HUMP DAY HOPS!

Ready to march into the Hodge Podge and do some Chattin' on the porch? Feel free to click on the links and join in the fun!

If you're here for Chats on the Farmhouse Porch only, then scroll down.

First up is WEDNESDAY HODGE PODGE from Joyce at From This Side of the Pond.  This meme is fun and sometimes even poses a challenge (read: she makes us use our noggins!).

1. Did March come in like a lion or was it something less ferocious in your neck of the woods?Oh, is March here? I hadn't noticed since we never got any winter to speak of this year. Yes, I'm bitter.

2. Speaking of lions, which one's your film favorite...The Cowardly Lion (Wizard of Oz), Mufasa (The Lion King), Elsa (Born Free), or Alex (Madagascar)? You may notice I left Aslan off the list. Including him would have made this question way too easy for many of you. I've thought and thought and I don't really care that much for any of them. They've never been my favorite characters of their features...I guess it would be a toss up between the Cowardly Lion and Alex.

3. What's your favorite spot from which to view the sunrise or sunset? The beach. It's only five minutes from our house and the sunrises are always stunning. The sunset is amazing while overlooking Charleston harbor.

4. To what extent is knowledge power and to what extent is truth power? What's the difference? Knowledge is power in that it enables us to recognize truth. Truth is power because it enables us to stand strong and confident in our knowledge.

5. What's something peculiar you've seen recently? My reflection while doing that evil 30 Day Shred. Wait, you said peculiar not scary...sorry...I might have noticed someone lying out in the sun in 50 degree weather. You people living in the great white north probably don't think that's peculiar though. There are people where I walk who think it's peculiar that I put Tucker in the jogging stroller I bought off Craigslist when he gets tired.

6. Bottled water...your thoughts? Certainly. As long as it is REALLY spring water. Years ago we had a little leak in our shower head so, until Hubs finally got around to replacing it, I put a hand towel over it. When Hubs replaced the thing -less than but close to 30 days later, the water had eaten away part of the towel. I'm not drinking anything that does that. Plus, I never trusted the head of our water company anyway. He dresses for work every day in khaki pants and self-importance.

7. What's your strongest sense? I have heightened sense of all five senses. They are all equally ridiculously strong- I'm talking EXTREME people. This has proven to be both a blessing and a curse.

8. Insert your own random thought here.
THE LOVELIES will be here next week at this time!!!! And of course I am happy dancing all over the place! The people at the grocery store just stared and stared!
AND---LOOK what I knitted!!!!! Thanks to Stephanie at Hookin', Knittin' and Livin' for her inspiration and PATIENCE with my questions! Anyone notice anything odd about those adorable little shoes? Well? Look closely...

That's right. I knitted two adorable little shoes for a baby with TWO RIGHT FEET. I got so dang excited that I had actually accomplished this little feat (no pun intended) that I forgot to read the finishing directions for the LEFT shoe when completing the second shoe. So now I must knit two more adorable little shoes- both for LEFT feet! Sheesh.

Oh! And, NO, we don't have any announcements to make of a grandchild. But when we do finally get one of those, I'll have some cute little shoes ready! I may even attempt that sweater over at Stephanie's!

Next up is a HUMP DAY HOP from Patrice at Everyday Ruralty called Chats on the farmhouse porch! Sometimes we get to visit with Wendell the wonder horse too!

This Week's Questions:
  1. Tell me a fond memory of an elderly person? I honestly have a veritable plethora of these. If you really want to know, read this post or this one for some of the stories. I have been truly blessed with the elderly people in my life. Truly blessed!
  2. What's your favorite flavor of jam or jelly? Grape. No! Apple. NO! Strawberry. Oh shoot! I love all those!
  3. What goes through your mind when you drive by one of those whopping, huge houses that look like something in a magazine? Geez am I glad I don't have to pay the taxes on that thing.
  4. What's your favorite way to relax? It all depends on my mood (as does everything else) but reading or walking or sitting in the plaid chair watching a movie or cooking or writing...
  5. What's your favorite kind of pasta? PENNE! I LOVE it and I don't care how it's prepared!

  5. Joyce- I never thought I'd be able to knit anything other than a scarf! Now, all I need is a grandchild! LOL Thanks! I'm really looking forward to having them all here!

Betty- Not yet, but we can always hope, right? :) I have so much cooking to do- they all want their favorite dishes!

Stephanie- Yes, I did it thanks to YOU! You have no idea how much I appreciate having a master knitter at my finger tips! I'm going to try the sweater next! Hope I don't blow up our emails from all the questions! LOL

Nani-OMG! I never thought of that! Awesome! LOL

  6. Well, my hat is off to you for being able to knit. I would of sort of like to know how to do this IF I could keep my concentration focused long enough to learn.

Everyone...well maybe not everyone but a good deal of people automatically jump to paying taxes on a big place first. I didn't even think about this, but yeah, that's gotta be ridicuous.

All great answers to these questions!

  7. Cathy- The taxes around here are outrageous! Especially on those big boys on the islands! Holy CRAP! I have friends who had to sell their island homes because they could not afford the taxes any longer. And one family (Hubs' cousin) lost her house for the very same reason.

  8. 5 minutes from the beach?? I'm going to stop feeling sorry for you living in that climate. 5 minutes from the beach??? Okay, maybe I'll still feel sorry for you during the heat of the summer, but that's it...LOL

Darling little booties. At least the problem is not unsolvable. I have never knit booties, and this is just the kind I want to knit. I love those little straps - so MaryJane looking!

  11. The baby shoes are adorable. Now if you knit two identical ones for the other foot, you'll have two pairs. (Hubby says I state the obvious a lot. Grrrr!)Might these be for a grandbaby? Are you not telling us something?I like all jam and jelly. Penne rocks!
    Have a great week!

  13. I love these two linky's that you do, you learn so much about a person.
I was hoping you had an announcement. I understand people sunning when it is 50, I always can tell a tourist, when they have the top down on the convertible and it is in the 50's, yikes too cold for me!
Oh, I love the Wizard of Oz but I like Lion King too, that it hard one.
I totally understand the mood thing and relaxing, it just depends.
My son loves Penne, I am a Gnocchi or Cavatelli girl!

  14. Judy- Thanks, they're called Baby Janes! How cute is the name? LOL Yes, only 5 minutes from the beach. I appreciated it way more when the girls were little though! :)

Kara- Thanks! I am so excited I can hardly wait!

Michele- Thank you for stopping by! We're good and Tucker sends puppy kisses back your way!

Patrice- Not for a grand. Just something that I thought was so cute and wondered if I could actually make them! I live with MR State the Obvious. LOL

MA- They are all so yummy it's hard to pick just one!

Lucy-I guess I understand if it's a tourist but it was my next door neighbor. LOL Most things I do or don't do depend on my mood of the moment! Which can be good. And bad. :)
