer something for everyone.

5. What is your goodbye message to summer? Get out and take your hot temperatures and stupid hurricanes with you.

6. Insert your own random thought here. It's about to be FALL, Y'all! My favorite time of year followed by my second favorite time of year. All my favorite holidays are coming and it's football season. Goodness, even when things don't seem that great this time of year makes it all seem just fine.

  2. Sorry, I laughed at #5. I can't believe all these hurricanes! I wonder if Maria will affect you guys too. Living up here where there's an occasional tornado, it's hard to imagine storms that move so slowly but are absolutely devastating. Your grands are definitely cuties!

    1. Maria is not supposed to come here. She's supposed to take a northerly turn and go out to sea. Of course, the operative words there are 'supposed to' so.... The only thing better about hurricanes is that time to get out. Not that everyone takes advantage of it and actually evacuates. We're all scared they won't let us back home if we go. When Hugo hit in '89 they wouldn't let people back on the islands and their possessions that could have been saved were lost to the rains that came afterwards. But those with money and power sure got to go to their homes on the islands. It was bad. Some of us snuck out there via boat but Mother had had an 8' water mark inside her house so she lost everything. No one around here ever wants to see another one like that. Those babies are my whole heart. Along with Tucker, of course. :)

  3. I do love the yarn wrapped letters. I am thinking Christmas gifts.
I did work customer service for 10 years at an optical company. I worked in accounts receivable. I had to deal with Irate doctors complaining about their monthly bills. When I would get too frustrated I would place the doctor on hold, and start slamming my file cabinet drawers shut loudly . Until I calmed down enough to continue.

    1. I'm so glad you like them! I have a lot more coming it's a rather slow process but still fun! That's a great idea, placing them on hold to calm yourself down. My problem is my tongue is so quick I know I'd be fired the first 5 minutes of the job. LOL I'm glad there are those who can do it and I'm always careful to be nice to them. I sure couldn't do their job and they're just trying to help. They really aren't the problem. :) Thank you!

    1. He seems pretty chill so far. I enjoyed the concert so much! I had never seen him live before and I've been following him since the 70s. That's shameful, isn't it? Your BIL and SIL are in for quite a show!

  6. I like photos of babies, babies are awesome, hurricanes are not awesome, they are terrible and we can do without them not that we get them here in my part of the world

    1. Aren't they so cute? :) I've definitely had enough of summer and I know Y'all have, too. Thankfully, Maria will miss us. Unless she changes her mind. Do you remember the year that one hurricane couldn't make up it's mind and came in and went out several times?

  11. I've never heard of John Prine. You're right, customer service would not be an easy job. Those faces are definitely worth falling for! I do love the fact the Thanksgiving and Christmas are coming soon. Of course at this time of year I want time to stop for awhile so I can take a breath.

    1. He's amazing and has been around since the early 70s or something like that. I would love to find a way to slow this time of year down so we could all enjoy it more. :)
