Positively the Hodgepodge

Are we really coming to the end of January? So soon? I'm hoping for another snowfall before winter ends. This 60-70 degree stuff is not working for me. It's winter for goodness sake. But guess what's always right and works for everyone? The Hodgepodge! So Let's get to it!

From this Side of the Pond

1. January 24th is National Compliment Day. Is it easy or not so easy for you to accept a compliment? No. I can't stand receiving them. As a matter of fact, when I was complimented while teaching I might very well stop doing what it was that drew the attention. The problem is, I question the motivation behind nearly every act (yes, even my own) and there are those who use compliments for manipulation and I just don't like that of course that means I make assumptions about the motivation behind the actions of others and that's not good, either so... Share a recent compliment you've given or received. I give them all the time to everyone and each one I give is sincere. Everyone knows if you receive a compliment from me, I mean it. Recently, I received compliments on my ability to assemble this crazy thing:

I did accept the compliments this time because this was not a simple, easy task. It took 3 hours and 40 minutes and Y'all can read about it HERE

2. Ten little things you are loving right now. Creating, British crime programs, the diversity in my love of music, Spotify, Bug's laugh (it's contagious and adorable), morning coffee, Baby R's laughs, when Bug reaches out to take my finger and we walk together, Tucker's nuzzles in the morning to wake me up, morning texts...the list could go on and on.

3. Would people describe you as a positive person? More like a positive person wanna-be. Do you see yourself that way? If you're asking whether I see myself as a positive person wanna-be then, yes. I read here  a list/description of eight things positive people do differently-

Positive people find something to look forward to every day, they celebrate the small stuff, they're kind, they stay busy, accept responsibility for their actions, forgive themselves, know when to move on, and resist comparisons

Which action on the list would you say you do regularly? I do several regularly: find something to look forward to every day, celebrate the small stuff, stay busy, accept responsibility for my actions, I know when to move on, and I work hard at resisting comparisons. Which action could you add to your life to give you a more positive outlook? I suppose I could be a kinder person but forgiving myself? Probs not going to happen. If you're a positive person, what's something you do regularly that's not on the list? I'm only a wanna-be but I remind myself to keep at least a small smile on my face even when I'm working.

4. Homemade chicken soup, beef stew, or a bowl of chili...what's your pleasure on a cold winter's day? I'll take any of them depending on my taste preference of the day since they're all so different.

5. The best part of my day is....This face:

And this one when he's here:

And let's not forget this handsome fellow who deserves two pictures because he puts up with a lot around here:

6.  Insert your own random thought here. The only thing on my mind worth mentioning is the shooting at Marshall County High School yesterday morning. When will it stop? (Rhetorical question, Y'all.)

  1. I know what you mean by certain complimenters! Some I call gushers, and their compliments are usually discarded because they don't seem genuine.
Your grandbabies are precious! Have a good week!

    1. I'm so glad you like them! Those sold out fast and my local supporters had me busy making more that never made it to the Etsy shop! They were some of the most fun to make, too. :) Poor, Tucker. He puts up with so much around here. I try to reward him handsomely, though.

  4. I certainly think you deserved the compliment on assembling that kitchen.

A shelf I ordered arrived yesterday. One look at all the parts was all it took and I handed the assembly challenge to our seventeen year old son. The directions were pathetic, but after some trial and error he got it done.

    Blessings~

    1. Gosh, that thing was difficult to say the least. I would gladly have handed over the assembly to the kitchen set had anyone been around that day. I think they were avoiding the house for a reason. LOL I don't know who writes the directions to these things but there is a lot of room for improvement!

  6. Ah, yes the pups do have to adjust when a baby enters the picture. They do, but it's a little bit sad. My grandson is funny to watch as the dog leans in to give him a lick. It's like he knows to brace for it and scrunches up his face. Enjoy your day!

    1. They sure do. Tucker has been a trooper and so has Marcy's dog, Strider but we still try to amend for the upheaval. :) When Tucker goes for Roland's face, Roland opens his mouth to kiss back. LOL
