Goodnight Irene!

Thankfully, we only experienced the outer bands of hurricane Irene! After experiencing HUGO in 1989, I do not want to experience another hurricane. EVER. It was awful!

Hubs and I, with Tucky in tow, went out to the beach to do some skywatching last night. We got way more than we bargained for! My camera is fantastic but it didn't do the sunset justice.

Let's face it: Nobody paints like God.

OH- warning- I went overboard with the pictures here. At least I didn't post all 201 shots!

This was taken in the car as we rode over the inter-coastal waterway. That's the Sullivan's Island lighthouse.

This was taken from Breach Inlet- the waterway between Sullivan's Island and the Isle of Palms.

Breach Inlet...

Breach Inlet...again.

We headed down to the end of Sullivan's Island located at the entrance to Charleston Harbor to try and catch the sunset.

That's the Morris Island lighthouse in the distance.

Thank goodness there were little kids running around out there or we might have missed the RAINBOW!

This was a double rainbow but you can't tell in the picture.

Hubs and Tucker enjoying the view. Someone might have made the observation that their hair is the same color.

Gorgeous sky.

That's the bridge connecting Mount Pleasant and Charleston.

Hope y'all have the best weekend EVER! And, if you're in the path of Irene, I hope you are safe and have no damage from it!

We have my family reunion this weekend- look for that update sometime tomorrow!

  1. These photos are amazing. I have a friend leaving for a vacation in Myrtle Beach. She was worried she might not be able to get there and have to pay cancellation fees. Again, amazing photos!

  2. Wow! Absolutely gorgeous photos! But you're so right ... nobody paints like God!!

Since Irene has interfered with our plans to go to the Outer Banks next month, we're going to come to the Low Country instead!!

Unfortunately, the Shem Creek Inn wants too much for their rooms this year, so we're going to stay in Hilton Head (on the beach of course!) the entire time and make a couple of day trips up to Charleston/Mt. Pleasant/Isle of Palms (if for no other reason than having dinner at Boathouse at Breech Inlet! Yummy!)

Your photos have certainly reminded me how much I love the Low Country!

  3. These pictures are stunning,I can't even imagine how much better they were being there. thank you so much for posting God's canvas.

  4. All the luck to the families who will, unfortunately, have to face Hurricane Irene.

    Truly marvellous imagery there...

  5. Amazing, dramatic and beautiful photos. So glad that you could appreciate the storm rather than battle it.

  6. Oh such pretty pictures and what a sunset. So glad you took them. I was reading those books about the lady who owns the tea shop in Charleston and you took pictures of some of the things and places that the book talks about in some of them so it was like seeing those books in my head. So cool.
I am glad that you didn't get Irene either. Have a wonderful Saturday.

  7. Beautiful photos! Im glad that you got bypassed by Irene! New follower from the friday hop, have a great weekend! You can find me at

  8. What a glorious treat this has been! I am so pleased you didn't stint on sharing all these images with us, as each one is beautiful! I also have a better idea of the lie of the land in your neck of the woods and it has been lovely to see some of those sights. The huge bridge, the imposing houses, the lighthouse etc. I did spot the double rainbow BTW although just faintly. The picture of Tucker with his Dad is adorable and you know what they say...we grow to look like our's clear who Tucker's Dad is :)

I'm so happy to know you're safe and have your family reunion to enjoy this weekend! Looking forward to hearing all about it!

  9. These pictures have me stumbling to come up with words to discribe them. Extraordinary, fantastic, beautiful, gorgeous, riveting and worthy of an award!!

My favorites are the lighthouse, the rainbow, the bridge, and the one where the wave hits the rocks. And, I just love it when you said, "Nobody paints like God." I agree 100%. Have a nice rest-of-the-weekend, and enjoy your reunion. :-)

And the one of hubs and Tucker...of course, that one would be MY favorite!!!

Guess what? Big rain is predicted for later next week. Keep your fingers crossed.

  21. Roan- Thank you! Myrtle didn’t get too much I don’t think. AND I would think that people wouldn’t charge cancellation fees when it’s Mother Nature’s fault- but most businesses only care about their bottom line. Unfortunately. Hope they made it and had fun!

Kathy-Everything on Shem Creek wants too much money! Hilton Head is gorgeous! Hope you enjoy your trip- email me if you can when you come to Mt P or the island- maybe we can meet for a few! I will be in Santee for some of the week though-but email me anyway! Thanks@
