Pie, Art, and the Medley

Hey, Y'all! It's Wednesday again and time for the Medley! If you're looking for some fun and friends, you'll get both by joining in!

NATIONAL PIE DAY – January 23

NATIONAL PIE DAY

National Pie Day is celebrated annually on January 23rd. (Not to be confused with March 14 which is PI π Day.)
National Pie Day was created simply to celebrate the pie.  It is a day for all to bake or cook their favorite pies.  Even more importantly, it is a day set aside for all to enjoy eating pies!
The first pies appeared around 9500 BC in the Egyptian Neolithic period or New Stone Age.

1.  Okay, fess up.  Tell us your top three favorite pies, please. Lemon, cherry, and custard are my top 3 favorite pies.  Will you have some pie today? Since I'm trying to cut the sugar (yes, AGAIN) that would be a hard NO.
2.  While we are talking about food... are you a picky eater or are you ready to try almost any new food?  Pretty darn picky. I have an extremely bland palate and I don't care for 'fancy' or weird food. What is the worst thing you have ever eaten? Liver. N.A.S.T.Y. stuff. My dad thought he'd be really cute and hide some in my potatoes when I was about 4 and I threw up. Turns out I'm allergic and that was that on the liver issue.
3.  Baking could be considered an art as could cooking.  How do you define art? Art is beauty created by someone unique who isn't restricted by any box such as painter, musician, crafter, etc. My grandmother created art in the kitchen. My mother created art using sewing. My daughters create art in many different ways. Art should never be restricted by a label.
4.  Tell us a really stupid joke that made you laugh, please. I can never think of these when prompted but this is funny and reminds me of my brother and SIL--

And I laughed at this one but it's more realistic than stupid:

5.  January 23rd is also National Handwriting Day. Do you have nice handwriting? Yes, when I am not in a hurry and my fingers don't ache. Did cursive writing come naturally or did you practice in those double-lined practice books until your fingers hurt? I don't recall ever using those practice books. As a matter of fact, I don't recall ever seeing one until my girls were in first grade. Our teacher wrote the letters on the board and we copied what she wrote. Yep, it was as simple as that.

6.  Tell us something random about your week. We had one whole day of winter temperatures! Y'all, this winter is not helping my allergies or breathing at all. It has been predicted that we have a string of colder days coming where we won't make it out of the 50s but COME ON! Not that I want the sub zero stuff my Wisconsin friends get because let's face it, there IS such a thing as TOO cold but winter weather temps and a dash of snow would be appreciated. This guy disagrees with me and stays under the covers when the temps are cold--

Have a terrific rest of the week, Y'all!

  2. #4 - So I was so thrilled to be allowed to borrow the family car for dating. The girl and I headed out and found a nice parking area. She snuggled up to me and asked, "do you want to go into the back seat?"
With shock I replied, "No, I want to stay up here with you!"
