A Friendly Hodgepodge

The first few October mornings have been delightfully chilly. Sadly, the temps rise by the afternoon into the upper 70s- low 80s and that's just too hot for me. I'm ready to don some fall clothes but I haven't even changed out my summer ones yet.  Maybe in another week or two. However, I am not wearing white. I know I live at the coast and other people do it but I don't care. Once Labor Day hits, I'm off the white. Some habits just don't break. Anyway, I have been enjoying the fall decorations and FOOTBALL! Especially the FOOTBALL! I've even made a couple crock pot soups. Because fall and there's no time for cooking on the weekends because FOOTBALL! Ok, I'm finished.

Wait! Let's not forget about the Hodgepodge!

From this Side of the Pond

1.  Have you ever spent time on a farm? Yes. Tell us a little bit about it. My great-grandfather had a farm and some of my cousins lived on farms near him. Our family reunions were held at my great grandparent's house each year and we always had the most fun there even when it was no longer a working farm. Have you ever grown your own pumpkin? No. Been on a hayride? Yes, a haunted one during the Halloween season. It was creepy and I wasn't a fan. But I'd go again when it wasn't a haunted one. Driven a tractor? No, but I have gotten frustrated at them when they're on the backroads and I'm trying to be a racecar driver. Milked a cow? Yes but not on Papa's farm. You can do that at one of the plantation tours here in the Charleston area and it was one of the places we visited when the lovelies were in 2nd grade. Our second graders went on 7 or 8 field trips every year during a discover Charleston unit written by one of our teachers at the time. The field trips never got old.

2. What's something younger you would like about you now? Probably not much and yes, I'm sure. Remember, I know her. I feel sure she'd be looking more like this:

UPDATE: She would, actually, like and be very happy about the 4 daughters. I always wanted daughters for as long as I can remember.

3. What are three things you'd like to do more often? Visit NashvilleDaughter and DrummerBoy; sell items in my Etsy shop; spend time with friends. Three things you'd like to do less often? Any sort of cleaning; worrying about anything; experiencing low-country heat.

4. What's on your nachos? I'm probably not eating nachos but I have had them loaded up with ground beef, beans, salsa, cheese, onions, etc. Nachos are ok but I rarely have them. I do not care for Mexican food with the exception of the 3 recipes I use.

5. What's the most random thing in your purse or wallet? Probably Tucker's proof of rabies or my glasses prescription. Does it need to stay there? Yes because when I renew Tucker's tag to be able to walk him on the beach on Sullivan's Island I have to show his proof of rabies vaccination. I need to keep my prescription there because if it's not there I won't be able to find it. Trust me, I won't.

6.  Insert your own random thought here. Where in the world would any of us be without our friends? Goodness, I am so grateful for all of mine. I have 3 with whom I am particularly close and I know I couldn't 'do life' without them. Shoot, I probably couldn't 'do life' without any of them. I know life would be quite boring without all of these crazy people. Here's to the fellow crazies in my life! I'm so grateful for each and every one of you!

  1. I'm loving this cooler weather, and enjoying the sunny afternoons. Blankets on the porch with our coffee and a boat ride in the warm afternoon : ) It's been really breezy here too which is nice. Hope all your babies are doing well!

    1. The cooler morning weather has been fantastic, hasn't it? A couple mornings Tucker and I went out and I had to come back in for a long sleeved shirt. It was glorious! We've had the breeze, too except down here it's been straight out windy with gust up to 20 mph and more. I think yesterday was the end of that, though. The kiddos are great! Marcy is coming for the weekend next Saturday so her mommy can celebrate her birthday. It'll be her last that begins with a 2 and her first 'real' 29th birthday. LOL Thanks, Joyce! Have a wonderful day!

  8. I would add cooking to "things to do less often". Just getting harder and harder to find the motivations to cook. And yes! Friends are so very important in our lives!

    1. I could add cooking to the list except during holidays. I do still enjoy holiday cooking. My friends have been so important and that include all my blogging buddies!

  9. You know farming has also been changed by technology. GPS tracking tractors and soon more robotic farming equipment. However, the locally grown movement I believe helps the smaller farm operations. Most of my farm visits during my youth involved hunting. When does gardening become farming?

    1. I know but I sure do love my memories of Papa's farm. We do have some smaller, organic farms in our area that do not use modern forms of farming. I think gardening becomes farming when you call them crops instead of a garden. LOL
